It's a shame that they used the IMAX poster for a steelbook for SF, then didn't do the same for SP, instead going for that generic bullethole steelbook design instead.

Agree, the SPECTRE steelbox was very boring.

    I got all the steelbooks.

The original SF is beautiful outside and inside. The Spectre steelbook is black...at least the bullet hole is "real" which can't be seen on the pictures I'm afraid. So they did make an effort for the Spectre steelbook.

I applaud you, @BondJasonBond006, for shelling out money for the SF steelbook. Looks nice, but unless it's a few dollars shipped, it isn't worth spending that kind of money to swap out for a nicer case to a movie I don't care for.

I've got a few steelbooks - was considering getting the Sicario one off Amazon but it's £10 deaerer, twice the cost of the normal Blu Ray and I actually prefer the cover on the normal packaging. I don't mind spending a few quid more for a steelbook but not twice the price ... although if I don't it's another nail in the coffin of physical media :(

I've spotted some Group Buy's on blu-ray forums for very, very, very nice steelbooks, but I don't believe I could ever justify shelling out $50+ for some of them. Found a great one for 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' but $53 or however much for a different cover, steelbook, and a few art cards isn't worth it to me.

On your American version of Amazon you can get it in standard packaging for $16.61 - bit of a price difference, ain't it?

For what, 'Fury Road'? Not the regular steelbook release - I own the one from Best Buy - I'm talking about the ones such as HD Zeta, Nova Media, Blu-Fans that create limited edition/unique steelbooks overseas, usually with lots of cosmetic extras added.

"Well lookie what we have here butthead."
What a nice surprise; I didn't even know this came in a steelbook!

And even though it's the whole trilogy, it's the same size box so it fits right in with the rest!

As you know, the 50th Anniversary is taking place right now. So Paramount/CBS are relaunching a lot of special BluRay packs:

A new Director's Cut BluRay of "The Wrath Of Khan" (new artwork for amaray holder with slipcase):

There's already a first version steelbook BluRay for "The Wrath Of Khan" available:

And, like with James Bond, Paramount/CBS relaunches all first 10 Trek films on BluRay (not 4K) in steelbook format:

@Gustav_Graves that's one hell of a set! I'm not even really a Star Trek fan and I kind of want that! It's a shame they didn't do something similar for the James Bond 50th set: all steelbooks and the spines would form the OO7 logo or something. Then my Spectre steelbook would look right at home next to it!

Here's my most recent acquirement: a limited edition Steelbook case for Metal Gear Solid V! Some European retailers included it with the 'Day One' edition. I figure for a game I play as often as MGSV, it should get the special treatment!

Good news for anyone who hasn't already bought them: Best Buy currently has their Bond steelbooks for $7.99, the lowest I've seen them. I just went ahead and got the Craig movies!

I had to buy that QoS steelbook, loved it a lot. I bought the one for CR and FYEO for cheap, as well, but unfortunately the latter case was a bit crushed in. May have to pick up the OHMSS steel if it goes on sale in the future. I do like them, it's just tough to justify shelling out $15 or so for each one when I already own the blu-ray.

Are these Bond Blu ray steelbooks the same transfers as the other Blu rays? Same picture quality, color timing, etc or have they been remastered again?

@ToTheRight, same exact version as the other blu-rays, just in a different case. They do come with digital copies, as well.

I'll probably stick to the Blu-rays I've got then. There are still a few I don't have, so maybe I'll get those as steelbooks.

Which ones are you missing? Best Buy only released nine steelbooks that were Spectre-focused, and off the top of my head, I can only think of other steelbook variants for SF, GE, GF, and a few other random ones (such as FRWL and LALD) that received the same treatment several years back, but are OOP these days so they go for an unwarranted pretty penny.

@Creasy47 , let's see...TSWLM, OP, NSNA, AVTAK, TLD, GE, TND, QoS, and SP.

Off the top of my head, the only steelbooks for those are for GE, QoS, and SP. I had to double dip for the GE one, since it's my favorite film and the steelbook itself is beautiful. The two for QoS and SP are part of the recent steelbook releases, so if you're patient, you could probably pick both of them up for $15 total or less, they pop up on sale every now and then for only $7 a pop. GE will run you a bit more, however, since it's more of a limited edition variant - had to get mine from overseas.

I may wait. I'd love the GE one. Varying opinions on the GE transfers. The 2006 DVD was slightly cropped and dark. I would think the Blu ray version corrected this.

@ToTheRight, it did. For some reason, GE's blu-ray stands out amongst all the others because it didn't quite receive the upgrade that the other movies did; however, the blu-ray is now in its full aspect ratio and the cropping issue that existed on the DVD is gone. Here's a good review that goes pretty in-depth with all of the technical stuff:

Did we actually ever get one of the Dalton films in steelbook?

Unfortunately not, which means he's the only actor to not have one.

That is unfortunate. Is there any chance they will give the same 'main title' treatment to the the rest of the films?

@GoldenGun, I'd say it's highly doubtful, solely because those steelbook releases coincided with the release of SP, and those were chosen simply because they featured the organization - I suppose you could argue and say that the likes of DN should've been included, as well.

I'd bet money, though, that aside from this re-released collection they're coming out with at some point, you can bet we'll get new versions of some/all of the movies come 'Bond 25.'

A real pity, it could be argued those were the best designs we've ever had.

Good they fixed that. I vividly remember what the film looked like in the cinema and those screenshots in the GE review look pretty clean. I'm kind of on a GE kick today, I may have to upgrade. I have the SE DVD edition from, I believe it was 2000, and then the crummy 2006 UE. I may be well due for a Blu ray of GE.

I only have Skyfall and Spectre - I have the 2012 50th Anniversary 22 film collection so refuse to fork out any further money for them until they have significant extras added and unfortunately this includes not shelling out for the steelbooks - unless they crop up cheap. Certainly don't begrudge people buying them because they look fantastic - hence why I have bought both the steelbook releases since QoS - SF and SP.
