Agreed, I wish they cast someone else who had chemistry with Craig (too bad because Seydoux is very hot). The bad script didn't help either, but we all know giving the Scooby gang the spotlight was more important than using the screentime to develop the love relationship.
Yes, SP is pretty forgettable, but it seemed as if they were embracing continuity by tying all the films together. It will seem strange to end Craig's run with something standalone, not saying it can't/won't happen, just that it would be jarring. Then again, ever since they made the decision for Quantum to be a direct sequel, they have only created problems for themselves IMO.
With you 100% on this.
I agree 100% , no chemistry
SP is such a long film they easily could have done both. Bad writing and direction.
I think it'll be jarring to you, or super-informed Bond fans who cared about this relationship.
Personally I didn't like them as a couple, the chemistry just wasn't there. Once again, Mendes was tone-deaf and forcing a square-peg into a round hole.
So I think for Bond fans like myself, it won't be jarring at all.
And it won't be jarring for the general audience, coz they will not remember the Bond girl from four years before.
This will be a standalone with no Blofeld or Maddy, and 95% of the viewers won't care.
God I hope you're right.
I think anything like that, that is done for real, would be welcome in any Bond film
Eva Green remains hands down the best Bond girl of the Craig era. I think she works her socks off in CR.
Seydoux was and remains the weak link, not necessarily as a character, but certainly her pouty portrayal was one dimensional in her first half. I actually found her more relaxed and believable once they arrive at Blofeld’s HQ, until the end of the film.

Yep.
She and Olga!
Although I liked Olga and Bérénice Marlohe, Gemma is a fine actress and definitely looks great but must agree a little wasted in QOS.
Seydoux seemed like smart casting at the time but the zero chemistry between her and Craig was a real turn off.
Hopefully we'll get some much more interesting actresses this time round who have chemistry with Craig and of course look great.
Yeah, but then again it's not even a matter of screentime. Forster was able to create likeable protagonists and threatening antagonists in under two hours, Mendes couldn't do it in 2+ hours.
There are mentions of previous Bond girls in the novel sometimes. I'd like to see it in the movies.
I've said it before: there are a lot of things that I really liked about SP, but narratively they sure backed themselves into a hell of a corner. I suspect, as others have said here, that the best answer might just be to selectively forget much of what's come before and simply choose whatever aspects of the continuity are convenient.
So new new? Just the Maori henchmen casting call still ...
Getting closer.
