Well there is still some great Fleming they could adapt. Even scenes or basic plotlines.

Danny Boyle hints reason behind him quitting as Bond director was because he was 'hampered' by being such a 007 fan

It seems like an odd excuse but Boyle seems to be playing the diplomat. Though this interview was conducted days before Boyle exited. But it does hint at his reservation.

Could allude to all sorts of things I suppose, such as Boyle not wanting to kill off Bond.

It's worrying really, as it suggests EON are planning on taking more liberties with the literary character than they have done already. Perhaps they haven't learnt their lessons from SP and brothergate after all.
It's a vague comment and he is being diplomatic as you write. It does suggest however that what is being contemplated would perhaps disappoint fans of the novels or general 'aficionados'. To what end and for what purpose? Box office glory? Shock value? We shall see, if the concept survives. Hopefully it isn't something integral to the character and his behaviour.

    +1

    +2
+3. Beyond idiotic, especially if it's there to tie off some actor's tenure.

Why can't EON, Craig, Boyle and Hodge behave like adults just for a minute, sit down for a talk and smooth out the differences between them and then continue where they left off 2-3 weeks ago? You know, for the fans?
Aren´t you the last person on the planet who should talk about behaving like adults?

Let's mothball the series until we get fresh owners of the franchise who have a clear idea of what they wanted out of a Bond movie.

    Hahaha! :))
We seem to forget that the Nolan discussion is related to Bond 26, not Bond 25. I think we can safely say Nolan won't do Bond 25, and that other candidates, like Demange etc., are more worthy a discussion in this thread(?)

The 'doing it for the fans' arguments is obsolete as fans do not think with a collective mind and tastes differ.
I don't think that applies to what I wrote, since the vast majority of Bond fans would rejoice if EON announced the return of Boyle and Hodge tomorrow. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

What's very interesting is that the picture that's starting to emerge is that on one hand Boyle + Hodge had a "movie gold" idea that EON liked, and on the other hand EON had a shocking idea Boyle disliked. If they end up incorporating both of these ideas into BOND 25, we might end up with a pretty interesting movie.

You're not wrong, at least as far as I'm concerned. I would prefer them to patch things up and get on with it, but I doubt this is possible for whatever reason.

Perhaps the announcement should have read "irreconcilable differences" rather than the more typical "creative differences" ;)

As long as it didn't involve the frankly preposterous idea of Bond dying.

I don´t like the term "wrong", it has such a negative connotation. But I dare say the majority of Bond fans have not the slightest clue that Boyle was involved in any way with the Bond franchise. Let alone public knowledge of who Hodge is at all.

We had no real idea of what Boyle was going to do or whether or not we would appreciate it, so who knows if it would be better for him to come back.

In fact 2/3 of all Bond movies are mediocre playful fun entries. Almost every Roger movie and Pierce movie. Every Bond fan has a favorite actor and a personal poll but let's face the current state of things: you can blame EoN for whatever you want but with the last 2 (GREAT) outings they made 2 billions. They're hardly killing the franchise. I'm not a fan of the Moore/Dalton/Brosnan era but loving the character I always try to watch those movies with different eyes, more accommodating eyes.

That's why I will never understand why so many "fans" are still here like broken records complaining about SP... "SP is a fiasco"; "SP is a mess"; "I hate SP bland cinematography"; "worst 007 ever"; "SP ruined my life" etc etc. Okay, we got it. I probably saw a different movie. Can we please move on? Because this is frankly extremely annoying. Why don't you make a topic about that, where you can all complain together?
Daniel Craig is 4/4 for me. An unusually great time to be a Bond fan, even with 3-4 years between films.

TOTALLY AGREE. Thanks EoN we had the Craig era! Now let's just hope they'll deliver again with 25. Even if a potential delay would be REALLY annoying I remain hopeful.

@matt_u : first of all, welcome to the site.

Everything you have written here is quite true. I am a bigger fan of SF than SP, and that film, too, has been raked over hot coals by members. Of course, everyone is free to hold their opinions of any Bond film. But the #1 complaint about SF is its implausible plot. That's always the biggest head scratcher for me.

So is Craig supposed to film between September and December or does this imply Craig knows the movie will inevitably be delayed?

I cant see that slowing B25 down,as its already scripted and ready to go after the festival bids.

But I thought he would be committed to Bond and not fart-arsing around on other projects.
If you want to be co-producer then you need to be fully focused on the film you are meant to be bloody producing.

Ok can craig squeeze in both filming bond 25 and this film at the same time? This is getting quite worrisome

This film could mean a month or two of filming for Craig. No need to worry.

I'm curious about what look and physique he will adopt for this outing. With filming so close to the next Bond, he will have a busy schedule, and will perhaps have a similar look or body.

I'm surprised he took this on frankly, especially now with B25 needing full focus.

    Interesting times indeed.

Remember how tired he kept saying he was after SP? Seems strange to take on work so close to another Bond when he is 4 years older and with a new child. Very strange.

Has any actor on a Bond film previously starred in another film this close to a prospective filming date? They don't normally, do they?

I was just having a bit of a laugh at the title of this film. For a threatened wrist slasher, I can just see folks having a bit of fun with it in the media.

I don't think his enthusiasm for the role is exactly peaking,do you ?

I can see him playing his last Bond on auto-pilot as he did in SP,meanwhile getting his final massive pay-check for his wife and kid.

FRWL and GF were released 11 months apart, and Connery managed to squeeze in both Woman Of Straw and Marnie in between.

That's true. Roger Moore fit Gold in between LALD & TMWTGG as well.

I wonder what suddenly drew him to this now though? It's not like he's been especially prolific over the past 6 odd years. A detective as well. That's closer to Bond than other parts he could have gone for.

Thomas Crown Affair is also 1999 movie. But my feeling is that movie helps Twine earlier and other way around. Both movies are also Mgm movies.
