Well, both are popular aren't they?

Popularity doesn't particularly mean they'd be fitting, Justin Bieber is popular isn't he?

I'm not too crazy about the whole idea but if it materialised... how about Zoé?

He is, but not in a good way.

Yes and no though- he's popular only with those who would NOT be the target audience for a James Bond movie. Taylor Swift, too. Suggesting either of them is laughable. ;)

And hopefully it is NOT Helene Fischer...

OMG, Helene Fischer....lol....now that would be a novelty...
(bawling out: "Atemlos, durch die Nacht....." ...lol...

You give me an idea here that urgently should be put through to Barbara Broccoli:
Why not having different singers doing the same theme song for different language regions.
    Disney's doing this for ages.

Helene Fischer would be perfect for the German-language territories
Taylor Swift can do it for the US/Canada
Aleks Syntek or Juanes for Latin America
Mylène Farmer for the French language territories
all the same song of course in different languages

That's more than awesome, that's really and utterly thrilling and brilliant...
    :-S O:-) =D> :-h :bz :ar!

In the 60's they did exactly that with the title songs.
It was the same song, but with german lyrics sung by a german.

    I warned you:

    :-O @-) ^#(^

I knew, that for the OHMSS German version the "Christmas Tree" was recorded in German version, which can be heard in the movie ("Wovon träumt der Weihnachtsmann im Mai") and which was performed by Katja Ebstein, an absolute well known singer in the 1970's and '80s (even representing Germany in the ESC twice), but I did not knew about the German FRWL version.

Then the fitting Austrian performer would be him, right?

And this would be the Swiss entry:

I have to say I am pretty impressed that it is all done and dusted and we have no idea who it actually is for sure?

Not quite sure why Bardem is getting mentioned in the Spectre theme thread but then again it's two people who can't but help infect threads with their hate of Skyfall.

Seriously I know you have a hard on for your hate of Bond 23 Getafix but does it have to get into every bloody thread and newbie BondJasonBond006 your Craig hate is getting tiresome as well.

Bardem not worthy of an Oscar for No Country for Old Men? Though you think Brosnan is acting brilliantly in TWINE so who knows what you've convinced yourself about the ability of acting, Brozzer could only dream of giving performances like Javier.

a bit touchy ey? Is my praise of Casino Royale also getting tiresome?

But you're right we have to get back to the topic:

I propose: La Roux for the Bond song.

Who is completely relevant yet would hardly be considered for Bond theme? What about Lady Gaga? Could fit the description "So left field you won't believe it". She's also extremely talented and has a odd Bondish essence.

    Listen to this:

Her voice, in the proper environment is kind of Winehouse-ish.

Five years ago I'd say "no way" but I think Lady Gaga has recently proved she can get by purely on talent without any gimmicks. And she is quite talented. Yeah, she could probably do a great Bond theme. A lot better than some of the other ones, anyway.

I'm not a big Gaga fan, but, she has a big voice and if the song was very good, she could possible do well by SP's title song. She would also bring a lot of press interest, and marketing the thing is important. Adele would not have been my first choice for SF either, but she was still a great marketing ticket. I still hear her singing that thing in restaurants.

I'd be in for her. I can't stand her music whatsoever, but she does have a great voice when she really seems to try.

I'm not a Lady Gaga fan but I have to admit she has a great voice. As long as the song was good, she'd do a good job surely.
  • Seinabo Sey would be perfect.

I was not a fan of Gaga until I saw her live three years ago. One of the best concerts I've been to in, yes, over a decade, if not the best.
She is obviously very talented and can sing anything!

She'd be perfect for a Bond song, but I feel she doesn't go well together with the Craig-era.
Lady Gaga is larger than life, over the top and always fun like hell. She'd been perfect for the Brosnan era or a new Bond era which may return to the fun, over the top Bond action.

Improbable, but my favourite. Ladies and gentleman, Ms. Nicole Atkins:

  • Within Temptation that would be awesome! ;)

Whoever it is, it is someone who works with a small team. Probably someone who is also a songwriter/producer. No leaks so far =D>

So apparently BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans said on his morning show that he knows who the artist is and they texted him last night to break the news - an announcement should be imminent?

Well given Cornell was announced end of July for CR, an artist announcement for this in the next week or two is very much realistic...another factor also is that Hunger Games, which is really the only other movie that, in a similar way to Bond, also has a heavily-promoted big artist end credit song release, should also be announcing shortly - they've always announced it end of July/early August.

I somehow can't imagine Tom Yorke being pally with Chris Evans so seems unlikely it's Radiohead then. Sam Smith or Golding then I reckon :(

I don't think it's either. It's going to be left field.

As much as I would like Elton John, but isn't that at least 10 years too late?

The rumours are it's someone you wouldn't expect and isn't there still that suggestion that it's some 'classic' act?

How about the Stones? Or may be they've got Oasis back together.

I think it's going to be someone Mendes and Craig like - so perhaps someone from their youth - an 80s band or something like that?

Paul McCarthy (again)? We know Mendes and Craig is a fan of LALD and he's still relevant.

I sure hope Mendes and Craig have no say in that matter. It's bad enough Craig is allowed to re-do scripts.

In these social media gone havoc times speculation goes out of control really.

In the end it will be ole plain Adele again...
  • Chris Evans pretty much said that it wasn't going to be Radiohead.

McCartney can't really sing any more so don't realisitcally see it being him - you never know though. It's definitely one to consider, especially after his recent success with Kanye and Rihanna.
