  • That Chalamet is a talented wee guy but it sounds like you've never seen a Bond film before.

@HarmonyRockets I post pictures that exist of him. I don't have an agenda here, and yes @suavejmf, he is is of Venezuelan, Spanish and Welsh origin, but he grew up in London and is a British actor, (with one of his first projects being in Skins), but maybe you guys should just guess that I don't care if they decide to go with a James Bond of a different ethnic origin, as long as they're still actually British - but again, Harmony, please don't say I'm posting pictures to make him look more white cause I'm not. Thanks.

And again I don't think so @Pierce2Daniel, he's more suited to a future villain in my opinion, and yes Dune does put him on that list because it's a planned trilogy, same as Pattinson's Batman, so they'll both be very busy, whether the characters are that big or not. Also not to mention that despite similarities to Bale you mention, that doesn't mean their career path is going to completely mirror the other, and even so, Bale has never even been close to the role of James Bond as far as I'm aware - despite his looks.

And this is coming from someone who is a fan of Chalamet. I've seen all of his movies. I can't wait for Dune, loved Little Women and Lady Bird. I think Call Me By Your Name is great, and he's been great in nearly everything I've seen him in - but he's just not right for Bond, and I don't think a current online buzz is worth pitching him forward for James Bond. I think even fans of his work know this.

Anyway, I'm still rooting for these guys:

    1. Callum Turner
    2. Sam Claflin
    3. Aaron Taylor-Johnson
    4. Sean Teale
    5. Ben Aldridge

    Wow.

    Ha ha ha!

Much like your stereotypical quip about Scots being Ginger; “He’s harder a ginger highlander”.

No, not like that. Putting someone's actual name in inverted commas because you prefer your own race-based nickname for him isn't the same as that at all. I know you like to draw inane false comparisons, but that one really doesn't work.

And I said 'hardly', not 'harder'- if you're going to pick folks up on their spelling then you should try to spell things right yourself.

It could just be the pictures people are posting of the potential candidates, but I've got to say they all have one thing in common, they don't look manly without facial hair. There are exceptions to the rule but for the majority, I can't picture them looking tough enough for the role without sporting a beard

I think Callum Turner is a solid candidate but he looks more like Eggy from Kingsman in that pic than Bond.

Yes, I think they do say that in those flat-earth conventions, don’t they?

No, no. Fact isn’t opinion. That, sir, is the right way to go about it, not the other way around. But we won’t go into this again because I’m not that niilist.

Ok just to clarify some things - what exactly is the "fact" that's being disputed here?

And I'm also intrigued on the reason some feel Barbara already has someone in mind?

    No idea.

I think there are some who want to present all opinions as valid and deny that there are such things as facts. But what are those exactly... beats me. Stupid argument really. Only came up because I said some suggestions were inane. Which they are. They really are. And that, my friend, is a fact ;)

Some men just want to see the world burn, some men just want a Honda motorbike to be Bond. Other want Chalamet. Others want Dev Patell, others Bruce Willis.

All and all, this thread is comical as hell.

I would think that they probably started talking about it as soon as they knew Craig was only going to do one more. A shortlist probably exists, even if the names on it aren't aware of it yet.

It's possible, and would be a very interesting list to see if it exists.

Keep the grumpy inane attempted ‘cyber bullying’ up @mtm!

You’re a joke mate. It’s hilarious. You just spent an entire post ‘having a go’ at 3 community members. You spent hours targeting @Univex the other week. Everyone can see it. Have you ever noticed that your the only member other members argue with on here.

Anyhow...... back on subject if we are talking of a suitable candidate who has a slightly Mediterranean look (or however Fleming put it), but is British....we are back onto Aidan Turner.

I have to say quickly again @suavejmf, Sean Teale is British, with Venezuelan, Spanish and Welsh heritage. He was born and raised in London.

And can we all calm down on the unnecessary squabbles. No-ones cyber-bullying or being malicious.

I accept all that. But to me he actually looks Spanish. He could actually be recast as Dario (looks wise IMO).

I respect what your saying, but that’s my view.

I’ve never seen his acting, just basing this on the photos.

And that's fair, I think that's what @mtm is trying to say. I don't think he's trying to bully your opinion, he's just trying to make sure that those of us who have these views on Bond's possible alternative ethnicity are still able to discuss that.

Anyway, for me, I just feel Teale has the smooth British charm, and other qualities to be a cool version of the character. But I also understand that other people would much prefer the more classic approach - even if I feel changing the ethnicity up a little bit wouldn't change that.

I get what your saying in the clip.

But for me, his look doesn’t work for Bond. The only analogy I can think of it is that it would be like casting Robert Redford as Micheal Corleone (I think that was actually suggested in real life), but it doesn’t work for me. He doesn’t look typically Italian at all.

Teale is all you say. But he actually looks Latino. I personally just want traditional casting for 007.

    Many others don’t, I do.

I get wanting a classic look completely, but as for the analogy, Corleone is fundamentally an Italian character within the world of the mafia, and even in todays world, would still probably be played by an American with Italian descent, because that's the role, and everything about the story and the world influences that...

...but with James Bond, I don't think it's the same anymore. We're in a world now where a British person working for the secret service could be from any ethnic background. But again I'll stress that I understand the desire for a more classic actor.

    All you say is true.

But I’m still wanting traditional casting.

White British as it’s always been since 53 and 62.

But I could be proved wrong.
