I think my top pick would have to be Christian Bale. Maybe it's possible, Roger was 45 in LALD. Age is even less of a concern nowadays.

It's a nice idea in theory, but... okay, he's younger than Moore was, and age-wise it just might be possible. Ignoring age, there's that caped guy already mentioned, which I imagine would be a huge hindrance even though it's not a current commitment. All in all too well known and established as an actor, I suppose they'd want someone less known. And I can't imagine why he'd want it himself - he doesn't need the money or the fame, and I assume he wouldn't want the long, multi-movie commitment of doing huge productions (he prefers smaller ones anyway) that would limit his other choices. When he signed that 3 movie deal back in 2003 it was, among other things, an opportunity to increase other options, now it would be the opposite. He was also that much younger, hadn't had as many injuries (not sure if that aspect would be a consideration or not, but it's there, anyway), and didn't yet have kids. He might have been interested then (he was asked about it in interviews), but I really don't think he would be now. He still drives the second hand Toyota pickup he bought around that time, but otherwise things have changed.
In short: I don't believe either side would consider.

That's true. It's strange how non of the actors of this generation has a voice which is special or good enough for Bond but if we get picky with that we will never find the next Bond.

This is how id rank the actors only by voice

1 Sean Connery by just saying one word you can identify his voice. Its a heads turning voice.

I was at the designing 007 exhibition and at the casino section they played many if the casino scenes i was checking a specific costume or picture and whenever Connnery's scene was playing by just listening to his Bond, James Bond right awaybinturned to watch tge video.

2 Pierce Brosnan a very nice mix between soft and deep, maybe his voice is not as powerful as Connery's but its a voice that does the trick when it comes to seducing the Bond girls.

3 Daniel Craig- very deep and commanding, the way he closed Casino Royale with the Bond entry was perfect.

4 Roger Moore- I don't like much his voice but it's definitely distinctive and perfect for the Bond movies he was in.

5 Timothy Dalton-Very good voice but lacks distinctivness, its not a voice that you distinguish right away.

6 George Lazenby- Very high pitch voice but like Moore its distinctive.

I like your ranking of the Bond voices! I might put Daniel's second myself as his voice is very authoritative. Pierce's is smooth, but his pronunciation of "Bond" often slips into the American pronunciation. Tim had an excellent voice, but sometimes hard to make out exactly what he said on the first viewing or two. For instance in Daylights his "DEATH to SPIES, Minister" sounded to me like "DEATH DESPISES me"...which pretty much makes no sense. I always liked Sean's voice even though it changed dramatically over the years. His NSNA voice is pretty much the same as in INDY/Last Crusade. Roger is always smooth.

Rik van Nutter had a sort of Clint Eastwood look.

A few years back I thought it a weird idea to have Clint as Felix, but now I think he would have been great with Sean. Especially in DR NO had Jack not done it.

I don't know about that, but the dynamic would've been epic.

Early on it would have worked, but after the Sergio Leoni trilogy no way.

Well, by the time the trilogy was made popular, Connery wasn't Bond, either.

No, there was a bit of overlap in the mid 60's. The firs "Man With No Name" film was released in 64

Well, You Only Live Twice came out in '67, but production on it was completed a year ago. Connery already said he won't do another Bond during and/or before the film was in production, and the Dollars Trilogy released its last portion in '66, so...

@ClarkDevlin would you enjoy 'The Rock' with Clint Eastwood instead of Nicolas Cage?

Thanks im glad you liked it and i as much as i love Pierce i was indecisive of my second place but i guess for me smoothness won over Authorative.

And i agree on how Sean's voice has changed over the years. His best was in the 60s though the one in the 90s when he did entrapment

    @Thunderpussy @DaltonCraig007

    Here's the premise:

Instead of having an analyst (Nicolas Cage) on board, the American CIA brings back a retired agent (Clint Eastwood) who captured John Patrick Mason (Sean Connery) in the 1960s all by himself, and they both will have to go and clear out the threat that is residing in Alcatraz. After such a problem has arisen, you call in... The Old Guys. ;)

No name? I thought his name was Joe.

Another article has surfaced that claims Hiddleston is out of the running to be the next James Bond, according to spy thriller writer Frederick Forsyth. Now 77-year-old Forsyth, author of best-selling spy novel The Day Of The Jackal, claims that an anonymous source told him there was “no way” Hiddleston would ever be handed the role.

He told the Mail on Sunday: “I got a tip the other day which I’ll share with you.

“I understand (Bond producer) Barbara Broccoli is absolutely no way going to pick Tom Hiddleston. No. Way.”

Make of that what you will. I'm sure the Hiddy defenders will claim it's either a bogus piece or Forsyth knows nothing about the future casting of Bond. Either way, I'm just reporting the rumour.

Strange claim. Perhaps Mr Forsyth knows Broccoli? Be interesting to look back at this claim in 16 months or so time!
  • Good. Hiddleston isn't right for Bond. Not 'man' enough and a bad actor to boot.

I caught an episode of Nip/Tuck a while back. How seriously was Julian McMahon considered? Is it known if he screen-tested?

McMahon would have been a better fit for Bond than Dr Doom. However, he suffered from the same syndrome as Elba and Hiddleston.

Damn, I would've loved seeing McMahon get a chance. Always liked him in 'Nip/Tuck,' it's a shame his career didn't kick off after that, aside from a couple of small roles in some poor films.

After seeing "Premonition" I would have never suggested him. It's amazing how the poorest films will bring out the worst in actors.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of better options than him, but it'd be a 'fan favorite' of mine, I suppose, since I grew up enjoying 'Nip/Tuck' when it was first on, and didn't know many people who did.

You could do worse, like Jamie Bell.

I think he could have been a very charming, yet intimidating 007; he really had both qualities.

I assume you're talking about McMahon and not Jamie Bell, right?
