Seems like the bullet hole steelbook is universal and won't vary depending on any site you purchase it from, which is a shame.

Let's unbox the "SPECTRE" steelbook, and then we discover that it's actually one of the nicest designed steelbooks from the Bond series! It's simply, stylish, andddd it has some embossed/debossed effects (which previously only the "GoldenEye" and "Goldfinger" steelbook had). As you can see, the bullet hole is embossed:

Yes, if useless, shiny packaging was what mattered, SP would be winning all the awards. But for those of us who don't decorate our shelves with films because of how pretty they all look, the same joy just isn't there. I don't mean to come off as abrasive here, I'm just sick of hearing in multiple threads about all the various packaging styles in which you can get the same damn film with the same exact features.

I am sure we all agree that the disc released is feeble but it seems rather churlish, even for me, to come a thread with this title to lambast steelbooks. Isn't there a separate bluray thread where you can slag off the shoddiness of the release while leaving Gustav to revel in his shiny new steelbook?

If you have no interest then just ignore the thread. I have zero interest in NFL so I just ignore that thread like it is another one of those spam ones.

Although I do find it bizarre that some people's lives are so empty they think filming themself opening a new DVD is a worthwhile excercise.

Thank you. I can't begin to imagine the reasoning behind filming yourself opening up any sort of movie and offering an opinion on it.

I enjoy the unboxing videos. It shows you exactly what you will be getting if you happen to buy the same thing. Plus, if the person is excited about what they are opening what's wrong with sharing a bit of their joy? I didn't make a video, but I have made some photos of the Target edition I received today. It's not the steelbook though. I'll post it in the other thread.

Could you place some more of these pictures in here? Anyway, here's a better view at the little bit of embossing on the "SPECTRE"-steelbook. You know, I'm certainly a minority, but I love the steelbook. It's simple & stylish. And it fits the other three Craig-steelbooks perfectly. Also the spine is the same design. Less is more if you ask me. Bond doesn't drive a Lambo.....it. lacks. style. A DB10 is clean and simple. Anyway, the steelbook:

Some other examples of (black) steelbooks that others might find 'boring', but that I love ;-):

If you don't like or want to watch the video of the opening of a steelbook, don't watch it. If someone wants to film it, its there choice.

Agreed. I think it's a great way to show consumers what their getting before they make a purchase. I find myself watching them all the time.

I'm not much of a steelbook collector but since I picked up the 9 other Bestbuy exclusives, I feel a need to get the Spectre steelbook tomorrow... as well as a normal copy.

If you're that into collecting, check out the kimchi blu-ray version (might still be in stock) and keep an eye out for the upcoming Blufans release. The kimchi one comes with pictures from the movie, a limited numbered card, and some other stuff.

It's really a bummer Spectre doesn't have a title sequence themed cover like the rest. :-S

Some comments: I love the partially glossy/matted finish. The slipcase really looks really nice and has the same kind of durability as the "Casino Royale DeLuxe" slipcase. Probably made of cardboard with premium texturized paper finish. The little things that seperate the premium asian editions from the mass produced rest of the world versions if you ask me :-):

Looking good! Tempted to get it but due to the lack of special features I'll buy the regular blu ray when it's in the bargain bin

I hate slipcases for Steelbooks, it's a contradiction in terms.
Who would hide the beautiful steelbook in a cardboard slipcase. That's just stupid.
Of course that Spectre slipcase looks nice, but it's useless imo.

No, it isn't stupid. I actually bought like 30 plastic transparent slipcases. Why? Because steelbooks are always sensitive for scratches and dents. This especially goes for completely glossy steelbooks, like the Bond steelbooks. A luxury slipcase like the one from Kimchi is then even better. I huge Bravo for Kimchi!

PS: I also bought the German steelbook of "SPECTRE", because that one has a 2nd bonus disc with special features (thus it has space for two disc's inside):

The SP steelbook is very gifted at picking up any sort of dirt or fingerprints, it seems. I don't know how they went about making it exactly, but it's odd.
