Brosnan did. Craig did. Heck I'm sure Roger Moore did in his days.
I mean, more female fans.
At least he doesn't look like the ugly brother of a Bond actor.
Afraid to ask, but, who does? :-/
Don’t encourage! 😂
Too many candidates IMO.
Let's leave it that way.
point for me, two strong candidates who could do a great job in the role; one has a higher profile and experience while the other is a decade younger and the qualities to “ become “ James Bond. Except for one exception, It is a star making role and both actors seem up to the task.
My feelings exactly. Plus, those two have the best voices ;)
So, shall we send EON our results? ;)
Oh, no doubt there will be.
I think you could make a good case for any of those four and I think any of them being cast would satisfy most fans
I just wonder if that expressive quality is what we want from Bond. I don't really think of Bond (any version) as a very expressive character, as much as a composed, understated one. I guess Dalton was quite expressive, but I think that was more down to his theatre background.
Huh?
I think within the framework of James Bond some of the actors were more expressive than others. I’d say Connery and Moore were actually quite expressive Bonds while Craig and Brosnan in his first two were much more understated. But obviously there are shades to these things. Moore and Connery had their share of subtle acting and Craig got two ‘single tear’ scenes.
Bullet. Dodged.
Was he a missed opportunity? Did Campbell see something in him that could’ve been explored?
Personally I think Craig is the better actor. I think the films following CR with Cavill would’ve taken a very different path. No SF with an older Bond seeking relevance to continue.
I don’t mind Henry, but we can’t change what we’ve got.
Right now I’m on the Theo James train to take on the role. Who knows what’s in-store for us Bond fans .
;)
I think it could be interesting personally. He was pretty composed and understated in much of The North Water, so I’m sure he’d still play it cool at the card table, but that expressive quality coming out in the more heated moments, action scenes and the like, could be a good way of tapping into the side of Bond that gets off on the danger, which isn’t something the films have ever really explored in much depth. And it’d be a real contrast to Craig, who kept that side more hidden than most.
This could be his Layer Cake
I was watching the scene at Johnston’s party thinking, “This must have been what Barbara felt watching Layer Cake.”
He's right, chief said he ain't it.
I read and wrote it more as a Luke Skywalker: NO! ;)
Absolutely. Felt the same.
He's playing coy. He's a smart fella with a degree in philosophy ;) He says he's too Greek for it, then says his most Greek characteristic are his eyebrows. Surely he's seen Connery's :D
Yeah I thought that too mate. The fight in the first episode reminded me of the fight with Slate from QOS as well.
I think Theo James is an actor most people would be okay with, even if he wasn't their top pic
But that said, I think it may well be a case that many actors find when it comes to Bond. That's to say I'm not sure if he'd naturally bring to the role what they want from a new Bond/era, and a different actor may well do. Obviously I can't say for sure nor predict anything (he could well be Bond 7) but it's the case a lot of the time, even with actors who play very Bondian roles or seemingly have a lot of potential.
And honestly, it seems like James would agree. I genuinely don't think it's something he's too interested in. There's no benefit or game plan by saying openly that he doesn't think he's right for the role (like I've said, actors with these things don't tend to go into too much detail - he may well privately not want to commit to such a big franchise/job or whatever - but at this point there's absolutely no reason to dismiss yourself like that). Of course actors can change their minds, and if EON want him I'm sure they'd approach him, but there's no reason to suggest he's playing coy at this point. He probably doesn't want to do it.
I do also agree, with those who suggest that maybe he's playing coy. Never a good idea to be gushing or overly confident about taking on the role.
As far as screen testing and negotiations go, who amongst us knows truly how EON go about this process. Rog and Cubby negotiated every film from MR to AVTAK on a single film basis with Rog always claiming the latest film was his last.
My point is, there's a lot that goes on behind closed doors that we're obviously not privy too. Who knows what's going on, till we get an announcement from EON.
You can't deny that James has gained a lot of fans based on his role in The Gentleman.
Right or wrong, he's made an impact with fans of this forum.
