Somehow I Just Can't See It...

Take a Bond moment or line & suggest a different actor that would just make it seem so wrong.

EX: Connery in TND- "So that's what I've been doing wrong all these years."
Moore in CR- "Do I look like I give a damn?" [-X

Lazenby talking to Plenty O'toole: "But of course you are."

Moore killing Silva: "Last rat standing."
  • I agree with your Moore example, but I can actually see Connery saying just that line to Q to annoy him. Just imagine him with that ear-to-ear grin he wears in Goldfinger when he says "You must be joking."

I could see Moore saying the CR line. He speaks in similar tone to Anya at the Mojave Club. Same with Last Rat Standing that is actually a great one liner that Moore excels at.

I couldn't see him having the "I have no armor left" exchange.

I can't see Dalton having any confrontation with Jaws or Oddjob.

And the biggest one because people put this one in a hypothetical so much: I could NEVER see Connery delivering We have all the time in the world after Tracy's death.

I could see Roger saying that to General Orlov.

I could easily see Lazenby in DAF. He pulls of that charisma very well.

I couldn't see Dalton in any of the Connery films or OHMSS.

Disagree strongly choice checked on this one, Wes. Dalton is the one Bond actor I can literally see doing anything in any other film.

You can, but I can't. :P He's a fine actor, but Connery and Dalton are two different animals.

Dalton in the car with Anya saying, "You want me to drive?'
Dalton dropping the dead fish out of the Lotus

    Moore shooting Professor Dent

I might sound like a broken record but it is well documented that Dalton could never do the one liners that Moore and the others excel at while Moore could never sell me on being a government assassin.

Dalton could have 'done' Connery if he had wanted to (IMHO).

Lazenby saying: I hope you enjoyed the show. Now, good night.
    or
Connery saying: I'm looking for Dr. Goodhead. A woman?
  • I couldn't see Bernard Lee's M being called to an oversight committee,

I could see Pierce in AVTAK, TLD, and LTK and doing great,

and I couldn't see Craig in any Moore film except LALD

Never could see Connery with any of Moore's lines. It would have looked horrible.

Connery in MR: "Oh, he had to fly."

Is that much different than Well he certainly left with his tail between his legs?

Both had their ways with one liners, just a different style. I think both could have captured each others lines in their own way.

Good call with the Bernard Lee M getting called in for questioning!

Imagine Craig saying Moore's: "I'm now aiming precisely at your crotch."

    Groin, he says groin.

And that actually sounds like something Craig would say.

Craig saying "No, for me" in GoldenEye... Oh... Wait... He did.

We have all the time in the world after Tracy's death.
"Unfortunately, she kept her illness from me. Until all I could do was mourn her." -Last Crusade
Oh, I think Connery could have handled it...

That's different. That is the character he portrayed in the Indiana Jones series.

In the Bond series, he had established his character over 5 films and there was never a trace of love and vulnerability shown. I mean, could you really buy the Connery from TB and YOLT falling in love? I highly doubt they would have kept the same tone for OHMSS if Connery was in the role.

Now if OHMSS followed directly after DN or FRWL, I might be able to buy it. After GF, TB, and Bondmania exploded though, that setting for Connery just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, it would have been a bit of a retcon, I'm just saying he could have done it convincingly, not that he should have or that it would be completely accepted... and after YOLT he'd have been too old to do it as the 30-ish Bond he'd have needed to be.

Agreed there :) It was never a knock on Connery's acting as he could certainly pull off that performance. With everything that proceeded it just wouldn't have made sense in my eyes in the Bond canon.
