    That's as bad as suggesting Robbie Williams for Bond.

    Why?
    Would certainly be a lot of fun. Gary Barlow can play Q.

    I always think, after the short, blonde one everything is possible with BB. I hope I'm wrong.

    In your Country 5' 10" might be short. But in the UK its average height for a male. So I don't really get your comment? Fleming had Bond at 6ft and slim. It was Sean Tha made the movie character taller and more well built.

    Craig doesn't exactly look anything like Fleming envisioned. It's not only his height, it's the whole package that screams henchman and not Bond. Luckily Campbell brought the best out of Craig. Lucky for him and us. Imagine Forster would have been first.

    Your views are at odds with box office performance and critics reviews, especially of Casino Royale. Its also a fairly shallow view considering his performances of the character are very Flemingesque. His ethic origin, physique, screen presence, charisma, acting ability, intensity etc are all perfect for the role.

    I think the closeness to Fleming's vision is the last thing general audiences are looking for in a Bond actor when you have some clamoring for the likes of Jamie Bell or Gillian Anderson.

    Craig is his own Bond. I didn't find all these accurate attributes about Craig's characterization of Bond and the Fleming creation in the same room. And neither did any of the previous Bonds, but they all have the background outline, just not the persona.

    Yep! They want the generic screen Bond but with a dramatic spin. That's the audience of today. To the general audience, Bond is just an action man working for the British Secret Service, donning a suit or a tuxedo, bedding women every five minutes and shooting his way in and out with a Walther PPK. That's what the general audience thinks of when they hear Bond.

    And that's why they see a guy in a tux or a BMW advert and think that they have found the next Bond.

    To be fair those BMW ads with Clive Owen are pretty great.

    The pendulum will swing again, as it is known to do. The net actor to take up the mantel will be a traditional Bond looking guy, and we will have a traditional Bond era again finally. However, just like Brosnan was said to be an amalgam of Moore and Connery, and Craig is said to be a amalgam of Lazenby and Dalton, the next Bond will be an amalgam of Brosnan and Craig. What that means is although we are in a more traditional lighthearted era next time, they won't disregard the Craig era completely. Now that a certain realism has been establish, they can't go back to the antics of Moore and Brosnan, it's just not that simple. They are going to have to find justifications, subtle and avert for why something is the way it is. Things cannot simply be anymore the audience won't accept it. So for instance if we have a Bond with a sense of humour, people will lose a sense of that edge to the drama. But if they can manage to explain, or better yet subtly imply or make evident the fact that Bond uses humour as a kind of coping mechanism to deal with the stress being in the line of fire on a daily basis, then you keep both parties happy. The dramatic edge remains intact, and yet Bond can still paddle in lighthearted territory. That's just one example, but they will have to apply this methodology to every aspect. This is why I stress the point of what exactly they will be looking for with the next Bond. When Le Chiffre had someone put that poison in Bond's drink, and Bond realised and looked across at Le Chiffre, did he scowl Back at Bond? No, he stared at him blankly, and we read the menace into his face ourselves. Bare that in mind when we are looking for candidates. It's not all about raw acting ability when it comes to Bond.

    Still a poor criteria to evaluate Bond.

    @Mendes4Lyfe, when you say:

    "and Craig is said to be a amalgam of Lazenby and Dalton"; who's saying this? I only read of you stating this opinion. No where else have i ever read this.

    As long as the chap in the BMW advert also has a strong body of work on which to judge his potential. oh that tunnel vision.

    Speaking of that chap in the BMW ad, he was pretty great in Inside Man as well. I've got to give that a watch again soon.

    People have referred to Lazenby and Dalton as the forefathers of Craig's Bond for a long time. If you really look at it Lazenby already had the more human side to him, as exemplified by that final scene. And Dalton a brought that steely determined Bond ready to throw out the rule book and go rogue. The blueprint was essentially there, and not only that but in a 1999 Hong Kong press conference for The World Is Not Enough, Brosnan even said this: "It is formulaic - which is it's strong point but I also think it has a weakness. I mean, I would love to see one take the formula away. To give the illusion of it at the beginning, but then to surprise. If you can surprise and have growth, then you'll have interest."

    Indeed, Owen would have been looked at with or without those spots; the implication that he was on the radar based only on those ads is condescending and shortsighted.

    Clive Owen would have been great. Just watch Children Of Men or Shoot Em Up or Beyond Borders just to name a few.
    Imho a great opportunity missed.

    I found Owen, like Dalton, to have the "look" but was dour and lacked in charm (to me he was very monotone, looked unclean, and I dislike him in most films I've seen him in, including Croupier)--

    I'll put the blindfold on now.

    Maybe, but Craig screams thug and henchman too on every corner. Patrice looks more Bond than Craig in SF's PTS for Christ's sake.

    Not to me. I think Craig has rough Connery look to him. Owen looks like a meteorite in comparison. =)) Patrice looks like a punk kid.

    I think Owen looks Bondian enough. As I said earlier, I think he could have done it easily, but not in 2006. He was already past it by then.

    This post concerns Aidan Turner, read on if you wish.
    This is interesting. It appears the writers of Poldark aren't sure whether or not the show will return for a fifth series. The third series is airing currently in the UK, and series four goes into production later this year, for a 2018 release. However, when it comes to a fifth series, the Writer Debbie Horsfield says it will depend on ratings whether the show returns. Remember, it was returning for the fifth series of Remington Steele that scuppered Brosnan's chances on Bond the first time around. If Bond 25 gets released in November 2019, that would conflict with Poldark series five.

    @Mendes4Lyfe

    ha ha...priceless.

    We'll see. For some faces alone it would be great to have Aidan as Bond.

    But as you know I am a fan of his since 10 years now ever since the first series of Being Human hit BBC.
    It's incredible what this guy already has as a body of work.
