As a stand-in for other locations -- no concern there either. Very easy to make Toronto look convincingly like NYC or...well, just about any major city. That does, however, go a bit against the spirit of Bond historically (putting the money on the screen, and authentic travel to exotic places) so I wouldn't bet on it outside of, perhaps, an action sequence that requires some prohibitively expensive scale (if filmed elsewhere).
I'd be more interested to know, personally, what the narrative angle would be if the country's playing itself. I can think of a few...
Back on topic, Cubby never squandered on showing actual, vibrant locations. I hope B25 offers us the same.
Also quite possible.
True. I don't think they'll use a big Canadian city as itself, but let's see.
As an Albertan, I think Banff and Jasper would make fantastic locations, although it's hard to imagine them going for another alpine locale after Spectre. That said, the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel has always oozed Bond to me.
I actually think it would be interesting if B25 featured only one or 2 main locales. I love that DN is set primarily in Jamaica, TB in the Bahamas, YOLT in Japan, OHMSS in Portugal and Switzerland, and so forth.
Some of the later films flip from location to location so fast the film doesn't give the environment a chance to make much of an impression. Rome as seen in SP, doesn't exactly make me want to go there to visit. Whereas I'd love to see Piz Gloria someday, or the James Bond Island from TMWTGG.
What majestic and timeless beauty.
Yes, James Bond should come to Canada, as Fleming had him do-- we have a wonderful and terrifying landscape....
However, I have to reiterate, and I want to be wrong, but no one in the industry is talking JB. At all. And considering, from a production POV, 25 would be the most sought after gig.
There's no hint of EoN landing on our shores. No one is talking about nailing the Bond gig anywhere in Canada...
I still hold out hope that we have a quick scene in Alberta, or Quebec-- an action sequence that is two weeks here and doesn't need a studio space (since most, if not all, will be close to being booked out for March)
Agreed! FYEO, TSWLM...

Is it to late to revert back to the original release date?
You really can't make this stuff up.
Beautiful video.
Any location depends on how it is utilized and shot.
Intriguing.
I couldn't disagree more.
⚫ CR had a terrific 'summer in Europe' feel to it. Furthermore, you also had a lovely jaunt in the Bahamas to add some exoticism to the affair.
⚫ QOS had a terrifically eclectic array of locations. It probablt has the most interesting and diverse selection of locations. All of which are deftly handled.
⚫ SF is a slight let-down. But there is something quite exciting fro native Londoners to see Bond in familiar sights. Though it was disheartening that the second unit only went to China.
⚫ SP had amazing locations. Enough to top QOS and apologise for SF.
All this talk of Canada is great and it's a beautiful location, but is there really any validity in the rumour?
I think it's a little too late to reverse back to the original release date since it's likely fukunaga is completely reworking the script right now with purvis and wade
On my wish list for the next film is a more vibrant color palette. When I look at Craig’s four films, his first two, CR and QoS, strike me as colorful and rich; his second two , combined, strike me as “grey”; this has an effect on how locations, and they were presented, are perceived.
Now I know that examples can be found that somewhat contradict this, but as a whole it fairly representative.
It has occurred to me, that the story direction, and many of the choices made by Sam Mendes are what ‘created the feeling of “grey” ;)
He was secretly trying to make Daniel look less blonde ;) That actually worked a bit in SF, but he had to shave Danny's head while he was asleep.
Seriously now, couldn't agree more. We need more colour in these films. Although to be fair, SF was saved by Deakins in that department.
I definitely agree on all points recently expressed. I too am longing for more colour in the next Bond film (that was one of the things which drew me to these films in the first place - that sense of wonderment at travelling vicariously as a kid to these great locations and experiencing something vibrant, cultural and exotic with Bond), would also like more immersion in one or two specific locations, and would prefer to see less London going forward.
I agree. A month ago I was in London and what a breathtaking city. Even if just used as a location to send Bond off on his mission, show it in it’s best light as the vital, international hub that it is . Enough of the fog and gloom.
I personally love the way Mendes used London in his films. I live in the city and look for any excuse to watch it in film. I actually went to see some of the filming after work as it was around the corner and met Mendes and Gary Powell.
The scenes have an authenticity to them. It felt sincere and honest, which makes the inclusion of Bond in such a setting all the more compelling. I got a real kick out of seeing Bond in the Underground chasing a villain. Also, the cinematography on the Thames and Westminster bridge is absolutely stunning.
Also, Mendes was right to portray the drab and dreary nature of Whitehall. Many have shirked away from it, but I love the slightly bureaucratic and gloomy nature of these scenes. It always plays nicely against Bond’s more lavish and larger than life world.
I liked Spectre's London cinematography more than skyfall especially boat chase in the end.
