It's Reddit, so take it how you wish, but someone on there has laid out what he's heard from his sources since the Boyle/Hodge news broke. Again, take this with a big grain of salt:

"As I previously reported, Yann Demange has been working with Purvis & Wade on their draft. Demange never signed on and was only working on a speculative basis. Though as I understand, he pretty much thought he had the gig.

Eon were never wed to the Purvis & Wade script. It was just the most likely version of Bond 25 they’d make. They were still playing the field, hence the reason for never officially appointing Demange.

They met with numerous top-flight directors for their take. Chris Nolan was said to have met with Eon and there’s a good chance that whatever they spoke about could become Bond 26.

I’ve heard that other top directors have met with Eon but Danny Boyle was the only one to take the bait. There’s enough interest in his idea to hire John Hodge and move away from the Demange version.

People are falling over themselves as the Boyle news is very very recent. Apparently, Danny has only been working on the Hodge script for a week or so before this news broke.

Apparently, Demange has some seriously hurt feelings and there could be legal implications for Eon. The guy was turning down projects on the basis that he'd be spending next two years on Bond."

Is that the one you lot had mentioned recently? I know someone was discussing someone with "scoops" on Reddit, but I didn't know much about it so didn't read into it too heavily. Anything he's said in the past that panned out, or is it mostly BS? Because the way he describes it, it's the former, but I don't know. Just a random Reddit user to me.

EDIT: Sifted through his posts - seems he's way off base with some stuff, and other stuff was accurate months before it was announced, mainly the director shortlist. He also noted six months ago that Yann had gotten the job, and that seems to be what he echoes here (provided it doesn't go to Boyle, AND provided all of this is correct).

Yes, he's the one. He called Demange/Mackenzie before anyone else (including Deadline). Since then he's been posting information that he's heard (third hand as he suggests). Some of it seems credible (and some seems like b/s), but without sources who's to really know. He could be making it up based on what he reads officially.

If he's right on this post that means EON are far from close to having a script ready.

    Time will tell.

I know it won't happen, but given it's Craig's last film, go with a bit of Fleming and use Revolver of Resignation as a title. Catchy, damn unique, fitting for the end of an era, and still captures the Fleming spirit.

? Where'd you get that from? And it doesn't fit…Bond uses an automatic not a revolver! In fact, IMHO, that's a bloody awful title (no offence meant).

Indeed. Yes. I can remember 2003 being wasted on JINX, then wasted trying to come up with another story-line for Pierce. So 2004 was out of the question, and B21 was announced for November 2005.
As 2004 drew to a close, a change or course was plotted, Pierce was out and it was announced B21 would be delayed again until November 2006 while Eon searched for a new actor.

If a delay does get announced I don't expect Daniel to stay on. I wouldn't be too shocked if iB25 got delayed until the 60th anniversary.

They could make a new tradition of only releasing one Bond film every ten years on the series' anniversary. 2022, 2032, 2042 and on...............

It's from Fleming's Casino Royale. Talk about nitpicking; I think it'd make for a terrific title.

How long does a script usually take to write? If this Hodge just started writing it, is it logically realistic the film could still begin shooting by the end of the year/early 2019?

That's dependent on the fact that he, indeed, has only been writing for a couple of weeks as the Redditor said and not, say, a few months. I'd wager it wouldn't take more than three to four months to hammer out a proper draft/tweak it enough until it's a final, complete draft, but I'm just guessing. If that's all he's working on I'd be surprised if it took much longer than that.

Really? I don't remember that! Still don't like it, especially for a film title…each to their own.

I’m rooting for Craig to stay on for Bond 25. The next Bond can wait one more film. Craig still has an opportunity to go out on a high note, and I’d like to see them go for that. Even if there’s a little delay I’d think he would stay on.

At the end of the day, I couldn't care less what the title is if the film is great.

Though if I had any say, no one-word title that starts with "S."

Wait, isn't he signed up for B25 already? I thought that was in the bag. If not, they may want to seriously reconsider, given his recent appearance. I couldn't give a toss about his 'high' personally. It's more important that this show gets on the road, whether it be 2019 or whenever.

He is, but if Bond 25 happens to get delayed (which at this point seems likely) I can’t picture Craig staying on board unfortunately.

Oh right, I see now. Yes, if it gets too delayed 'Dalton style' then they move on with a new concept. I'm still curious to know who the international distributor is. That is the big one given where Bond films make most of their money.

My dream would be for B25 to be delayed, Craig to back out, and then either Campbell or Nolan to reboot things in 2020, so that the second outing of the next actor would fall in 2022, the 60th anniversary (no actors second outing has ever taken more than two years to be made after the first).

I realise that is highly unlikely, and I am resigned to the fact that Craig is returning, but that's what would be best from my point of view.

Yes, closer to summer is more likely if they are in fact working on a new script as these rumours seem to suggest. It is a curious development.

I had assumed the next thing we'd hear would be by March at the latest, but I suppose this latest information regarding Boyle this month counts. In terms of something concrete, though, I think April-May at the latest before our next confirmation, hopefully even earlier.

Weren't there earlier rumors that pre-production (i.e. constructing of particular sets, further location scouting, etc.) was slated to begin next month?

As I have stated before I would be very surprised if they really had signed him up already given the fact that they are still looking for an investor /distributor.
And yes I would be very surprised if this investor didn't ask himself the question 'why not go with a young fresh and hungry actor who would be willing for much less pay instead of throwing huge piles of money after a guy who looks like hell these days and is on the record of only doing it for the money anyway'.
