Insofar as Reeves himself seems very inspired by Nolan's approach (realism, etc.) with perhaps an additional touch of elements from comic books, I can't see how much Eon could be influenced by this reboot, beside having a younger leading role and a new supporting cast. I even feel like it's Reeves who seems to be inspired by how the Bond series was relaunched with CR, so I don't think The Batman can add much to Bond 26, except maybe the already mentioned two elements. Especially since The Batman will be a hard-reboot.
I think the most important element on how to judge or not future movies as soft-reboot or loose continuity would be the supporting cast. Like you said, a film like LALD is still a possibility if Fienne, Harris, Kinnear or Whishaw return. But as soon as none of them is brought back and Bond 26 decides not to mention the slightest event of the Craig era, it would be difficult to not see it as a soft-reboot. Anyway, I don't think any of us really want a new origin story. The main thing is to move forward and, as you said, it could be a chance to do something fresh which probably is needed after Craig.
Personally I would be happy that the new Bond is synonymous with a new supporting cast with the introduction of characters like Loelia Ponsonby, James Molony.
Exactly.
In the novel it's more of a setup to the following novels with SMERSH being the main enemy.
Also I'm gonna post this clip again cause I know it might seem far from what we're looking for, but just this whole scene makes me want to see Taylor-Johnson give 007 a go. Although maybe don't watch if we wanna watch Outlaw King at some point. Chris Pine is the lead in this film, and this scene stole the whole show for me.
Bar Robert Pattinson I don’t regard those actors you mention as ‘wooden’ though. But I do regard Dornan as such. 🤷♂️
Pattinson is one of the most exciting and terrific actors working today. If you haven't seen Good Time, High-Life or The Lighthouse yet, then I recommend you spend some time in quarantine correcting that.
If Pattinson wasn't Batman already, he'd be my No.1 choice for Bond. In fact, the Batman fans are in turmoil that Batman has decided to not be an overly-muscly Batman. Some are even saying Pattinson should step down from the role.
I love Batman as a character, but it be a dream if he ditched Batman and went to Bond. Even the one-time Bond 25 director, Danny Boyle thought Pattinson had what it took to be be 007.
Daniel Craig was a 'Steve McQueen style' Bond. Pattinson would of been a 'James Dean style' Bond.
But he's Batman, so I think Dornan would be a terrific choice...........................
Or....Richard Madden figures out a way to grow a few more inches.
I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I’m on the same page as you.
Same here to be honest.
Although maybe now is time for me to suggest me son again. He's three and a half so at this rate he'll have the right age when the role is available.
Precisely. Trying to envision Robert Pattinson as Bond for me is like trying to picture Keanu Reeves as an appropriate choice back in the '90's.
I’m starting to see Hoult as a very strong potential contender.
Good actor, growing into his looks and looking a lot less childlike.
Can do humour, drama and action.
Also has a descent resume of work, without pricing himself out of the role. I suggested him several years ago. I think now or soon could be the time for him to make the role.
I'm sure Keanu Reeves was mentioned by some gossip columns back in the days. I see two arguments for him: 1)he'd attract barely pubescent teenage girls. 2)he's Canadian so not American.
For the record I know they're rubbish ones.
I disagree. Comparing Pattinson to Dean is laughable. ‘The Batman’ is yer to be released and it’s success and performance is TBC.
👏👏
There isn't a single candidate that looks the part or is an apt promise in itself.
If people want a thread to talk about how cute boys are, do create one, alright? Bond is not about cuteness or handsomeness, as Craig so aptly showed us for the past 13 odd years.
The other cast I would choose includes Lennie James as M, Vanessa Kirby as Moneypenny, Riz Ahmed as Q, Joel Edgerton as Felix Leiter, and Daniel Bruhl as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. I think the only thing about this that is unrealistic is Callum and Vanessa appearing in those roles together, as they used to date, so I don't think that would end up happening, but I believe these would be pretty solid choices.
Some of you may have seen this before by the way.

Looks like he could be a good Gustav Graves when he grows up. ;)
Reminds me a little of Simon Quarterman from Westworld for some reason.

I just Callum Turner has something, like I've said before, I wouldn't cast him now, but in four or five years time, I think he'd be great and could potentially be a mixture of Craig and Brosnan in terms of tone and style. This image was six years ago, and he's become a bit more of a leading man already in a few years so given more I think we have a potential James Bond. He has a good voice too - again in my opinion.
