I refuse to believe the logo is pure coincidence:

Naomie Harris, who plays Moneypenny, says she starts filming on Monday "behind a desk" with Daniel Craig.

Thanks very much for this. One of the better pieces of news today, along with the return of Thomas Newman. The rest was a bit 'meh' to me.

Given the use of the bullet in glass for the title photo, I wonder if time has moved on, and SPECTRE the movie is intended to be at a point in time when Bond is in his post-Tracy phase.

I also agree with a post I saw earlier regarding a possible other big-reveal in SPECTRE (i.e. Waltz might not in fact be Blofeld and there could be a surprise - think Interstellar for those who've seen it - there was a surprise there and we all know that Mendes loves to ape Nolan).

    I have a feeling we're missing a cast member.

The two songs played before the announcement: We Have All the Time in the World from OHMSS and the title song of DAF. Coincidence? Maybe... maybe not...

I'm liking Craig's hair here. Seems to be more in the CR style rather than the ultra short SF style.

Hi guys, now that i mangaged to get back in the site .. i've been wondering. I just read the Octopussy comic 2 days ago and it has a lot of elements that could fit in here. An event from the past .. Oberhauser (although in the novel he is dead for 21 years).. Austria locations .. ??

Also if "an event from the past" triggers the movie .. i would say that the 1st half would be set in Austria and the 2nd in Italy... (Belucci = villain's lair = villain??) leaving Mexico and Marroco for the PTS. What do you think?

Yes!!!!!!!!!! Quantum to return for SPECTRE. Hoooray

I'm almost as happy about getting this confirmation that Christensen is going to be back as I am about the new title! Almost lol! Could it be that Quantum did not evolve into SPECTRE but that it is one of the branches/tentacles of SPECTRE? The Extortion side of the company (think about QOS). A lot of people complained about the small scale of the operation in Bolivia in QoS but wouldn't that make sense that it is a piece of the overall big picture of SPECTRE? Also while I'm on this tangent let me add this little nugget: wouldn't it be cool if Silva was over the Counter-Intelligence section of SPECTRE? Like in FRWL we had them referencing Bond eliminating one of their operatives, Dr. No, well wouldn't it be cool if they referenced Silva in SP?

Brilliant! It would tie it all together well. I too think White will show up in the pretitles. Maybe Bond takes him out and then gets the cryptic message that there is more, much more that he was not aware of regarding Quantum..

@bondjames : It is what I've been saying all along :-)!! See this topic, my post from November 24th: http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1760/so-who-s-going-to-play-ernst-in-future-bond-installments#latest . And it's not only that, I think the actual story that Bond was explaining in "Octopussy", will now be re-used, but this time around the story will be seen on screen! It marks the first time since "Casino Royale" (2006) that original Ian Fleming story material will be used again. By jolly @bondjames, isn't this exciting :-P??

Read below for my post from November 24th:

Well this is making me laugh as we still do not know who the main villain for Bond 24 is then? If you are all convinced Waltz is Blofeld? He has a considerable role to play either way in this movie, but does Waltz want to return inconsecutive movies? Does Sam Mendes want someone else's idea and not his own like Skyfall?

Hence this post from me @RogueAgent ;-) :

Some interesting fact here that directly relates to Ian Fleming's short novel "Octopussy":
When James Bond came to visit Major Smythe in Jamaica, what crime was he investigating?

MI6 started investigating the assassination of an officer named Hans Oberhauser. After several years, a glacier in Austria melted and Oberhauser's dead body thawed out of it. Hans Oberhauser was a ski-instructor who taught the young Bond skiing. As he and Bond were close, Bond took the case and did the full investigation.

Hans Oberhauser was last seen in a motor vehicle with Major Dexter Smythe. Some years before he died. Mary Smythe had overdosed on sleeping pills, which she had taken "to teach [her husband] a lesson" after the couple had quarreled (alas, she had miscalculated the dosage). The housekeeper was alive and well, so was Octopussy, the hungry but elusive wild octopus of whom Smythe was so very fond off.

Now let's combine the above story from "Octopussy" with the news from yesterday's Daily Mail on Sunday-article, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2845621/You-weren-t-expecting-007-BLOFELD-S-Bond-having-kittens-evil-foe-returns-double-Oscar-winner-Christoph-Waltz-tipped-play-him.html :
Eon productions, which owns the James Bond film franchise, will announce the star is playing an unknown character called Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond.

