But of course acting and presence are perhaps more important. If you just showed me a picture of Daniel Craig without my having seen him in anything I might not have thought he’d be a good pick for Bond, but he completely sells the role on screen.
He's fine, I just haven't seen him carry a movie so I'd be slightly worried about him. Decent in TV stuff though.
Then again, I also don't believe I've seen Turner in anything yet.
Yes, I did see those! Loved the first one but the trilogy got progressively worse. That third one was real awful.
If Turner is cast (which I find less and less likely), I sure hope he matured as an actor since playing Kili. Because he was bland from bland.
If the whole Bond role falls through for him he could always pop up as Nick Nack in a new version of The Man with the Golden Gun. He's got form. ;)
He is 6’, taller than Craig
Yes, I know. It was just my little joke as he played a dwarf in The Hobbit film series. ;)
He's not six foot, he's (according to IMDb) 5'10 3/4, which seems about right. He didn't look tiny in Poldark, but he didn't look a big man either, and in being human he looked about the same height as Russel Tovey (5'9''). I'm sure he's tall enough for the Bond film crew to make look right on screen like they did with Craig, but he really isn't 6 foot, imo.
He lacks Hervé Villechaize's presence and onscreen charisma.
Speaking of, how reliable is this?
Bond actor heights measured barefoot by tailors associated with the franchise
Timothy Dalton: 6'2
Sean Connery: 6'1.5
George Lazenby: 6'1.5
Roger Moore: 6'1
Pierce Brosnan: 6'1
Craig wasn't listed but I believe he is a shade over 5'10.
Yes, I imagine he would though I've not seen him in anything. Villechaize was quite a character and that comes across fully on the screen in TMWTGG. I'd even go so far as to say that he's one of the highlights of the film along with Lee's and Moore's quality lead performances. He brings the same sort of magic as Wint and Kidd do in DAF. The Guy Hamilton Bond films did tend to have an interesting anf memorable array of villains and henchmen.
This fella also has quite the following, he's well known but not typecast in a role, and he has "the voice" and the eyebrows.
Good shout @Univex mate. I think Bateman is a dark horse for Bond #7, he just needs a few more films under his belt
I would say Craig likely got the deal cemented on Layer Cake, which he shows great star quality in. Brosnan starred in many films prior, Dalton had a few under his belt too. Moore had too, including cinema versions of the Saint, which made him a worldwide star.
Bateman I’m not sure about. I’ve been watching his Jekyll & Hyde which is fun, but he seems a bit awkward in.
Absolutely, no matter the background, the actor has to have the chops.
That picture is more convincing to me than the constantly reposted one of him sitting in his dinner jacket with a drink in hand. I am not totally convinced, but there is no-one, I am totally convinced by.
And it is interesting that he apparently is taller than Craig. My reaction to seeing him is mostly that I feel he is ... ... slight? But on the other hand, Bond doesn't need to be a bodybuilder in my book. He is (has to be, no matter who plays him) already way too good-looking to be a realistic spy if we are being honest. He shouldn't also be 6'3" and 220 lbs of muscle.
I don't see that being a requirement for a new actor, but more in line with how Daniel looked in Quantum or Skyfall, in great shape but more lean
I'm also okay with Cavill.
Really depends on what type of approach Eon choose to go with for the next film. They've really been playing it by ear during the Craig era and attempting to create a story arc after the fact. With a new Bond, I believe some solid planning should be in order if a story arc is created for his era.
Yeah, Craig’s build bod is a little silly to me, because a spy like James Bond wouldn't be able to maintain that physique,
Fleming's Bond does 20 push ups, legs lifts, toe touches and breathing exercises each morning. I've been doing that for decades and still don't have Craig's physique.
However, if I lay off the junk food I can just achieve Sir Roger's build in TSWLM with that work out.
