Bond 7 is here! :D
I see what you did there.
What does it take to change the essence. Of a haircut.
What's with the Zoolander face?
I think it was the right decision personally, it immediately separates him from the other Bond's and says a lot about his character. He looks tougher for it, although it was probably too short for Skyfall though
I agree 100%
I know Idris Elba doesn’t like to refer to himself as a black actor and thinks he is too old for the role but he would have been such a good Black Bond. Luther was too blue collar for my liking.
Elba is sadly too old now, it not going to happen, like a few other possible Bonds, Fassbender, Hardy...
Did you post this for a reason or do you just enjoy cringing?
I am big fan of IE, especially Stringer Bell and John Luther. But instead of pitching him as Bond, isn't it time for a spy series created for a black actor? I am not thinking of a rehash of I Spy.
Yes! I would love to see IE in a stylish spy film.
I agree, @M_Blaise. At this point, it's bordering on spam.
For me, Idris Elba will always be Stringer Bell. Honestly I don't think he ever had such a good role afterwards. I think he would make a great Mr Big with a few extra pounds on.
I still think he could make an excellent “M” , particularly if paired with a younger Bond.
The only issue I could foresee with that is either EON or Elba wanting to get a younger M out in the field still. Then we'd be back with the 'Scooby gang' again.
I'd prefer if the MI6 regulars are kept more office bound with the next Bond.
A bit like Ralph Fiennes, who was mentioned in the media some 30 years ago as a potential Bond?
I think Elba could provide a nice balance; he is at a pivotal age where he , sans hair color, can take on the role of an elder department leader but could also be very convincing in the field.
I don’t want to see a return of the “Scooby Gang” “ but “ M” involved in some limited action, where he draws on his skills as a former field agent, could be fun. Elba could pull this off very well.
Keep them office bound and in an integral early scene, maybe popping up once more at the end, and I'd be a happy man, regardless of who they cast. All I ask is they don't continue having them in the field so prominently and featuring them so heavily in the action with this next era.
I don't think I can handle another late night fridge raid by Moneypenny while Bond engages in the most boring car chase ever put to screen.
It's not M's place to be in the field. Especially not to do an operatives job. I think M being present in the field was a way to ease communications with Bond and have both characters in the same room, but it got overused, sometimes to the absurd. I'm all for having M talk to Bond in other places than his office. But let's keep the travelling to the strict minimum and forget the globetrotting office.
I agree, and don’t think it would be an “ in the field “ situation. Any action involving “M” would be a unique , limited situation.
“ What about these rumors you’re in talks to play James Bond?
It’s flattering. You can have something really positive [written about you], but you can also have something really negative that can circulate. You just want to stay in your lane, stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world. Because the moment you start believing the shit people say about you, you’ve lost your fucking mind. You’ve lost it.”
Predictably vague, and a convenient segue. I think his answer confirms he is at least in talks.
Spam ? Oh, I LOVE spam ! How about some spam spam spam eggs and spam ?
(Suggest this dialogue be delivered by John Cleese's Q...if you don't know, please look up Monty Python, of which Mr. Cleese was a member, for The Spam Skit)
