He does look like a skinny Jordan Peele.

I'm confused, @ByRoyalDecree. You presented this man as a potential Bond, but now you seem to be dismissing him, unless a skinny Jordan Peele is your idea of Bond.

Sure. Why not? I'll happily give the man a chance. :-)

    Because he's a 43 almost 44 year old American.
James Bond should be played by someone of British or of a Commonwealth, English speaking country.

I’d like to revisit the thread where Craig was announced, and the build up to it. Would that still be on here somewhere?

Anyone got a link to the new, separate story about ATJ? I just keep seeing the article from The Sun referenced.

It comes from that 'The Puck' website which is linked to in the tweet above, but I must admit I've not heard of the puck before.
This is a piece reporting on what it says (the original is paywalled)
    https://www.unilad.com/film-and-tv/james-bond-more-sensitive-new-movie-20220923

    This is what it says:
Per agency sources, a few big-get roles up for grabs in 2023:

    • Ridley Scott is looking for the key actors in Gladiator 2.
    • If Disney figures out its Pirates of the Caribbean situation, those roles will be hot.
    • Same with Paramount and the Bee Gees movie. Hustlers’ Lorene Scafaria just stepped in as director, and she’s seeking Gibb brothers that don’t play like the SNL sketch.
    • Agents are salivating over Marvel’s Fantastic Four, which is complicated by all the multiverse stuff. And the ongoing DC reset should bring big opportunities for new men in tights, especially someone to replace Henry Cavill as Superman.
    • And, obviously, the granddaddy of casting coups: James Bond. The Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumors are true—he sat with producer Barbara Broccoli, and the meeting went well, per sources. But while Taylor-Johnson fits the bill—great actor, British, fits the younger direction the Broccolis want to go, accomplished but not particularly famous—he’s about to be a much bigger star. If Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter or Universal’s Ryan Gosling two-hander The Fall Guy works, Taylor-Johnson might end up, ironically, too famous to take on Bond.

( I used this handy paywall remover!)

There may be some truth to this.

That would have been on the original forum, Keeping The British End Up, which regenerated into MI6 Community in 2011. You might be able to find it using the way back machine.

It was rough but okay. In my memory, members behaved rather well back then. The idiots who set up that retarded CraigNotBond website were generally disliked and made unwelcome here. ;-)

It still wasn't in vogue to demand that "Babs" be fired for some reason, to call things one disagreed with "woke", to write letters to EON saying that fans should get involved in the creative process, and to keep posting pictures of Aidan Turner for some reason. Yes, those were better days.

Rory Kinnear says Aaron Taylor-Johnson is unlikely to be next James Bond
James Bond film series actor Rory Kinnear said the next person to play 007 after Daniel Craig will not be a “frontrunner” or “highlighted” star like Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The 44-year-old actor has starred in the last four Bond films, first appearing in Quantum Of Solace in 2008 as MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner and last in No Time To Die in 2021.

Kinnear was asked on The One Show about the chances of Taylor-Johnson, 32, starring as the next Bond, after a “lot of noise” about the Kick-Ass and Bullet Train actor being up for the role

He replied: “I always feel slightly bad for the people who are being highlighted, because that never tends to be them. They are very good at keeping the real person secret.

Kinnear, who also ruled himself out of playing Bond, added: “I’d be interested to see who does take over, obviously, but it tends not to be the frontrunner, that’s historically.”

Pierce Brosnan was the frontrunner 1990 - 1994 and arguably the frontrunner around 1984 (accepting the fact Timothy Dalton had been offered the part in For Your Eyes Only). Pierce Brosnan had the advantage of being moderately well known but not making high profile US films. His highest profile film was The Lawnmower Man? Probably.

It's reasonable to assume Cary Grant was the frontrunner to play Bond in 1961. Apparently he didn't want to commit to many films and his age at that time wasn't ideal for the character of Bond. Roger Moore would have been very high on the list and second choice perhaps had he not been contracted to the Saint tv series. It's no surprise Moore did get the part as he was the logical frontrunner after DAF was released and The Persuaders tv show was not renewed for a second series.

Kinnear may know Johnson isn't going to be Bond or maybe he's the backup choice. He may have an insider source at Pinewood or wherever telling him Johnson is liked by Eon but not guaranteed to have the role.

It helped thar there was no heir apparent to Brosnan. No potential Bond made consensus. I had my reservations against Craig and there were half a dozen names I'd rather have seen cast at the time. But another fan would have had another set of names. And we'd hate the actors on each other's list. I was skeptical about Craig's casting, but I never became a Craig hater because I was also glad Clive Owen or Jude Law were not cast.

I'm going to be honest and I'm not looking to all of them (some or few of them there were good), but yes, those people in the AJB tend to complain and criticize all things Bond, the majority of them were focusing on the accesories, luxuries of Bond (think of The Bond Experience channel with that Zaritsky guy, they're pretty much that way), and it's hard to understand them really with regards to their thoughts.

Yes CBN is much better, it's still going until now, haven't checked Bond and Beyond yet.

B&B is our favourite sister forum. It was founded by people who didn't like the look of this forum. And the fact that sexual content and swearing are not appreciated here. Then it was swiftly populated by pretty much everyone we banned here for trolling and spamming. Amusing lot.

This is exactly how I wanted Craig's Bond to look like. Longer hair and the comma. His inner Dalton shows more with longer hair.
