It's quite a bland bit of design work isn't it? I checked it out first hand and was pretty unimpressed. The 50th anniversary set is very slick and substantial by comparison.

    Gustav,

I myself am tempted to replace a few just for the cover designs alone. New extras would've made it a "necessity" to buy, especially on something like Skyfall, where I hate my original box art.

    @marketto007

Is there no 52-page booklet in that set??

Because in the German version of that set there is one!

My FYEO and FRWL steelbook came today! Not overly impressed, especially when compared to the Goldfinger steelbook, but they are nice additions to my Bond collection nonetheless.

The SPECTRE featurettes are also time limited, which is a shame.

The Bond 50 box is superior in every way, that's true.
I bought this new set because I suffer from collecting mania when it comes to Bond :P
and there's this wonderful 52-page booklet in it with lots of nice artwork. At least in the German version it is.

You are never satisfied :-). You always moan where others love something, and you love something where other's moan ;-).

Never satisfied? I've no intention of buying this, just making an observation that it is a bit bland, which next to the B50 boxset, it is.

Let's play a game where someone purchases and ships to me the QoS steelbook. Ready, aaaaand...GO!

I think the design of the US-box set is better than the European box set. The latter I find a bit bland. Regarding the steelbooks? I love them.

The US design is certainly better, but the European looks cheap I think. The steelbooks are perfect.

Very nice looking. Mine are coming in the mail next week (we get them a week later for some reason in Canada). Anything of interest on the back or inside?

That's a shame. I thought they'd maybe put another image from the title sequence inside. Would that not have been a cool and logical decision? Ugh.

    Thanks for responding though!
  • I never knew that the font type for "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Casino Royale" were the same....

It's the only one I'm dying to get. None of the others terribly impress me, I don't want to shell out for another version of SF, and my CR Deluxe Edition suits me just fine. The QoS steel is both beautiful and would look much better than the bare-bones blu-ray release I have for it now.
  • My friend Klaus, who lives in Oldenburg, Nethersaxony, just told me that he got all 9 steelbooks delivered early this morning :-D! Yippyyy. Next stem.....sending them from Oldenburg to Barcelona hehe.

@Creasy47 The QOS cover looks amazing! My other favorite covers are OHMSS and TB. I'm reconsidering possibly ordering these now, because they dropped the price $1 on each of them.

It'd be cool to have a nice version of From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, along with the three Craig films... I could easily get carried away with these things :P

Again, thanks for the pictures! Could you perhaps make a picture of the insides and the backs as well??

I swung by Best Buy yesterday to see what new Bond goodies they were carrying.

The 9 new Steelbooks were displayed near the entrance

They had the Craig collection Steelbook

And the new 23 film set. I was seconds away from buying it until I realized it didn't include digital copies.

In the end, I left with the new QOS Steelbook, only because it was the only Craig film I didn't have a digital copy of.

Aw, nice! I went to our Best Buy today but there was nothing, I think the Canadian Best Buys are getting them on Sept 22 or something. :(

That Daniel Craig steelbook collection will become a collector's item too.

You know, I'm really happy about this. Finally some good covers for BluRay's. By the way, I'm especially happy that "Quantum Of Solace" now really gets proper, beautiful cover art. Although I'm not that fond of MK12's main title design (I still like them more than those awful "DAD" titles), I do love the colors.....from rusty brown / sand-color to wonderful green-ish blue / ocean blue.

PS: NEVER THROW AWAY THE BACKSIDE SLEAVE AND THE PLASTIC COVER FOIL.

Yeah, next week on the 22nd. I pre-ordered most of them, save FRWL and DAF which were sold out by the time I pulled the trigger. That said, there is a bit of a glitch in their service (which one of the forum board moderators has taken note of, at least) because I can't view my pre-order anymore. When I click on the number I'm led to a page saying Best Buy can't retrieve the order! Worst case scenario I'll be heading to Best Buy next Tuesday to buy all 9.

I can't believe how dumb I am, not being American I thought BestBuy was an online shop and have bought a couple of the Spectre steelbooks online to send here in New Zealand, it was only when I saw that pic above of the shop display that I realised it was a good old fashioned shop. So I just quickly messaged my flatmate who is a flight attendant and is in LA at the moment and he just bought the remaining 7. So thanks for putting the pic up of the display or I would have continued to pay a lot more to have them posted via eBay. Soooooooo happy.

I'm new to the digital copy versions of films, so bear with me...

I tried to redeem FYEO as a digital copy via foxredeem.com, as it says to do. Well, it came up with some options to download it to (Flixster, Sony etc.), and since I don't have any account with those, I chose Google Play. Now I've come to my movies library in Google Play, the film is nowhere to be found. To be honest, I only chose Google Play because I have a Google account.

    Any ideas?

It may take some time for the movie to show up in your library. Also try entering the code again at foxredeem.com to see if it was successfully redeemed the first time. If it was, you will likely receive a notice stating the code has already been used.

For the record, I recommend using Vudu to redeem the digital copies. I think it is, overall, a much better service than the others.
  • someone please confirm: the QOS steelbook bluray is the same bluray from 2008, with the trailers in the beginning? And also the GE steelbook bluray have the same bad restoration as the one from 50 boxset?
