Who should/could be a Bond actor?

He'd actually make a really good henchman, if not a main villain. He's a good character actor.

Dastmalchian is criminally underrated and a very sweet guy to boot. He'd make a really terrific villain or even a henchman.

I feel like the franchise tends to look for people who not just want to be in another big movie, but wanted to be a part of the Bond family, and he strikes me as someone who gets it more than others. If he says he has something to bring, let's see it.

I STILL think Sope is the best candidate. He's alpha, he has great fashion and looks good in most things he wears, he's athletic, has swagger...

I don't care what his skin color is. He exudes all the traits I want to see in Bond, and the other candidates don't have them like this guy does.

And I don't have an agenda. I just don't, lol. I just find this actor very appealing on all fronts-- it's as simple as that.

And I understand why others disagree with me. Doesn't make that person a racist, and it doesn't mean I have an agenda, lol!

    It's just an opinion.

I also think casting a man of color has problems when it comes to marketing and distribution in certain countries. I just don't see it happening just yet. At one time I thought it was possible, not anymore.

    Sadly.

I think there's still a chance. They changed Dr. Who into a woman without much problem. I agree he's the best candidate at the moment, although I don't think much of him myself. He's just the best of a not very special bunch, in my opinion.

Without much problem? I don't know about that, it caused a bit of noise. Chibnall wanted a female Doctor from the outset, and I suspect cast the first actress he could think of, without stopping to think of whether she could do it. She was badly miscast, but his awful writing certainly didn't help.

Well I don't watch the show so I can't comment on the quality. I know some people weren't keen on it, but enough people seemed to like it or at least thought it was good enough. Did the ratings drop significantly?

Her first episode pulled in (over a seven day period) 10.54M views, while her last pulled in 5.1M view. Though the lowest of her era, was one of the specials which had 3.4M, the lowest in Doctor Who history. The overnight figures are even worse (so it is being generous to look at the 7 day figures). Compared to her predecessor who had a slightly higher high, and not quite as low a low. The decline has been happening for some time.

If we get Bald Bond then they need to get a bald “badass” to play the part. I elect Jason Stathem for the first Bald-Bond!

Well, I suppose we've already had Sean Connery who was technically the first 'bald' Bond.

Yeah but they still gave him the toupee’s to wear on screen. Nowadays I feel like Bond has undergone so many different interpretations in and out of film that we probably could get a “Bald Bond” on screen at some point.

Well, in fairness I don't feel it's gone through that many interpretations in the grand scheme of things. But I think if a bald actor were to take the role they'd wear a toupee (and in all honesty I don't think it'd be a major point against the actor in the run up to the film, at least not compared to some of the other scenarios I mentioned).

I wonder how people would react if an American was cast as Bond out of nowhere.

I can tell you I'd react very badly.

I must say now, with each passing day, it has now gotten to that time when Craig's Bond is now really beginning to look like a former Bond. I think this delay would favour Bond 7 and make him explode on screen. The more gap from Craig's Bond, the better for the success of Bond 7, as he would be fresher with the distance.

Exactly, they need to make Bond 26 as bombastical as possible so people forget about Craig, introducing the new Bond and its era like it should be done.
A.k.a. the next Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

Forgive my cynicism, but what I fear is that if we were given another GE or CR for Bond 26, then Bond 27 has the same unenvious task of following a high-bar film up. TND and QOS are films that I like now but struggled with when they came out because they weren't another GE or CR.

While I do really love QOS, I think I'd take that sort of "risk" if it meant getting another really amazing opening for a new era that left us excited over what would come next.

I suspect that GE and CR will indeed be the models for introducing a new Bond. Hey, we could do a lot worse, right? Have to say, I loved QOS from the first viewing and didn't feel remotely let down. Quite the opposite: it was exactly what I wanted and exactly where I wanted the series to go. The new guy getting an opening one-two punch like CR and QOS would be perfect for me.

I very much liked that chap Aaron T-J in Avengers Age Of Ultron, although he looked a bit young there (not a problem now). If he really is the next Bond, I'm happy. But whomever they pick and whatever they do I have faith it'll be good.
After the noble experiment that was NTTD (not as big a hit as they wanted or probably expected) I think they'll fall back on what Bond said in TND ("Give the people what they want!"). Smaller budget, leaner production, back to basics.

After a long hiatus, we have a few new pages of comments. But it’s the same old balls. A few of you banging on about Sope, the rest; Aiden. Not forgetting the usual regurgitated messages about Bond from the books. Can someone please post some footage which demonstrates why Sope would be a good Bond??? Nothing I have seen of him suggests Bond whatsoever. He’s ‘masculine’ you say? I say- so what????

Certainly the Whittaker run continued to get flack, but I think the fact of a female Doctor became a non issue to all but the most die hard on it after her first season.

    .
    Neither do I.

When I was referring to race baiting, it was to do with 2 certain members earlier in this thread, who started accusing people who wanted a white actor to play Bond (or someone who matches Fleming's description, in my case) to be racist.

The chances are EON may be choosing a complete unknown, who is not on anyone's radar.

And in my opinion there are only 2 possible candidates that I would be happy with currently - Aidan Turner or ATJ.

    Can you act?
    Are you tall enough?
    What colour is your hair?
Is your voice appropriate for the role? (Not like ATJ apparently)
If you can answer yes to all of the above, then you have a strong chance by the MI6 community to be James Bond. ;)

You'll need to dye the hair, like Connery, Moore, Dalton and Brozza had to do... ;)

Does anyone know if Craig had dyed his hair at all playing Bond?

I think he specifically said when he got the role that he didn't want to dye his hair. His other contribution was suggesting he cut his hair shorter because his suited his Bond more.

I think dye may have been added in NTTD, as he is looking visibly greyer now, and there are certain shots when his hair has an unnatural brown/orange tint edge to it.

In Skyfall, his beard (and his hair) when he returned to MI6 was grey, but went back to dark for the rest of the film, so, possibly, there's some bits of dying happened in there.

In SPECTRE, I'm not sure, as it's not obvious (maybe due to his hair being blond as well).

But in No Time To Die, possibly not, as the film was intended to show Bond at his old age, so the grey hair really mattered in that film (and that's why his romance with Madeleine was all the more uncomfortable, because he really looked older in that film opposite Seydoux, the age gap was all the more obvious).

    So, maybe in Skyfall.

Then again, it was supposed to be set 5 years earlier.

Ah I get you now. I dunno, his hair's lighter anyway, his greying is pretty subtle, and there's stuff like lighting/colour grading in the film to account for, so it's a bit hard to tell. To be fair I noticed his temples looking a little greyer at times during the film, but it's quite subtle and he's playing a Bond in his 50s anyway.

It'd make sense if they did for the Matera sequences just to highlight the time gap maybe.

EDIT: Apparently no, he didn't dye it, at least for the majority of the film. In fact it was allegedly embraced due to the character being older in this one: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7793325/Daniel-Craig-James-Bond-grey-locks-No-Time-Die.html

According to that article, he dyed his hair in QoS. I can't say I really noticed.
