BOND POLLS 2015: Best Bond-films "GoldenEye" until "Skyfall" •••FINAL RESULTS•••

edited July 2015 in Bond Movies Posts: 11,119
I want to see this rating, because I think for most Bond-fans my age, "GoldenEye" was the first cinematic Bond experience. For me it was my 2nd, after I saw "Licence To Kill" as a 8-year old boy, but ever since "GoldenEye" I have my best memories. The experience is more crisp for me since that film. Also, "GoldenEye" meant the departure of "Cubby" Brocolli as sole producer. From "GoldenEye" onwards Barbara Brocolli and Michael G. Wilson would be the producers. So what would your ranking look like then?

Well, this is mine:
01) "Skyfall"
02) "Casino Royale"
03) "The World Is Not Enough"
04) "Quantum Of Solace"
05) "GoldenEye"
06) "Tomorrow Never Dies"
07) "Die Another Day"

Just out of curiosity....do you really think the Bond films from Craig are worse than those from Brosnan :-O? Not to mention "DAD", which ranks, according to you, higher than "CR" and "SF"? I'm quite stunned really....

  • Really interesting to see that -to my great pleasure- TWINE is doing so well :-). It's the most Fleming-esque portrayals of Bond by Brosnan. It doesn't have a cheesy tank chase. It does have more characterization and deeper motivations for each character. It is more emotional. And I wouldn't be surprised if Brosnan personally thinks it's his best outing as 007.

I think Brosnan has said before in interviews that TWINE is his favourite out of the ones he made because it was deeper and more in line with how he wanted his Bond to be. I agree with you on TWINE. I think it's a very underrated film and I've loved it ever since I first saw it. It's definetely a top ten Bond film for me.

But I disagree on the tank chase. One of the most exciting, original and memorable chase scenes from the series. The bit at the start of the chase where the villain thinks he's gotten away and then Bond comes crashing through the wall in the tank and the Bond theme kicks in, is one of my favourite moments of the series. It's a brilliant bit in a brilliant film imo.

    My favourite is TND.

Overall 'best' Bond, taking into account production, story, actor's performances, fight scenes, car chases, direction, music, general 'Bond' feel, climactic finale, etc, ...
I guess I'd have to go with Goldeneye, despite its rather lacking musical score.
