To be fair, if we're talking about looks, Daniel Craig looks nothing like James Bond. I thought that was the point?

Craig looks like Bond in the face.

He looks like Bond in the eyes, that's about it. I though the idea of his casting originally was to eschew the traditional Bond image, now we are denying other actors for doing the same thing? Hardy looks more Bondian than Craig anyway.

I wouldn't dismiss Hardy on looks. A bit hypocritical given where we've gone over the years in my view. He won't be Bond because by the time Nolan gets it he will be past it. This Styles chap has a better chance. Still, Hardy is a good looking guy. Rugged and tough. He can clean up if he needs to.

@bondjames On paper Harry Styles in Dunkirk feels like a WB suggestion:

"A war film about a non-american event, with few stars? let's chuck a pop star in there to bring in the young demographic."

But apparently that's not at all how it went down. Nolan picked Styles, and in typical Nolan fashion he had no idea the kid was a famous pop star. He picked him because he thought he had potential. That lends credence to the prospect of him as a future Bond, possibly. We know how much Nolan likes to keep working with the same actors.

Nolan really surprised me with Hardy as Bane, Ledger as Joker and Hathaway as the Cat. Especially the last one. I didn't think anyone could come close to Pfieffer, and perhaps she didn't but she was one sassy cat nonetheless. I was impressed.

Like Tarantino, he knows how to get the best out of his people.

@Mendes4Lyfe, his penchant for working with folks he's tapped before is my only concern with him. He tends to overdo it a bit. Then again, even Tarantino has done that with Jackson. I still don't remember Styles in Dunkirk. I'll be seeing it again in a week and will look out for him.

Now I am in no way jumping on the Harry Styles bandwagon and becoming a staunch supporter, but I think an open mind must be kept. I know he comes from a pop music background, which should not be held against him, and his first film is Dunkirk. Nolan must have seen something in him that lead him to give him a role. I have to say that he has a good look in the photos I've seen from the movie and seems to possess an intensity that belies his pop roots. He's not ready now but visually I see potential as he nears 30.

For those who've seen Dunkirk, what do you think of Jack Lowden? I posted his pic on the last page (doesn't do him justice). He was quite memorable in the film imho. He was the other pilot.

I kept this in mind watching Dunkirk. I like him, and think he might have a good look for Bond. I think he could pull it off. A tad soft but he has potential.

Rather have Nick Rhodes as Bond than Styles!

Right, for the looks, the chap should look like a mix between these two:

Hm. I am now very torn between Turner, Styles and that guy.

If we're suggesting pop singers like Harry Styles as the next Bond, surely we must put this bloke in contention:

He deserves a comeback! :P He is "the one and only." Just like James Bond!

Just found this leaked set photo from Bond 25 and I have to say they've really outdone themselves in terms of sex appeal this time. Could be this generation's Honey coming out of the sea moment.

If he can mature enough in say five years or so (he'd be Connery's age then) maybe he could pull it off. If Craig does indeed do Bond 25 it would open a few candidacies like this one for his succession. And I for one would be very happy about it.

Can't see much Bond in him - I think we have to avoid picking names just cos they're in a high profile film. You never know... the next Bond (whoever it is) may appear in a very low profile film which the Bond producers just happen to see.

Better Dunkirk than King Arthur. He's still too young to look Bondian but give him a few years and maybe.

But yes I do agree that we should check for lower profile movies. And TV dramas and maybe even plays.
