He does have a good voice but I just find his sound, and music, uninspiring. As far as his sexuality, that has nothing to do with it; I've always thought George Michael or Freddie Mercury would have been great choices.

Elton John is also one choose a lot of people whant doing a song for years.

A couple of years a go i sugest Elton John should make Bond song You Know Me By Now on Robert Palmer song Know By Now‬‏ for a end credits of Bond movie in bit style of Goldeneye end credits.

With all Daniel Craig Bond movies, the lyrics are more inportent then ever. But a lot of times ignored by audince, inspecialy QOS. Whyle you learn a lot from it. What i also like very much is that some lyrics you heard from You My Name is seen in Skyfall maintitle.

No doubt, Elton could have done a great title song.

Could is the operative word, and that could was decades ago, the guy can't even sing properly anymore and gets more like a caricature every day.

Love the 70's output his peak but after that forget it.

Just hoped decision based more on talent and match then regulated to being limited to Sony signed artists.

I think your idea is completely crazy but I love you for posting it because I adore Robert Palmer. One of the greatest singers of my generation who I had the great fortune to meet on a couple of occasions.
Robert, I will remember you forever - RIP

I agree with many that Sam Smith is an odd choice, if only because of his pitch. However...if EON and Mendes want to go with him, and they have a good song in place, then I'll trust their judgment.

For those who thought we would not be able to do the song because of throat issues.

You can't go wrong with a duet in a Bond film, How about Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.

You know, while listening to their greatest hits cd in the car today, I thought of Duran Duran.

There were rumours (since dismissed) a while back on this thread of a classic act being up for the job.

I think they would be perfect for it. They still put out some great tracks and have mellowed since A View To A Kill. I'd love to see them get the gig. It would get airplay too I think (although probably not up to Sam Smith's standards).
  • According to The Sunday Times "a senior music industry source has claimed director Sam Mendes has already commissioned Sam Smith the theme tune of SP"
  • I hope to god that's not true. Such a dull, safe, spineless choice. I really can't imagine him being appropriate for a Craig era Bond theme. Until it's official I'm still going to be holding out for the Arctic Monkeys or Sia.

While this is predictable, it is good news in a way, because it's early days.

So I'm assuming he can get to work, preferably with assistance from Newman, and give us an integrated title track/score for SP.

EON - I hope you're listening... We unanimously want the score to reference/incorporate the title track please..

After watching the wonderful "Spy" and its title song, I can't help thinking that Ivy Levan would be a fantastic singer too:

Woah, that's actually a fantastic song. It's obvious it's literally meant to be a song for Bond. :P

I think at times Ivy Levan sings with considerable more ease than Adele. She belts it out flawlessly, whereas Adele at times struggled slightly with "Skyfall" (for instance during the 2013 Oscars).

I think Michael Buble would be a good choice for a 'classic' theme song.

He'd be good for a Bond parody, not a Bond theme.

I'm sick of typical Bond songs. I want a main title song that sounds nothing like any Bond song before!

I'm inclined to agree with you, but I can't see them going anywhere other than route one with SP.

    Exactly.

Most of the classic Bond songs do not sound like Bond songs anyway.... NOBODY DOES IT BETTER.... GOLDFINGER.... LIVE AND LET DIE... A VIEW TO A KILL.... they didn't sound like Bond pastiches. Did the lush YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE sound like any Bond song before it? Likewise WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD. Totally left of field.

I have a hunch it will be an act completely out of the proverbial ballpark.

    It's trying way too hard.

I think that's the point - this is a spy movie parody after all.

Michael Buble is one trick pony. The whole big band resurgence trend has passed again, even Buble is doing a different style to try stay current. I am not a fan of his, I don't think he is a good singer, Bond deserves an artist performing the title track not a pop star Madonna proved that.

Norwegian band a-ha just released their new radio promo, "Under the make up". Lars Horntveth, who made the arrangement, said that, lyrics aside, they tried to do something a little bit "Bond-ish". What do you think?
