Ralph Fiennes is touted for a main role in the upcoming Kingsman 3, which is targeting to start production in January 2019.

I'm beginning to think this man won't be in B25.

God lets hope this isn't the case I love Ralph Fiennes as M and he was really developing his persona in SPECTRE why can't he keep his schedule clear I don't understand guess Boyle has no place for M in his idea

Unless he's relinquished to a Bernard Lee role. Here's you mission and now get out.

That's what i'm thinking...maybe Danny Boyle has had enough of the 'Scooby Gang' as well..lets hope so.

If Boyle really did have this idea during the Olympics, would he even have known Ralph would become M?

After the last two films, it would make more sense for M to take for a Bernard Lee role in B25 anyway. And if they're bringing a bit more humour into the films again, it wouldn't be out of character for Bond to make a crack at a desk bound M. After all, he was shot in SF and in a car crash in SP.

Because his history and backstory created by Ian Fleming has him as a 30s male similar to Hoagy Carmichael as stated by Vesper. That's all they have to say in regards to keeping the looks and nationality as close to what was created.

That's right. There's no harm in saying 'James Bond is a literary creation and we like to keep to the description in the books". She could also point out how the series has championed black actors, and wasn't Rosie in LALD the first mainstream black actress to have a love interest with a co-white star? (or something). If that's true, she could always drop that out.
I'd be rubbish at diplomacy. I'd be saying "a black Bond? don't be daft, James Bond's a white man, what are you on about?"

Who is Antoine Fuqua anyway? Sounds like an Austin Powers character.

I will never understand why people think it's time for a black or female 007.

I think the sense with a black actor is that you'd have to make a very strong case now for not casting an actor just because he was black.

If we are saying that if the best actor for the role is black, then he should get the role, and I think that sounds totally right and fair, then what about if the actor is an American or Chinese or a woman or transgender?

At what point do we say we would be turning away from the character of Bond so much that it just isn’t Bond anymore?

Look, the producers have messed up big time but where they won't mess up is when it comes to casting their leading man. Emphasis on man.

Mickey mouse is a mouse. They're not going to replace him with a flamingo and still call him Mickey mouse! James Bond may have black, Brown, blonde...hell, even ginger hair but he's going to be a white MAN. That is the criteria of the role. Let the media go round in circles with all this crap. WE otoh should just ignore it all and focus on what Boyle is doing with our ACTUAL Bond actor right now.

How can a black man be the best actor for the role of a white man?

But are the producers, or whoever is hiring, going to feel like they are restricted like that?

I certainly hope so. Surely they have a duty to at least keep some link to the original character as long as they have '....as Ian Fleming's James Bond' after the actor's name. They can make as many films as they want with all kinds of people playing anyone, but James Bond is a literary character in books now considered classics, and he's a white man of a certain age, and it's not 'racist' to cast someone who fits Fleming's description.

More likely they'll remain empowered by their unique, established character. Continue building him up as they do with Craig, not pull him apart. I agree they're polite in conversation on the subject but that doesn't signal some redirection, just provocative headlines.

Right. I read the article and the CNN treatment of the same reportage.

Didn't he say he won't be cast as villain anymore? He used to only play villains.

Personally I'd rather have a bulkier looking villain for Bond 25. It would make for an interesting change

New Idris Elba as James Bond Rumor Is "All Made Up Stuff"
    https://hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/new-idris-elba-as-james-bond-rumor-is-all-made-up-stuff-1133979

On Aug. 9, the U.K.-tabloid The Daily Star published a story stating that Equalizer franchise director Antoine Fuqua "told an industry pal" that he spoke with James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli about the future of the spy franchise.

Fuqua was said to have mentioned Idris Elba in conversation. "You need a guy with physically strong presence. Idris has that," was how the Star quotes what the Fuqua "pal" said the director had told Broccoli.

But a rep for Fuqua threw cold water on the story. "He never had a conversation with Barbara about the franchise or about any casting. It’s all made up stuff. Not sure how it got started," the rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

A rep for Elba declined comment, but a knowledgeable source says no one from Elba’s team is aware of any overtures.

Is this the first time an actual article from a reputable source has debunked all this nonsense?

Or a nice way to drum up some free publicity for his new film being released in the UK next week.

I knew it was all BS from the first place it seems the tabloids will never let go of the Elba as bond rumors at least James Norton is only betted by the bookies and not actually rumored to be a frontrunner which gives him a chance but right now all that eon is focusing on is getting B25 together

This is why I feel like if Gary Oldman was to be casted in a Bond film, he should be either a section chief or a Jack Wade type role.

Best chance of getting Gary Oldman as the villain is if Nolan directs.

Although Oldman might make a better M these days.

So crazy to me that in 3.5 months we will know the title of Bond 25...

My personal hope is The Hildebrand Rarity and my personal fear is either Smersh or Shatterhand but we shall see
