I wonder if Dynamite will bring Rene Mathis in a future Bond comic.

Hope he won't be blinded like he was in Benson's novel. ;)

Well, hold the presses then! René Mathis will return. Not in a new, fresh original comic book, but in a complete new series of comic book adaptations from Fleming's original novel "Casino Royale". And it doesn't stop there. All of Fleming's novels will get the Dynamite comic book treatment, in chronological order!

Writer of these new series of Dynamite comic books is Van Jensen. Here you can read an interview with him about the announcement. Graphic artist Matthew Southworth will do the drawings:
    https://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/07/14/talking-to-van-jensen-the-new-james-bond-writer-about-casino-royale-and-live-and-let-die/

Here's an example of Southworth's graphic art for the "Bloodstump" comic book series:

    Here's the general news announcement:

You can already pre-order the first comic book "Casino Royale" on Amazon.co.uk:

Now I tell you guys, THIS entire Dynamite comic book series I will most CERTAINLY collect! "Casino Royale" will have 176 pages.

Bad news, @Gustav_Graves. In December, Southworth wrote this:

I'm sad now.... :(( . I tweeted Van Jensen and Dynamite though. I'd like to have a response, because it seems the project is still on for a July 2017 release.

Stay calm. It'll be there. But, I tell you, it won't be there this year, because there are three reasons. It'll be out by the time 28 May 2018 comes around.

Hold the presses! Time to save more money. Now it's official, by confirmation of Dynamite Comics :-). The 'first' Ian Fleming adaptation of James Bond will appear in the fourth quarter of this year (between October and December). And the first comic book will be "Casino Royale". The omnibus version (like the original James Bond comic books from Dynamite) will have 176 pages:

If that is the artist, @00Agent, then I would know Dynamite listened to your and my conversations regarding the product. :D

Fay Dalton would likely required more time to realize the hyper-detailed style she works in to finish the book by Q4, which is a shame, as few can replicate the 50s/60s feeling that well. I hope whoever they've picked can accurately bring out the spirit of Fleming's work and characters.

That may be, but Dynamite are shooting for it at the moment, which tells me they've got an artist who can realize the vision quicker than Fay would be able to.

Could be. But, that maybe they got the artist three to four months ago right after the previous one's departure. We don't know what's behind the scenes and all... Of course, the chances are 70% against 30% that I might be wrong, but I have this instinct in me that it won't come out this year and that the art itself will be top notch. Fay Dalton is still a possibility from my perspective, judging by the fact Van Jensen has penned the script so he won't be needing too much perspective to see the visuals if you know what I mean.
  • Let's stay positive :-). This is at least welcoming news. And I'm definately going to collect this particular Dynamite series :-).

The James Bond series, @Gustav_Graves? Or Casino Royale?
  • The James Bond series, @Gustav_Graves? Or Casino Royale?

Dynamite will now have three James Bond (themed) series:

--> The James Bond Series, with new, original stories ("Vargr", "Eidolon", "Hammerhead", "Black Box")
--> The Felix Leiter Spin-Off Series, with new, original stories
--> The James Bond Series, as adaptations of Ian Fleming's original novels (starting with "Casino Royale")

And I mean the latter. I'm really excited about these :-).

Also, aren't the Dynamite series truly won-der-ful source material for future James Bond films??

Neal Purvis & Robert Wade could really learn from these Dynamite people!

Glad you're on board with us, @Gustav_Graves. Oh and one thing adding, aside from the Fleming novel adaptations, there will be a rookie James Bond series too, such as Agent 007: Year One and forth up until the events of Casino Royale.
