Yes I think soft reboot is an appropriate description.
I think Nolan tried to make Batman as realistic as is possible with in the context of the story and the suit being like armour was his way of doing that, it did get ridiculous by the third film but I had no problem with up to that point.
I think he wanted you to believe he could handle what he did and explain it by the suit although I'll take that over Adam West's ridiculous costume. All Batman films going forward are unlikely to be much different to the ones in Burton's and Nolan's films just slightly tweaked to suit the tone of the film.
As I said I'm not going to get precious over it because the comic books have no real relevance to me. It's not like Bond which has been with me for 37 years, comic book movies are far more recent experience in comparison and I only like a small amount of them, it's not a genre that excites me, in fact very little blockbuster cinema gets my juices going anymore although I do hold out hope for The Force Awakens and can't wait for SPECTRE.
I have been telling people this for quite a while. Craig is under no obligation to do another Bond after SP. The only reason he'll do another is if he wants to, and this will likely be based on...
1. How long it takes to get Bond 25 ready to shoot;
2. How he feels and if he feels up to doing another, in respect to other projects he might have*;
3. Who's on board to direct (if Mendes agrees to do B25, then DC woulkd definitely be on board);
4. $$$$
*DC will won't do it if he can't physically do it. Kudos to him...he wants to be as physically involved as possible.
God knows where the series will go. I say that because the Craig era has beeing one long strand of continuity. Bond, M, Q and MP and the actors that play them are very much synonomous with eachother and share great chemistry. To have Bond recast may seem odd. Whoever is cast as Bond, it stands to reason that we finally get a Bond on mission, alone in the field film, without too much interference from the rest. Sort of like Casino Royale and QoS were. Bring Felix back! We need more Wright!
Very soft. Even DAF Connery did not completely ignore the events of OHMSS. Okay, it only really make a vague allusion to it in the PTS, but still.
I still consider DAF a sequel to YOLT and not OHMSS.
plus: Pierce had DAD.
No one better than Martin Campbell to introduce the new fella' when Dan does eventually retire, of course...
Idk I just feel he doesn't want to be another bond ending at 4. It might cause confusion
In what way can they reboot the series now?
Indeed, it's hard to conceive DC breaking away after SP, if the story arc isn't quite complete. This is especially true if Mendes signs on to do Bond 25.
Be good to have Martin Cambell back to conclude everything.
I can't see them slotting another actor in to continue the open ended story line from SP as film goers are going to want to know what happens with Bond and Swan and Blofeld. I think the huge budget for this film is also a major factor. They need to keep the risk side down for gigantic budgets like this one for SP, and casting a new Bond is the single biggest risk EON can take. I would think they'd want to avoid recasting for as long as they logically can and as long as Craig's Bonds are making huge BO. If SP is another huge hit, I'd really be amazed if they recast for B25. But if SP doesn't perform, well all bets are off.
But you bought a new hat?
Mind you this is just a gut feeling and based on recent interviews in spite of Spectre ending on in my opinion the biggest cliffhanger in franchise history the producers have no idea where to go from here I would wager we will get the writers of bond 25 this winter and we will get director announcement this time next year
"NO!" :|
Ehm, I'm lying. A few more remarks:
I want Craig to stay for at least two more films after "SPECTRE". He's the Connery of our days. He brought the franchise back in a "2nd Golden Era of Bond", after those great succesful 1960's.
And even more so. If Tom Cruise can do a fifth ("M:I"-film), and Vin Diesel can do a sixth ("Furious"-film), then for God sake Daniel Craig at least must do a 5th Bond film! :-)
