  • attempts are being made to bring Sam Mendes back.

If you were Barbara Broccoli, how would you try to convince Mendes to return and take over an already troubled movie after the negative experience he had directing Spectre? What can they possibly offer him to convince him to return? I don't think a huge sum of money will be enough this time.

Instead of posting nonsensical pictures, can you man up and elaborate what exactly and why you are disagreeing with?
I've skimmed many, many posts over the past few days. Just a factoid or two:

--On a previous page is said Skyfall had box office $248 million (or 248 million USD, if you prefer). It was $304.4 million (or $304.36 million to be more precise).
I wrote that Skyfall earned $248 million in the US in the first 26 days of its release.

    Apologies.

When did I double post? I apologized to the one poster and I noted how Archivo 007 was the source of something James Bond Radio cited. Also, I am familiar with the little edit icon. I just used it to expand this post.

David Mackenzie would be interesting, I'd love Edgar Wright but he'd probably want a lot more time and I'd have no complaints about Demange. Whether Demange and Mackenzie have an eye for action is an unknown.

When that is done, The Pussy thinks the thing will be indiscernible from previous efforts and will take less than Spectre. Then, and only then, will they find the courage to change the formula, move away from the formula and give the franchise the complete reboot that it so badly needs.
I agree on the indiscernible part. However a change of formula is not at all what´s needed, but a return to living the formula instead of trying to ape it by means of a checklist. I watched Moonraker the other day with a pal, and we both agreed that no matter if you like or hate the silliness, that film is pure class. That´s what Bond needs, regardless of the degree of extravagance.
I quite agree and MR is definitely class.

Probably because there won't be a delay. Not a significant one at least.
That being said, just rewatched Baby Driver and I now hope Wright has the job. Based on that car chase alone... Also, he could put on his journeyman director cap on just for Bond and then do his other projects with his own magic spells.

Haven't watched Baby Driver, but this clip was very enjoyable!

Demange definitely does. It's of the more gritty and visceral type, though.

    I wouldn't trust these idiots.

Deadline Hollywood - a trusted Hollywood trade website - is saying that 4 very talented directors (who are far from workman-like) are under consideration.

Now imagine that with a DBS Superleggera in cote d'azur or something.

I've only seen the trailer, it doesn't convince me he would do the steady action Bond films need.

Have you seen 'Hell or high water'?
Mackenzie can handle action and tell a good Story! I wouldn't mind Demange but would prefer Mackenzie!

Anyone here more worried about cinematography? I know I am. After SPECTRE's pi** colour that's the thing that worries me. A lot.

Cripes, that looked terrible. As soon as the kid broke into his bopping and lip-synching, I was cringing.

I have not been on a MCU community board, but I can't imagine it being worse than what's going on here, even though GOTG3 is also a hot mess. It hasn't garnered the full-scale panic as has occurred on this site. LOL

You're not alone. The one thing that really excited me about Boyle is that his films are usually really vibrant and colorful. However, I have a good feeling that B25 will look pretty good.

That's a character trait. And not the thing I was referring to when I said imagine that with a DBS Superleggera. Only the way the action is shot. Nothing else. Particularly not the bopping and lip-synching.

Here's hoping. But I am worried. IMO, the best part of SF was Deakins work.

Yeah, because thats a fair and equal comparison. Bond with twenty four installments dated back to 1962, and Guardians with 2 installments dating all the way back to 2014.

JBR - "can you turn it around in three months?"
Yes you can. I wrote my last novel in less. And that one was considered heavy literature. How hard is it to write an intelligent and well written script? (Just get Gatiss and Moffat on the phone instead of Purvis and Wade. They'd have fun with some quick dialogue and clever twists. They're probably huge Bond fans as well).

BTW, don't you love JBR? Those guys are great.

I don’t care who steps in as director (if they can even get one). I just want a Daniel Craig Bond film in theaters by November 2019.

I can definitely imagine that, and that would look great! That clip from BD is much better than the half-arsed attempt at a car chase in SP.

The Piss Filter was really annoying. I just can't understand why they would want that.

Would really like to see Gatiss and Moffat write a Bond script at one point. If this is the time, I don't know (they are usually very busy, aren't they?). No doubt they could deliver something very interesting.

Can see a Noyce or Forster type slotting in if they want to salvage a 2019 release date. (I am one of the very few who adore The Saint).

They’d wanna give Forster a crash course in lifestyle porn, however. QoS was very good, but it still lacked the breathing space that made CR great.

Also, one can only imagine the kind of camaraderie Forster and Craig built writing side by side against the clock on that set.

In light of the current situation, Craig and Babs could well be gravitating to a known quantity.

One of my jobs, yeah. Been working on my 6th novel for the last couple of months. Wish they'd ask me. I would do it for free. But then again, wouldn't we all? ;)

I agree I've listened to some of their podcasts and they both come across as just fans but not offering anything more than what I can deduce from coming on here.

I can't believe so many of you put so much stock in their views, they are pretty clueless.

Although I couldn't possibly comment on the particulars. I don't remember them. I know I left because I defended that dubbing films was daft and was attacked for being an intellect elitist of some sort. Can't remember the details on that one either. I guess it doesn't matter. We're all fans, that's all.

Having Bond 25 as a reference on the CV? Yes, please - even for free!
EON really shouldn't have any issue finding a replacement director or writer, though. Whatever restraints EON should give the director/writer of choice, there must be plenty of good candidates who would jump at the chance to direct a Bond film.
