Didn't Oldman already turn down a Bond role a few films back?
Anyway, here's a great podcast from @JamesBondRadio regarding potential casting for B25:
Some really great suggestions here. I've picked out what I think are the best candidates.
Villain:
Viggo Mortensen
Female Lead:
Yuliya Snigir
Henchman:
Antonio Te Maioha
Also, they mention something we seem to have overlooked - Corbould's "think the Olympics" comment. Could this be hinting at a royal angle for B25? How would we feel about Bond saving the Queen? It's undoubtedly a bold idea, but something tells me it won't work.
He's solid too, I wouldn't mind him as a selection, either. I doubt them looking so similar will be all that jarring or confusing.
Oh hell yes please to both Viggo and Yulyia from me. she was the most (only?) memorable thing from A Good day to Die Hard.
The last dude looks alright.
Regarding Yuliya, she certainly has the looks but I wonder if she can act. A Good Day to Die Hard is the only thing I've seen her in but my memory is a bit vague.
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. :))
Kinky.
Meryl Streep sure couldn't do this :D
Same :D I think all @jake24 's candidates look great for the roles!
Tell me that's not an instant classic Bond girl.
Well she could, I just don't think anyone would want to see it.
@jake24, she's gorgeous, she'd make an incredible addition to the cast, albeit one better saved for the next actor and era, I think.
I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily true, it’s not a phrase that immediately strikes me as being a general characteristic of Bond villains (although there are those that it’s applicable to), which is why it particularly stood out. It’s quite specific. Particularly so because Russia is quite an insular, relatively conservative place and projecting a character as ‘cosmopolitan’ on home turf seems slightly peculiar to me. An Oligarch in London, or Berlin, or HK however....
I’m sure Russia will definitely have some presence, I just wonder whether it’ll be a soundstage/replacement location job. Again, I might be barking up the wrong tree completely.
I do wonder if some elements (particularly action/VFX sequences) will carry over from the Purvis & Wade script. Last time, despite rewrites, they ended up being stuck with the Westminster Bridge sequence as they had already begun constructing the set at Pinewood.
THIS!
If they don't mind the possibility of casting a Scandinavian actor, they could also look towards Mikael Persbrandt. Great actor, who has played a spy himself - Carl Hamilton - a role that Peter Stormare and Stellan Skarsgård have played before him. I think Persbrandt trained with American Special Forces or similar in preparation for that role, as well.
She played in Magic City, a TV series featuring Olga Kurylenko. Worth checking out!
