I'm sure there was a clip of him on TV after DAD had been released and he was talking about the speculation on a new Bond, and he said something like "this boy's not finished yet!", and he looked cool and dapper and I thought 'yes!!'
Then Dan came down the Thames and I was 'oh jesus, what have they done'.
Then they made the best Bond film for 20 years, so 'y'know.
My excitement for B25 definitely grows since the Boyle „announcement“ ... dunno if I will buy 4 movie tickets in advance like I did with SP though but better buy one first and see :-)
The same applies to Guy Ritchie (who I love), David Leitch, Chad Stahelski, Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan (whom I don't like at all), John Woo and many others in the vein. I don't want a Bond film to be labeled as a "[certain director] film featuring the James Bond character". I want a Bond film to be a Bond film just directed beautifully and conveniently by whoever is the director.
I'm not really sure about that. There are moments in DAD where his age clearly shows. Not many, since he looks still great in it but they are there. Craig's look is beyond salvaging right now in my opinion.
As he should of
Thank you! A bit of common sense at last!
Brosnan just needed to hit the gym a bit more. He looked good and had a strong presence, but you could certainly sense that he hadn't put in the work to stay as fit as he could have.
Compare him in DAD to how he looked a few years later in The Matador, where he slimmed down that little bit more and was closer to his TND physique. If he had done that, then yeah, he could have squeezed in two more.
All a bit hypothetical now though, I suppose.
Craig doesn't have the same issue, he has different ones. He still looks relatively slim and can get back into good shape very quickly based on his history. However, his haircut is awful and is very unsuitable to his look. He looked pretty good in SP though, so I don't think he's beyond salvaging. Plus, he still has plenty of time.
I wouldn't worry about him. I do hope they give him a decent haircut this time. It's amazing how much difference it makes to him.
I disagree. His physique in DAD felt pretty comparable to how he looked in The Matador. Think he would've looked better slimming down a little more, though it's understandable for the latter film, as he's playing a burnt out, ready-to-retire hitman.
Fair enough - but to my eyes, he looked far more slim in the face in The Matador. It didn't help that in DAD he was supposed to have been a prisoner for 18 months. Doesn't feel comparable at all to me.
I agree
Age was never the issue with Brozza.
Craig's problem in B25 won't be his physique, I agree.
The same can be asked concerning action set pieces.
Agreed. His problems were the screenplays and the directors. And BATMAN BEGINS. And he would not have worked in CR under the presumption, that this was Bond getting his 00 status and his first full mission. For this, he was too old. In another Bond movie, why not?
Still has the record as being both the lightest and heaviest Bond, I believe.
How did Batman Begins affect his performance?
I think he is referring to how Batman Begins influenced CR.
I was referring to his age, not his performance. Mike and Babs decided to do a reboot, when they watched BB, and obtained the rights for CR, when Sony took over MGM, which ended his tenure as Bond. Age-wise, a 52-year-old was unthinkable as a novice spy, and he had done 4 Bond movies already. That's what I meant.
He should have done Cast Away.
I can see him shouting "WILSOOOOOOOOON"!!!!!!!!!!
And Mike replying: "What is it?"
So is one supposed to infer that you think the previous best Bond film to CR was AVTAK?
Yes, indeed.
I'm a bit stuck in the middle on him. I know he could do it, but I also worry that he might over-do it. Nolan seems to find it very hard to tell a simple story well. There usually has to be a poorly done gimmick or a structure twist. His last three films have been massive duds as a result, for me. If he was in Inception or Batman Begins mode though, he could pull it off.
Some areas of a script have specific locations. And some leave it open to opotion. In Spectre the story dictated Austria and Greg Wilson scouted out locations. The day of the dead PTS was part of Logans scriot. But Mexico was also political and about Tax breaks and support from the Mexican Government. Had it worked out cheaper they could have doubled up another location as being Mexico which they have done in the past.
1. Always beautifully shot. Gets his location and lighting consistently perfect.
2. Can capture and audience even when it is a very limited situation or location. Due to strong writing and Character creation.
3. Always has excellent light hearted comedic elements within a good mix of dark comedy.
4. Can portray real emotion on screen.
5. His bad guy characters are regularly dark and badly wired psychologically
6. He is not a conformist, he is a rebel, he will have Bond do something unexpected to shock the audience.
7. His musical choices for his films are always memorable.
8. He wouldn't attach himself too Bond unless the idea was too good.
I am excited.
