How to start off a James Bond fan?

So i'm getting my friend into James Bond and i remember watching the movies first and completely out of order and not reading the books until much later. Thats something i regret. I would make him start with the novels, but there are way too many of them and some of them are just "eh" so should he just read the ian fleming novels first, then the films, and hes a big gamer so maybe the games (or at least goldeneye)? i dont know. i guess i might have him read the novels, watch the movies and then let him go wherever from there. But id love to hear your thoughts. thanks guys
