Sorry guys, can't see it. As much chance of this happening as Elba being Bond #007. Zero.

Reasons to be bummed: no Boyle Bond, potential delay in release, smaller chance of Boyle regulars like composer John Murphy coming onboard

Reasons to be hopeful: an opening for Martin Campbell, sounds like the script is still in good shape, avoiding a director who has bitten off more than he can chew or whose heart just isn’t in it (a la SPECTRE), the return of David Arnold? Dennis Gassner?

Reasons to be terrified: they wouldn’t possibly go back to Sam Mendes...would they? WOULD THEY???

B26 with his spin on the script? Yes. Not B25.

Didn't they go through a relatively long process of trying to get a director for this film already? I'm pretty sure they were trying to get a fit with Craig. I'd assume the replacement will be someone who he's either worked with, or can work with very quickly. They don't have a lot of time to get this going. Either that or they delay and reimagine it, in which case McQ may be interested.

Another reason to be terrified: they go back to Purvis and Wade's script, or just solely stick to them! If anyone needs to go (based on their comments before Spectre, and now with Trump), they probably feel they have run their course with Bond. New writers, please!

MI:F started filming without a finished script .
Now realistically I know It’s highly unlikely. But what if the would give him a 5 or 6 month delay?

    1. Some of you need to STOP with the Martin Campbell nonsense!!!!! Seriously.
    2. No indication that the script has been scrapped.
    3. The fact that DC's name is on the announcement means he is still on board
    4. Finding a director, with a script in place, won't be much of an issue.

Martin campbell deserves his own bond actor and his own film, not some sloppy seconds

Not many directors have made a trilogy, with the third film being the best. So I agree stop with Martin Campbell, and hope for a actual action director, realistically.

Anything is possible but what would be the motivation for either party? It's not like McQ is going to top the MI action sequences in a Bond film, at least not without crazy Tom as the front man. So wouldn't the expectations of the audience and the press be deflated by the finished result? It's highly possible.

Why would EON go running to the director of the last two films from their biggest competitor franchise? It seems like an admission of defeat, especially after they so openly decided on this slightly different route with Mr. Boyle.

No, I think they need to replace Boyle with another arty farty. Someone who can make it seem like they've gone 'like with like', even if it's superficial. Either that or take time off and reimagine the concept.

Excellent director who can save a film. I'm not sure about fit with Craig, but I wouldn't object to Howard. The Dan Brown adaptations are absolutely superb and rather Bond-like in terms of style and locations.

I think in the last month they were surprised & put off by fallout & tried to get Boyle to go that level of action & keep the character piece & he backed out got nervous.

Campbell's great work after CR: tell me. I'll wait. I mean, CR was twelve years ago. So breakdown the brilliant directing career of Martin Campbell, 2006-2018. That'll be entertaining. The woodie that some of you have for this hack is one of the great mysteries on this site.

He is a workman director with Oscar clout really the best of both worlds...

Still hoping the Mcquarrie rumors are true

True, it could be a matter of nerves and not have anything at all to do with "creative differences."

It would be a foolish mistake to try and match Fallout in action terms imho. They should aim for one great action sequence (like the SF PTS) and then for lower key suspenseful sequences, again like what they did with CR/SF.

If this is in fact what happened, then I'm more curious than ever about what Boyle had planned, because I may have liked a more low key suspenseful affair.

I wonder who he had creative differences with. Universal, EON or Craig?

This could be about box office pressure.

I really wish people would stop using this word, especially those who clearly don't actually understand what it means and seem incapable of using it correctly.

Campbell has many good to great films on his resumé that both critics and fans like, so that alone means the insult is inaccurate.

The idea that some 007 fans don't see why they need the TALENT of Martin Campbell at this point is very disheartening. The real problem lies with the producers. They are the ones who green lit the idea that Bond and Blofeld are stepbrothers. I, for one, will NEVER get over that decision and expect them miss the mark again.

Agreed. If Babs reverts to the rejected script by P&W, it will kill my interest in Bond 25 stone dead. Even worse, I fear Babs might hand over Hodges' unfinished script to P&W and order them to hastily finish it before production starts (as they did with Spectre).

Let us hope that Hodges' script is completed and used, or new writers are brought in.

I honestly think they will hire a new director in a week or two and have the new director use hodge's script there is really no reason eon should halt pre-production when they have to meet the 2019 release date
