I don't think anyone has minimized their effort, it's the necessity that is being discussed. Making a different cut for a motorcycle makes no sense. He should look like a guy in a suit on a motorcycle, with the attendant ankles showing and jacket pulling. It's actually less realistic how they have done it.
As far as the "dandy" word, it always provokes all sorts of preciousness, and honestly there hasn't been anything even in the same hemisphere as dandyism in any Bond film that I have ever seen. As I mentioned earlier, I don't know how some of these people are able to dress given how far they have narrowed down what is acceptable, it must be terribly oppressive. When Bond shows up in purple mohair, then I'll be concerned about dandyism!
I hope you realize neither of those statements has anything to do with whether or not a Row house could bang out six suits in two weeks. They absolutely can. Most have workshops full of tailors that divide the labor. If you want anecdotal evidence, I have personally seen many commissions done in sub two weeks.
Good luck with that one doghouse.
If you asked them at A&S, they'd laugh you out of the door. Even if you were James Bond or HRH!
We can hope! I think Craig could pull off a hat quite well. Doubt it happens though.
Well Craig wears hats all the time:

Whether or not his Bond should I guess is the real question.
Exactly the reason I think he could pull it off in the movie. I just have doubts they are gonna go that route.
Work with hipsters, eh? ;)
Too easy :D
Men's hats are cool and all, but they only seem natural in an environment that fits that fashion, aka not 2015, for better or worse.
Craig looked daft just wearing that chaufeur's hat in SF. I don't think he needs a trilby. May be Dalton or Brozzer could have carried it off?
Frankly, it looked a little silly even in the Connery era.
What about Laz's hunting hat in OHMSS?
Nah, generally hats, much as I love them, are not a good idea.
Yeah, the chauffeur hat was just a disguise. I have no problem with that. In fact, I actually liked it.
As for any other fashionable hat, the only reason I would like to see one is so he could toss it on the hat rack. That unfortunately would probably feel too forced.
Lazenby pulls that off with such ease and smoothness. Bravo, really! I'm immediately convinced he does that everyday!
This.
Mon Dieu - when I look at these pictures I can't help but think I've underestimated the scale of this mission!
I love Goldfinger and Thunderball's efforts, and the touching second throw from OHMSS.
Brilliant. Connery was so cool in DN & FRWL - he absolutely had it nailed.
Imho, although SC is by far the coolest, Lazenby's throw is just amazing. Textbook. I wonder how many times they did that to get it so perfect and effortless.
Naturally.
I'm going to pop into Lock this weekend and look at Panamas. This thread got me thinking about it a little.
I just made gifs for the Connery ones too:
