Has anyone seen a show called Hotel Portofino? I wonder if Judi Dench's nephew Oliver Dench could end up being a candidate?

A tad youthful looking. When was this picture taken?

I believe he probably would have been 29 when that was taken (he's 30 now). Here is a picture of him from the sci-fi show Pandora. He was probably 26 in it:

He probably is too young right now, though I don't think he looks too boyish for his age. But I figured if people can mention Harris Dickinson and Harry Styles, then why not throw his name out, especially when he's a part of such a great acting family.

He looks less youthful, by which I mean more rugged and Bond-esque, than some of the contenders that are older than him in these pics. Based on these I wouldn't mind him being given an audition.

I thought of looking up his height. Varying reports. As if he's alternately promoted or dismissed for the 007 role.

    6′ 0¾″ (1.85 m).
    5 feet 8 inches or 173 cm or 1.73 m.
    6 ft or 183 cm.
    5 feet 6 inches.
    6' 1″ (185cm).

He has his aunt's frown, lol. That could qualify him for a future M.

Okay Judi's nephew is cute but not what I personally want in a Bond (re looks; I'd rathe not have a "cute" James Bond).
Anyway, I do think they will switch the tone of the films a bit. Craig was a great Bond, fine actor, and his Bond was realistic, gritty, psychological, and grueling.
I do not expect a huge flip to more like the Moore days but I do expect a change. I have not seen anybody yet as a great candidate, but I'll stay hopeful. I don't think we will get an answer from EON any time soon.

Yes @4EverBonded I more than half expect the next film will concentrate on a grand and enjoyable mission.

The Bond character had an unusual focus the previous five films. As successful and enjoyable for me as that was and is, it doesn't actually make sense to continue that. Drama can come from the caper and players other than Bond himself. With the established film formula.

I was discussing potential next Bonds with Mrs.Benny and Benny junior last night. They have zero like for the Bond films, though will occasionally watch them with me.
On the possibility of ATJ in the role, they both agreed he'd be a good choice. I haven't been completely sold on him myself. But he does have a look, the charm, is a decent actor and would not look out of place playing James Bond.
I can understand why he's getting some media buzz for the part. I think he would appeal to the general public, as well as some of the Bond fandom. Though obviously not all of us.

Broken record here, but I just can’t get past his voice. Recently I watched an interview with ATJ and he sounds like prepubescent boy; that is not right for Bond.

Yes, the voice would definitely need work, I think.

As I said, he’s not going to appeal to everyone. Though I don’t think that would be possible.
But if he ticks most of the right boxes, especially for EON and the studio, then you’d have to surmise he’s a potential actor for the role.

Judi Dench's nephew could be one for the future, he has a better look than some of the younger candidates so far.

As for ATJ, he'd need to get some coaching to lower the register of his voice and also he needs to stop pouting in photos. I know that seems quite mean, but it's not doing his tough guy image any favours

Based on these two photos, goodness NO from me. He could, however, play a Bond villain, maybe one who designed Italian shoes as a front for his nefarious schemes.

Getting a smarmy Gustav Graves vibe from that last image. He's just taking the piss here, and there are many other photos where he's not pulling some face. This is not one of them:

I’m not necessarily sold on ATJ as the next Bond, but goodness me, do people not understand that he’s an actor? What does him pouting in pictures have to do with his performance as Bond? Even the voice thing is overhyped, but I feel I’ve pointed that out too many times in this thread...

As for Judi Dench’s nephew, has anyone actually seen him in anything (other than these pictures?) Can’t say I have myself but I can’t say he has any potential until I do.

I get that completely, but Bond is a different beast. You're not just an actor playing a role, in people's mind you have to embody James Bond on and off camera. I think brand partners feel the same way, I personally don't think it's fair and it's an awful lot of pressure, but it's very exclusive club to say you've been James Bond and that comes with a price.

I think this is why as a reclusive, very private person Daniel was the perfect Bond in this day and age. He wasn't available or accessible, so when he chose to come back in the spotlight for each film, it was an event. It helped casual audiences look at him and go "there's James Bond". Precisely what the producers want

I wouldn’t say that’s quite accurate. Craig had several moments where he was criticised for exactly what you stated - that he didn’t come across as Bondian in his private life. Remember the strange little rant Piers Morgan had about him carrying his child in a baby carrier? Or the fact that he openly said that he enjoys going to gay bars over straight ones? Hell, the man wore a velvet pink tuxedo jacket to the NTTD premiere.

It’s an impossible standard to set in that sense and I don’t think it’s even a requirement. The fact is none of the actors have been able to necessarily embody Bond off-set. Connery with his early on-set balding, Scottish accent and tattoos wasn’t Bond. Moore with his humorous self depreciation, Lazenby with his hippie hair/moustache etc. Their job come promotion time is not to continue to play the character but to represent the franchise in a positive way and help sell the film.

No to ATJ for many reasons. I'm intrigued by Dench her nephew. He has quite a good look, a strong look which will get better with age. Colour me interested.

Glad to see you’ve opened your horizons for the next Bond.

There's an actor in Emmerdale with a reasonable Bond look. Lawrence Robb. Age 30. Scottish.

Obviously you have to imagine him playing a tough secret agent. You can't tell from that clip of any potential. I dunno!

Margo Robbie was in Australian soap Neighbours and she went to Hollywood so soap acting isn't a barrier to film success.