But senior sources believe the casting is a double bluff worthy of 007 himself and that Waltz is actually playing Blofeld. One Hollywood source, who asked not to be named, said: "Christoph Waltz is playing Blofeld in the next Bond film. The tone of the 007 films has changed significantly in recent years and the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007."

Thanks @DoubleoNothing for mentioning this today in another insightful Skype-conversation. It completely escaped me ;-).

But I think The Daily Mail is drawing conclusions a bit too soon. Or in any case....there's a possibility that The Daily Mail can not fit the puzzle together completely just yet ;-). I know firmly believe Franz Oberhauser is a character in the film, most likely played by Waltz. But for me that tells me there's more behind all this. You just can not turn Oberhauser into Blofeld.

I think there's a possibility that Oberhauser slowly turns from ally into villain during the film. We actually see the process of Oberhauser turning into a villain. That leaves an opening to the character of Blofeld. Perhaps Dexter Smythe is Blofeld. And if that's the case there's a possibility that we get a very very late reveal during the movie of Blofeld. And perhaps because of that we probably won't even find out during the press conference which actor is hired to play Blofeld.

And suddenly, the Rettenbachferner glacier in Austria also makes more sense. Actually, the entire filming in Austria makes sense now. Also, I'm delighted to see how John Logan/Neal Purvis/Robert Wade/ Jezz Butterworth still manage to put new Fleming source material into a Bond film. Every Bond fan who admires Ian Fleming must like this bit of news ;-). And Bond 24 is now directly linked to wintersports and skiing.

Damn, what lovely continuity the Daniel Craig films have so far!! IF really true. Everything now completely fits! Everything!!

    FIRST,
we have the Ian Fleming short story "Octopussy", which actually will be used on screen this time in the 24th Bond film "SPECTRE" (In the film "Octopussy, Moore's Bond only explains the Dexter-Smythe story to Octopussy, but we never saw the story happening). Isn't that a marvelous idea?? It also means that this story could be interwoven in the "cryptical message" from Bond's past. I mean,

    AND SECONDLY,
I think many forummembers in here already mentioned, that it would only be logical if Jesper Christensen is playing Ernst "Mr White Cat" Stavro Blofeld in "SPECTRE". I mean, he was left alive off course in "Quantum Of Solace"! He's still enjoying his freedom. And by jolly, what could he have been up to during the events of "Skyfall".

I guess, that after QUANTUM got screwed/compromised completely by Bond, Blofeld (Jesper Christensen) must have thought: "We MUST DO BETTER". He could have reinvigorated QUANTUM, and then changed it in a way more effective, more sinister, more secretive brotherhood. Hence S.P.E.C.T.R.E.!

My God, we sometimes don't see the bigger picture of these Craig-films (We're still a bit too focused on the story per film). But, if the above proves true, then there's a wonderful, even much larger continuous storyline/theme that has started with "Casino Royale" in 2006. And then, we can see "Casino Royale"--"Quantum Of Solace"--"Skyfall"--"Spectre" as a wonderful Ian Fleming quadrilogy, which is full of layers, thematically and story-wise, and full of complex characters with wonderful background histories!

And here he is, a movie shot from "Quantum Of Solace", which was later deleted with much secrecy:

I wonder if Andrew Scott is playing the same role Elijiofor was running for? Unless the role was so reformulated that it became Waltz's role, but I doubt it.
  • Hmm the plot synopsis sounds very familiar, sounds remarkably similar to a recent Marvel film. Spectre quite happy with that, good call for the gentleman who informed us all days ago.

In my today post earlier today i had (some) of the same thoughts exactly, more even as i read Octopussy 2 days ago. It would make sense that the character of Dexter Smythe turned out to be Blofeld, and that all empire started many yeras ago quth the Nazi Gold found in Austria. And, instead of having a Obenhauser's daughter we would have a son, but who turned out to be a villain at the end? And what if Dexter Smythe is not a man but a "woman" Bolfeld???

Since I opened this thread, I just decide now, that it should be "closed" until we get more stuff reg. everything non Press release. Like this, we are having two thread with the same stuff, which is unneccesary. So - lets ignore this thread until further notice. Thanks. :)

Okay - so all Spectre chat goes back to the production thread, including speculation. We shall save this thread for true non press released info, with spoilers.

First, though, thank you Germanlady for the great photos and interviews and input!! :)
See you all back on here later ... :)>-
