The new poster says that the soundtrack, as opposed to Sony Classical or any other Sony brand, will be released by Decca Records (which is a part of Universal Music Group as opposed to Sony).

May this offer us a hint on who's doing it....

Who are some of the candidates with Universal then?

Here's a list of Universal Records artists:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Universal_Records_artists

There's a lot of rubbish in there but also a few interesting names like for example Kaiser Chiefs and The Mars Volta. I wouldn't mind the Chiefs to do a Bond theme myself :) My user name on the old forum was Ruby not just because of the OHMSS reference but also because I love the song.

    Uh oh...
(If you goto wiki and look up the artist then you'll notice like it will say they are with "Republic" but "Republic" is distributed by Universal)...

    1. Ellie Golding
    2. Lorde
    3. U2

Just to name a few artists...
    There's a lot

    Lorde would be good.

I'd settle for U2, Bono and The Edge wrote the best theme of the Brosnan era and Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me was always one the best never Bond themes.

To think a song of that quality was wasted on a godawful Batman film.

I respect you as a human being but no to Bono/U2...the Bond brand has moved on, it needs to be a bit more relevant, no?

Yeah, I think Gaga may be the one singing the theme.

She fits the profile of everything we heard so far, and she's signed onto Decca Records and Universal.

Well apparently they are going for someone who was pretty big in the past two years, only artists who were big pop stars that qualify for bond are Sam smith, goulding and lorde IMO...
Lady Gaga hasn't had any hits in awhile and is kinda irrelevant.

They will go with someone who is popular right now and not someone from the past..

I wouldn't mind Lorde - as long as she actually makes it cinematic enough. She didn't do a great job on the last Hunger Games film...

Actually I wouldn't mind Bond going a bit Gaga. She can really belt out a powerful song as show at the oscars

Lady Gaga has had a few hits in the last few years ie "Applause". Anyways, everyone knows Lady Gaga. She's still popular.

Also, if it was Adele again I don't see why they'd build it up just to tell the public it's going to be the same person.

Like every artist performance, it really helps if the song writer makes an effort. Anyhow, if you missed it, try googling Gaga oscars YouTube

I'm sure it's unlikely but I was just saying it wouldn't bother me, I'm still going for Radiohead although I'm set up for disappointment.

If it needs to be a more recent act then Lady Gaga over bland flavours of the month like Smith & Goulding.

I've never seen the appeal of Gaga but at least she can sing and might be able to pull it off.

The thing is Spectre isn't Skyfall where a haunting ballad worked (at least on the credits) SP needs some grit and a male artist would be better for that, if they go with another female I'm afraid of another nondescript number that doesn't live outside of the credits.

Arctic Monkeys would have been great for this. I'm thinking the theme tune at least for me will be the most disappointing element of the film and I'm ready for that if it is.

I actually haven't been a fan of Lady Gaga until I was seeing her live in 2012 in Zurich.
I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. She is still highly underestimated.
She is a songwriter/singer and actually is very talented at writing.
Her singing capabilities are astonishing which sadly only shows when she's singing live.
Her records are Pop, EDM, Dance which doesn't do her talent justice enough.

Even Julie Andrews had tears in her eyes watching Gaga singing her songs at the Oscars.

And the whole Tony Bennett project is bloody amazing.

I still believe she doesn't match the Craig era. She is over-the-top, larger than life, iconic, colourful, grotesque, bold, extroverted. Everything Bond is not at the moment.

A lot of people would make the case several of those traits do identify with Bond at the moment.

Lady Gaga is one of the few performers I would declare the title song to be an instant success for without even hearing the track.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be all excited if it is Gaga.
Which traits of the ones I listed?

I think that exact contrast is why she'd be amazing.

Swift was a bigger pop star in 2014 and 2015 than Smith, Goulding or Lorde tbh (and she can write rock songs like State of Grace and Haunted). But I am sure everyone still remembers Lady Gaga, so perhaps it is Gaga with a comeback song \m/

All the ones he bolded, I think, people could make a case for being quite Bond at the moment. I agree with @Mansfield.

It would be great if it was Gaga!

EDIT: Wasn't there evidence of Gaga doing a duet with Adele recently too? That'd be good as well.
