This is insane, i would have never seen that coming, expecially after the Casino Royale announcement. I thought that dynamite might switches writers after Eidolon for vol. 3, but starting another miniseries in parallel? awesome!

Dynamite sure knows how to milk a cashcow, not that that's a bad thing.

Great news. Love the work of Andy Diggle. He lives in Lancaster as I do and have seen him in passing now and again. Top guy.

I am pulling out my hair right now due to sheer excitement! Trust me, I haven't been excited for a Bond film like this before, but the cover artwork by Ron Salas alone is driving me insane! :D

I think we're all going to have a blast for the next 10 years since Dynamite has a license to publish the Bond comics till sometime in the next decade. They're doing it justice big time! And certainly not f***ing around like you said.

And @00Agent, is it me or the first few preview pages remind me of the final showdown from The Quasimodo Gambit? :D

Certainly looks like it. It's a great time to be a Bond fan! if you are into comic books that is... if not, your loss

I couldn't agree more! It's certainly a win-win for any hardcore Bond fan!

At first, I also disliked the art, but I got used to it and later on loved the way it was inked. Not much of outlines there, just colours, but admittedly, the worst one we've ever had with the art was Shattered Helix. I could hardly identify any object in a panel in that comic.

    i love the style.
And what i also find interesting is that this series and the ellis one has the same style for the header, but with inverted colors (Ellis is black on white, this one is White on Black). i wonder what's the meaing behind it? will we have two series running in parallel for much longer? this is surely not a coincidence

After years of being away from comcis, Bond is really back in full force. I haven't fully read VARGR yet.

That above cover looks decidedly phallic, but overall I think it works, content wise. Bond seems to be giving a vow of loyalty with his right hand, showing someone he's to be trusted, while in secret his left hand is always clutching his gun, ready for the status quo to change at any moment. That feels very in touch with his character as written. The art is stellar, as well.

It'll be interesting to see if the newly announced comic arc connects to Ellis' future Bond work in any cool and surprising ways.

It is connected to the Ellis arc. Yes. Dynamite's spin on the franchise keeps the tight continuity as opposed to the Dark Horse Comics that came before with standalone miniseries.

I know it's keeping to canon, I'm just saying that I wonder if the new arc will slyly hide strands of future plots that will come later on in his volumes. To essentially be ors d'oeuvres for the main course meal.

Hmm, according to the article, it's called James Bond: Hammerhead #1. And knowing that Dynamite is known for modifying titles sometime after, I think it's safe to say that VARGR and Eidolon will be part of James Bond, while Hammerhead will stand on its own. It won't be a first for Dynamite.

Double post but considering that the films are going to be awhile now it seems I'm glad Dynamite is in full force. I just hope the interest stays high even without the push of the films.

I think the interest in the comics is high enough. I've been reading somewhere that someone didn't even care about Bond, and bought the series only because it's Warren Ellis writing. Imagine the recruits we'll have regarding those elements. Brand names do help after all!

Definitly. And the quality is there. I think this series will do very well, with or without the movies, and it also doesn't tie in with them in any way

@ClarkDevlin and @00Agent I agree with you both.

And going back to HammerHead do you know awesome that would look on screen to see a parachute emerging from the clouds?

Wait...spinoff?? What does this mean? Will the Eidolon be referenced in it?

No spin-offs. Just wrongfully used words seen in articles.

Hammerhead will be a whole new chapter for Bond just like Eidolon and VARGR.
