The thing about cognitive biases are that they are subconcious, and we are all guilty of them, even the most rational of us, even if we don't think we are. I am as well, although I may not think I am. So my voting may have been influenced subconsciously too, although I may genuinely deny that consciously. It's very difficult to test for. It's a fascinating field of study that behavioural economists & psychologists are just getting to grips with. There are big implications for the field of economics in particular & how it's taught. It kind of reminds me of that scene in SF with Bond being questioned by the MI6 psychologist.
Your results seem to be holding pretty steady, and it is that steadiness throughout the voting over days that makes this poll interesting. We are getting to a good sample size.
Amen to that!
Of the films on this thread, my most watched flicks are
1. TND
2/3. GE/QOS (about equal)
4. TWINE
5/6. DAD/CR (about equal)
7. SF
For me these are the ones I watch most often, and enjoy watching the most (as of today):
1. SF
2. QoS
3. GE
4. CR
5. TND
6. DAD
7. TWINE
My original ranking was as follows:
1. CR
2. GE
3. SF
4. TND
5. QoS
6. TWINE
7. DAD
Make of that what you will. Interestingly, even though I ranked CR very high (and think it's my favourite), I don't watch it that often (as you and I discussed in a previous thread re: FRWL, it's the pacing, which is a bit slow in the last few acts. So I only get round to it when I'm in the mood for a slower pace). The human mind is such a puzzle
Great graph @Gustav, thanks for putting so much effort in. Just out of curiousity, and it may be tiredness kicking in, but what do you mean by "remarkable voter"?
Recency seems to have no effect on me, strange as that might be.
:-??
I think the more one watches it, the better it becomes, because you actually begin to slowly decipher what the bloody hell is going on during all the action scenes.
My favourite bit was Bond's stare down of Yusef Kabira at the end. I too would have wanted him to 'make it quick'. I thought the Canadian wet herself. Craig is such an awesome actor!
This and LTK are underrated gems, that grow on you.
:-?
2.TWINE
3.SF
4.GE
5.TND
6.QoS
7.DAD
2.CR
3.TND
4.TWINE
5.QoS
6.DAD
7.GE
This movie is really fighting for a 4th place together with QOS and TND. Just look at the nr. of 10's it got so far.
Which oddly was my reaction to LTK on first viewing didn't like it either, yet now it would be my #3 Favourite Bond film.
Indeed, it's odd!
Quite:
In an attempt to bolster the stats so that anomalies such as the above dont have any sway on the overall results let me add my rather more mainstream list.
1.CR
2.SF
3.GE
4.TND
5.QOS
6.TWINE
7.DAD
2. Goldeneye
3. Skyfall
4. The World Is Not Enough
5. Die Another Day
6. Casino Royale
7. Quantum of Solace
Jesus Christ. That's democracy folks!
But
" We all get our Jollies, one way or another "
That don't make it right mate! Jack the Ripper used to cut the lady's ears off 'just for jolly' but he's regarded as a mentalist. I don't really think we should allow anyone who puts DAD above CR to get away with the hackneyed 'everyone's entitled to their opinion chestnut.' They need locking up for the good of society.
2. Casino Royale
3. Goldeneye
4. The World Is Not Enough
5. Tomorrow Never Dies
6. Quantum of Solice
7. Die Another Day
I just can't help it to say this, but I'm quite happy "SF" solidifies its 2nd place :-P. Lovely to see that they are quite a few "SF"-fans here. Following posters gave "SF" the maximum of 15 points:
--> @mcdonbb
--> @Dragonpol
--> @jake24
--> @nobodydoesitbetter
--> @Dalton12
--> @Pajan005
--> @Shardlake
--> @OHMSS69
--> @4EverBonded
--> @ohfilms1
--> @Zorin61
Although that's nothing compared to the biggest chunk of 15-pointers "Casino Royale" got. And the films deserves it :-)!
Not even close.
rooted in reality. Sure it has got its faults and problems. But so does FYEO)
2. QoS (actually quite original story,lots of globetrotting - albeit much too rushed - very beautifully filmed)
3. DAD (strictly for its first half. Up until to Bond gets introduced to the "Vanish" this
Is quite sound 007 style to me.)
4. TND (if only for its Hamburg part sans the reckless destruction of the travel shop.
Terrible Beginning, uninspired plot and ending. About the PTS - knew Bond must be a master with a joystick between his legs , but even then this is just as laughable as the plane diving "stunt" in GE. Embarrassing wanna be style. )
5. CR (simply not the wonder some have made it to be. Just too much "unbondian" behaviour, generic action and much too much forced box ticking)
6. GE (is the reason why TND is the only Bond movie I haven't seen on the big screen. I just had had it after this one. Randomly and careless mass killing on full auto die hard style, not to mention Bond "flying" to catch his plane, and,and,and. Since every Bond since FYEO to me had be more or less a letdown I thought they just had lost it. It was not until a friend lent me a VHS tape of TND that its middle part convinced me that there was still some enjoyment to have with 007)
7. SF ( No logic,no ethics,no points )
GE is awful on almost every count. TND is largely rubbish as well, but significantly better than GE.
I couldn't be more on a different page with you. In fact, I think my ranking is completely the opposite! However, I respect your point of view, and why you feel this way....
Hm, that's the first time I've seen Casino Royale accused of that. Care to explain what you mean by that?
(This is not criticism, only curiosity ;) )
