Oooh, stop getting my hopes up for a Fassbender Bond!
--
I think all of MGM/EON's announcements over the past year and a half have been brief and uninformative. Moreover, they have also been wrong, at least twice (P&W and Boyle/Hodge).
Well, barring maintenance like jake24 suggested, it could be something! It may not be news.. yet.
@peter Whatever kind I need to be to get on that payroll!!! ;)
Oh, right, that makes sense. Thanks @jake24.
Thanks!
If 20th Century Fox has anything to do with the hosting of 007.com (or similar), it can be a maintenance going on, redirecting visitors instead of showing a maintenance message. Could also be a possibility they are doing a complete overhaul on the design; never liked the layout of that site myself.
I'm already struggling to avoid getting my hopes up for a proper YOLT adaptation and you have to go and do this...
It'll be like this until we get some real news! Any rumour, any site update etc. will do this.
Yes you don’t see me at the meetings I’m the one with the big hat and the fake mustache
Of course, Mr. Risico!

EDIT: Sorry, I hadn't noticed that you had just posted this @007Blofeld. Glad we agree.
Exactly.
@bondjames But surely they used "organization" in CR as they did not yet have the rights to SPECTRE. Ditto for Quantum in QOS. It was already SPECTRE in all but name and the new era was meant to have a recurring menace like the SPECTRE of old.
This Shatterhand title kind of shattered (ha, ha!) my idea that Bond 25 will be a complete standalone, Boyle or no Boyle, Hodge or no Hodge. How much can they ignore the events of the previous movie anyway, even ignoring Blofeld altogether?
So it's not the theorethical concept of SPECTRE or even of an evil organization controlling the strings that is the problem for me - rather it is being reminded directly of the disappointing reality of the last film (rather than some imagined vision as before) and all that I dislike about it.
I do wonder if MI: Fallout made EON want to connect back to the earlier films in some way (even if it didn't mean Blofeld or Spectre), and this is what ticked off Boyle.
Bloody hell, it really is a fine article. Their final conclusion being the cherry on top of a well baked cake. And something we've been endlessly advocating.
And people say we're too hard on P & W. Everyone else is tired of them being writers as well! This isn't the first time that they've said enough with them!

Since no new director has been appointed and the beginning of September is fast approaching, what do we think this means? I imagine the list of four names from last week has expanded but surely we can expect an announcement any moment now? The bank holiday weekend in the UK has passed, so someone has clearly got the offer. It's just a matter of whether they accept.
So far, these are the name:
Yann Demange
Jean-Marc Valleé
David Mackenzie
Edgar Wright
I think 2020 becomes more likely with every passing day without news.
If they can't make the 2019 release date, they should just cancel this film, sell the rights and let Nolan take charge. He will probably make another movie before his Bond film, so Chris Nolan's BOND 25 could be released around 2022.
Yes, the announcement was last Monday.
Reports we and others have heard is Boyle left the Thursday before (Aug 23)...
The talent they went to, and their reps, have to read the script(s), and set their plan in motion before going back to EoN.
Deadline reported they have 60 days to fill the position.
My gut says its sometime'ish now'ish and TIFF.
But, this could be wrong and it's more Deadline's timeline (some time in October).
Either way: strap yourselves in-- it will be a bumpy ride (with Fassbender sure to take over the tux from snotty/bratty/bully Craig)
