Ahh okay, I stand corrected then.
It was a lyric video
The video I have often seen was the "lyric" video. Was that the official video?
BTW, folks: playing that WotW video crashed my browser both times...on separate computers. I think I'd proceed with caution.
The video put a whole new spin on the song too. According to SS himself it is from Bond's perspective but the video shows to me you can happily take it from the Bond woman's perspective too.
Agreed as well. I'm liking the song more now with those sensual scenes of Bellucci and Seydoux. What a lucky actor Craig is!
I'm very happy to see a proper music video this time around, even if Smith is still not my cup of tea. But he is less annoying on video than I expected.
The video does give it a better showcase, just very pumped for the film and as I'm not colour grading expert this element is not going to bother me, I'm just looking forward to seeing the film not doing a thesis on it.
You really 'feel' how incredible the acting is there. And Sam Mendes is right. And I always wanted it / said it: NOT just Bond girls for the good looks only please. Not just too many new breakthrough-actors please. I want beauty AND terrific experienced actors. And it's already showing off.
20 minutes?
THAT long??
Sorry, in my opinion the 'Writing's on the Wall' for this latest and hugely disappointing Bond title song. But, what do I know? - the song's already No 1 in the UK hit parade, the first Bond theme to top the UK charts! UNBELIEVABLE!
We had footage from the film in You Know My Name as well. :)
You're not wrong. Sam Smith may claim the charts don't lie and that may make a song popular but it doesn't make it good. Gangnam Style speaks for itself.
Rrrrrrrrrright. I'm well aware that sex and women play a role in the James Bond canon but romance? All of like, what, three times maybe? And even then he gets weird and hesitant and finds them overly annoying at points and has trouble committing meanwhile this song and the clips they picked to play leave the impression that our dear 007 is some sweeping storybook romantic like, as I said previously, some BS out of an MTV-esque Twilight montage. Sorry, gag. Maybe Sam Smith's vision of 007, but not accurate.
I cold go into a whole spiel here about how even with Tracy he was sorta forced into the situation as a means to get closer to Blofeld. I'd call it more in the heat of the moment smitten than full blown love, finding some resemblance of happiness in an f-ed up situation and clinging to it.
And to that point, Bond cannot love. His profession doesn't allow it so this sort've sappy, melodramatic love ballad sticks out like a sore thumb. Bond's life will never allow such a thing to exist and at best, if this film does by chance feature a sweeping love story, the 'lover' in this equation will either be gone by next film or killed in some spectacular fashion either on or off screen.
That's just the way it goes.
I smell troll on you.
I said a little while back that this was getting tiresome from my perspective. When we look back on the DC run, we'll have Vesper, and then apparently someone else, within the space of '4' films. It seems a little excessive given what has come before. Nevertheless, if that's the way they want to play it with DC, and if that's how he wants his run to go (I'm sure he had quite a say in this) then so be it. I don't think they should have gone this route personally, because it makes it difficult for the next actor....since DC seems to have monopolized the 'meaningful relationship' angle/card.
I've not seen the video (don't intend to) & am assuming that this 'romance' will not pervade the entire film (at least I hope to god not). This is likely being done to 'sell records' and create hype for the film. As I said before, if it does that job, then it's a job well done.
As long as I don't hear that song again until movie night, I shall remain positive and enthusiastic about this film.
Re Bond James Bond, we shall see. Maybe.
Meantime I have all of Sean's utterances of the line tied for first.
So his voice just bothered me a lot less in the video, also although I'm not a Smith fan, I guess I'm just getting more use to the song which does have a distinct melody. The song should work even better when it is playing over DK's no doubt brilliant opening credits, and those visuals should be what the audience will be focused on, not Smith who will be even more in the background than in the video. I still think it would have sounded better with a strong female voice, but it is what it is.
