I don't know about the trailers in the beginning, but it does appear to be the same release from 2008, so I don't see anything being different about it aside from the case that it comes in. As for GE, are you talking about the region-free Zavvi GE steelbook? Again, with all of these coming out around the same time, I doubt the PQ is any different between the two releases.
I do have the GE steelbook, what was not ok with GE in the 50 Box?
I pulled the trigger on the CR steel and was happy to find that it does not have the other Sony trailers at the beginning like my old copy has and that the menu is in line with the others. However, it looks like I need to keep my two disc set as they didn't carry over the Bond Girls Are Forever doc.

That "Casino Royale" steelbook really is a beauty.

Previously released James Bond steelbooks:
Maybe they will release the other Bond films in steelbook too next year, together with the steelbook release of "SPECTRE". By jolly, am I curious now what Daniel Kleinman is doing with the main titles for "SPECTRE" :-O. Will they be orange/black?? More girls?? Some floating octopi?
By the way @RC7. Looking at above pictures, which steelbook of "Skyfall" you like most? The 1st grey/silver colored one? Or the new one with green main title design on it?
The main title without doubt. The other is too Connery-esque for me, the title design cover unequivocally says 'Skyfall' and it is a great title sequence.
Look for heavy use of chess and Day of the Dead imagery, that's my feeling anyway.
I've always thought those kind of people need help. If I buy Bond stuff I have to enjoy it.
Yeah, I'm not one of those collectors luckily :-P. Though I do save the foils and paper covers from those steelbooks. You never know if something is wrong with the disc. Better to send it back in prestine order then.
I'm actually surprised how many new discs are actually damaged and skip on first play.
Yes, same here. I still haven't gotten a confirmation that my order has been processed.
In all honesty, I never had that problem. Never. I am always very careful with my bluray-discs.
By the way, I tend to agree with you about the remainder of the Bond films. Now in total 11 Bond films had a steelbook release:
--> "From Russia With Love"
--> "Goldfinger" (still the most beautiful one, with embossed title logo, partially matted, partially shiny painted cover, and when you hold it in the sun, you can discover the number "50", referring to the 50th anniversary of the film in 2014)
--> "Thunderball"
--> "You Only Live Twice"
--> "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"
--> "Diamonds Are Forever"
--> "For Your Eyes Only"
--> "GoldenEye" (wonderful matted steel cover, with official poster design and embossed title logo)
--> "Casino Royale" (2 different steelbook releases)
--> "Quantum Of Solace"
--> "SkyFall" (2 different steelbook releases)
But the other 12 should be released in steelbook too.
My pre-order has been fixed. You might want to write to or call them. You really should receive at least an email confirming they have your order.
Indeed it is! Like I've said, it's probably my favorite shot out of the entire QoS title themes, so I'm glad they selected it as the cover.
More pictures please :-D!:
And I will probably have a similar 'mismatched' collection :-P. But I think on a shelve it looks better to put all my 13 Bond steelbooks together no? This picture is from someone else by the way:
I don't trust myself that I won't pick up the Craig trilogy in Steelbook when they become available in my Best Buy :P
I actually had TLD-TND! TLD was my first laserdisc ever! I LOVED the Goldeneye one with all the features it had! Thanks for reminding me of them!
Did anyone in the U.S. get a code to watch the Spectre content with the individual steelbook editions? I got CR and realized I only have a code for the digital copy of that film.
the GE bluray had heavy DNR. Also i want to reply to others saying that QOS bluray of 50th edition exept from trailers in the beggining also had a diffrent menu (2008 version) from the other 21 movies, CR bluray of the 50th edition had the same menu as the other 20 movies but not as many extras as the 2BD Edition!
I got the last images from this bluray-forum, and then this special "Bond steelbook topic":

My last post had IMG-links without .jpg at the end, so perhaps that could be the problem on your mobile phone. But on my laptop via Google Chrome the images are working...
Are you going to buy the steelbooks @marketto007?
