Note (again): ‘new ideas’. Not great ideas, or shit ideas, simply ‘new ideas’.

It better be the best Bond of all time after all this! I'm sure Ed Woodward is running EON as well as Manchester United! Your mission Yann should you choose to accept it..... is to make our action scenes exciting again.

You could say what you want about DAF, MR and TND being the worse in the series whatsoever, but these are some of the more go-to films when people want unapologetically defined Bond that's easy-going, amusing and above all, entertaining.
    They're fun films, very watchable.

They are also something the newer and especially the latest Bond films will never be -- familiar.

Or at least not right away.

If they held that meeting we will hear about it soon enough. No way they can keep it under wraps for long.

I don't see Edgar Wright getting involved in a project like this, especially one which is having development troubles as it is.

So that leaves the other two. Demange might have the energy and determination to bring together a super Bond entry, but does he have the experience/ability? I only ever hear of '71 in relation to his previous work.

The other option, can't even remember the guy's name, has worked with Barbara before, right? He may have the inside track, but I can't see either really ending the Craig era "on a high". Not within the constraints of a 2019 release date.

It seems like the best option is to quit while we're ahead here. I agree with the articles and posters describing SP as a "worthy sendoff", as I think it was to be if Craig didn't come back. They can push back Bond 25 until November 2020, and recast the role in the next year or so. That way Craigs tally remains in the positive, he doesn't go out with a whimper like Brosnan, Moore and Connery (I like DAF, but still), and Bond move on full steam ahead. Everybody wins.

Translated as please Daniel Craig quit so my boy Aidan Turner can become Bond and make all my dreams come true.

Oh @Mendes4Lyfe your posts in this thread get more unsubtle each time.

Q was fine but Eve Moneypenny was a meh idea which ultimately didn't go anywhere or do anything groundbreaking. And the DB5, that's not a new idea. That's fan service.

What @Mendes4Lyfe doesn't understand yet is that Aidan Turned will never appear in a Bond movie.

I could’ve done without all of those, personally, but when @PeterGreenhill made his comment I presume he was referring to the fact, in SF particularly, Mendes delivered a quite unique Bond film. It harbours an artistry and aesthetic we hadn’t seen before - and simultaneously played with expectations. To me it absolutely ‘feels’ like a Bond film, not because of the DB5, or Q, or whatever else (I hate the DB5), but because it has the requisite sense of class and style - combined with an atmosphere and tone not seen in the series before.

I dont mind the DB5 in SF because at least it has a purpose,a reason for being there,in that it gets Bond to Skyfall, blasts loads of mercenaries to oblivion, and gets blown to crap by Silva because he knows how much it means to Bond.

In other films its just a product placement and i hate that.
  • I'm going to make a bold prediction here and hopefully this will be the case on Monday eon will announce that yann demange will take over as director purvis and wade will be brought back to polish hodge's script and the film will still be on schedule and not delayed meaning the start date will still remain dec 3

On a bank holiday Monday in UK? I don't think so.

Wouldn't it be funny if one of the themes of BOND 25 were fake news and announcing Boyle's departure were all part of the plan to create extra buzz when they announce on December 3 that Boyle actually never left? :)) One can dream...

Gosh I seemed to have stirred the pot with my comments about Mendes. Let me elaborate. IMO, the two Mendes movies have a darker mood, they aremore adult movies than many Bond films, I don't include Casino Royale which is a strong Bond movie by any standards. Two strong pre-credit sequences, An excellent Moneypenny, an excellent Q, A Bond who is vulnerable, who isn't superman. A Bond for the modern age. If only Mendes was available for Bond 25...... In addition both were big box office earners for the franchise.

I nearly fell out of my seat laughing at that moment. The dramatic music and look of concern on Bond's face because of the death of his car (!!) is beyond ludicrous. Another reason why I can't stand SF.

Needless to say, I prefer the low-key approach in FYEO when the Lotus explodes.

If SF is as shite as people make out, we’ve become a very odious group of fans. We can single out the instances of wankery until the cows come home, I have indulged in that myself, but it’s a very worthy chapter in the series with an incredible level of craft.
