Tom Hiddleston is better suited as The Saint.
Very true. As Simon Templar. Very, very nice observation, Thunderfinger.
The same used to be said of Roger I think. At least my father used to believe that.

Hiddleston could make a decent Steed too.

    He would, yes!

Tom Hughes, James Norton & Dan Stevens are my much preferred over all of those, all 6 ft or over.

I like Hardy but 5"7 are we having a laugh?

Cavill is a block of wood.

    But what about Turner...Aidan Turner.
Again can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd put him as a potential over quite a few others.

    You called ?

That's great. I think he could make a great Bond, and already has potential for a new direction after Craig, as a more outgoing, charismatic Bond but with a streak of danger and darkness. Also. I think that if there is a criticism of Craig interpretation, is that he is sometimes too sympathetic. Bond should be a bit of a b***erd, but not enough to put an audience off, but draw them in! That's a quality that Craig did well in CR, but lost as they explored his character is depth. Fleming always described a certain cruelness in his books, he is missing that debonair flair, which Turner could bring to the table potentially.

Otherwise I am really growing on Henry Cavill, or rather he is growing on me! I didn't think much of his acting but after seeing Fallout, he is growing. I think from a young age he had a lot of pressure in these big roles, and perhaps he is now only just adjusting to it. He seems more natural in Fallout compared with any film I have seen him in, which admittedly is few.

Tom Hardy I think is another good choice, he would bring a physicality to it, which he usually brings with him, Batman/Mad Max. There are a few other who could also have potential, but after seeing Kong Skull Island last night, I have never been more certain that Hiddleston is the worst or least favourite of all the options to me. It doesn't matter how many muscles he has, there's simply nothing he says or does which comes across as masculine or commanding in the way Bond should. If he got the role of Bond after Craig, I would be genuinely gutted, (sorry to his fans).

Dutch or not, I still think Michiel Huisman is one of the better for the part.

I vaguely recall seeing Huisman in GoT. I like his look but don't know enough about him. It probably won't happen though.

Give 'The Night Manager' a watch if you haven't already @Mendes4Lyfe. It might make you change your mind on Tom Hiddleston. Similar to how I changed my opinion of Turner. Whilst he's not my favourite potential Bond, I could see him as Bond.

Is that Ruth Wilson in the last photo? Think she could have been a decent choice for a female Bond villain.

In all seriousness, the next Bond actor is still probably only aged 25 to 28 and is under the radar to most people, making appearances in Holly City, Casualty and various other TV dramas.

Luke Thompson from In the Club? Maybe? Rubbish melodramedy but he held his own in it.
Wasn’t he also the lead in Nolan’s Dunkirk? Yeah, someone like him that’s not on anyone’s radar yet.

Was he? I haven't seen the movie but understood he had a small role in it.
I think perhaps I’ve got Thompson mixed up with Fionn Whitehead in Dunkirk. I’m not too familiar with either actor’s work to be honest. Either way, they’re both relatively unknown quantities, so the sentiment is still the same.

Goran Visnjic is a Croat, and was screentested. Huisman doesn t have a Dutch accent. He has been convincing as both Americans and Englishmen.

He does look better bearded and rugged. What I’ve seen him in he does have screen presence, can act, but also has an understated nice guy vibe that he would have to lose. Still I’d like to see a screen test

Probably. Thompson had from what I understand a very small role. He hasn't done much outside stage work and I know little about him. So I'm throwing his name here as a wild guess. I think he has the right look and the right professional background, although still thin on screen. He may be all wrong, but I'd rather they go for a relative unknown.

Regarding Tom Hardy - he played a CIA spy in 'This Means War':

It's hard to say if he's giving any real Bond vibe in that trailer. Bond is Bond, other spy roles are other spy roles! If cast I'm guessing he'd be closer to a Craig type Bond.

I read someone’s comment (somewhere) claiming that they didn’t want an ex-soap star. I just want to clarify (and I’m sure that you’re in agreement with me here @Ludovico) that we’re not advocating a soap star for 007 but someone that has most likely made a few appearances in one of these hospital dramas or something similar. Most people forget that the majority of big name English actors have at some time appeared in either Casualty, Holby City or The Bill. It’s where they tend to first cut their teeth and get some recognition. I include Tom Hiddleston, Kate Winslet, Orlando Bloom, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfred Molina, to name but a few. Even Daniel Craig made an appearance in Nick Berry’s “Heartbeat” and he’d been working and acting for many years up until that point.

Two more 'candidates' emerge, perhaps predictably.

An Asian Bond? It was only inevitable, given the film's success.

Madden gets his time in the limelight. I've yet to see this Bodyguard show.

I thought it was inevitable that Madden gets thrown into the ring.

The publicity for Bodyguard and the stills as soon as I saw them thought here we go again, personally not seeing it.

As for Bodyguard it's from the same pen as Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio so gets my vote and look forward to it. I've only seen Series 1, 2 & 3 of LOD but boy they were great and I hope to catch S4 when it ends up on Netflix UK.

I had previously dismissed him after seeing him with Elba in The Take (aka Bastille Day).

However, he seems to have beefed up a little and has more maturity to him now, at least based on the clip below. He'll do the rounds for a while on account of this, no doubt. Show looks good.
