I think they'll mostly be looking at landscapes (perhaps winter landscapes depending on when they film). There's are some interesting buildings around too, of course. Don't know if the cities will have too much to offer. Here's a promo film by Western Norway Film Commission:

Watching that only adds to my surprise that the country hasn't featured in a Bond film yet.

Too costly to shoot here, simple as that. Unless the production get support from the incentive scheme, I highly doubt it will happen.

We all seem to want it. But i guess that’s a combination of factors. The Shatterhand angle to end Bonds/Craigs tenure. The longing for the distant exotic. Fukunaga’s heritage and, lets face it, if even just in a subliminal way, his name. Those who have read the novels also know that YOLT is the right thing to adapt well if we’re talking about a post retirement story/ending of an arch.

The talents behind that promo would be good hires, it rocks .

And there’s plenty of original/unused ideas in YOLT to begin with.

Can some of the more informed users please elaborate on the new DoP style. I, for one, am very happy about this choice. Seems like a perfect match for Cary.

Magic 44 is a list that Bond is on. Similar to Smiert Spiniom or dives deeper into the list from Skyfall that was stolen, if they do the continuity factor. Lures him out of retirement to the Far East to save himself and fellow 00's. Encounters Blofeld and Bunt, Garden of Death etc.

Great news! I think things are slowly starting to pick up. Now let’s just hope that our leading man gets into fine physical shape.

Magic 44 might work as a title. (Why 44? I know "4" connotes "death" in China). Although I can see them changing it to Magic 25 as a cheeky reference...

This is a terrific piece of advertising indeed. I really like the song too. Very Bondian, if I may say so. Moby featuring Inyang Bassey (no relation, but quite a coincidental last name).

How about an Aston Martin car chase on those winding, mountainous roads? One could hope.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I took a trip from Munich to Nice some years back by car and drove through some roads like that in one of the Swiss Mountain Passes (I can't remember exactly where it was) and it was a wonderful driving experience.

Those winding roads in the ad remind me of the opening scene from the original The Italian Job, sung to Matt Monro's (FRWL) On Days Like These

We don't do straight roads here, so there's plenty of places to choose from!

Absolutely love this scene. Shame Bond never drove that car – it would have been a great car for Moore Bond!

One of my favourite scenes in a capper flick. Still one of the first songs I play on the car on the first sunny days of the year, with the top down. And the ending of the scene, with the mafia and the bulldozer. Classic.

    Linus Sandgren

    https://britishcinematographer.co.uk/linus-sandgren-fsf-battle-sexes/
Shooting widescreen 2.40:1, Sandgen’s choice of vintage lenses served for more than general aesthetic purposes, extending into support for the emotional storytelling.

“From the outset we created visual rules for the framing: the less the character allowed us into their life, the further away we were; for more intimate scenes, when the characters allowed us inside, we would either zoom in or go hand-held and close with primes. Although we considered and tested 16mm Anamorphic, the advantage of shooting 3-perf 35mm in 2.40:1, is that it allowed us to use a much larger selection of beautiful old spherical zoom lenses for our desired storytelling effect.”

Great news, @Thunderfinger! I do hope Bond25 is in Norway. I've always wanted that. And Japan. Cary lived in Japan for a time; he is aware of its benefits to a Bond film. The cost may be against it. Or the story. I'm happy for it to be just in the PTS. Things are moving along well.

I don't know Sandgren's work but again this looks postive.

Norway might be a PTS location. Special ops exercise in the fjords type thing. Echoes of TLD PTS. Would be nice to see something like that for Craig's final outing.

Oslo is by all accounts a total dump so this must be about dramatic scenery not city locations.

One of my go to, cheer me up films.
Just got the blu ray, so you've put me in the mood to watch it this eve.
    Great opening, great film.
Glad to see we getting some news coming in for Bond 25!

Agree. If they end up using Norway, it will probably be for a PTS – or only a few scenes. Highly doubt Norway will feature any more than that.

I agree. Just a guess, but I think any Canadian or Norwegian involvement will be PTS at most.

I don’t know this Linus guy but what really excites me about him being picked is that now there’s a very likely chance that we’ll get Justin Hurwitz as the composer. His work on FIRST MAN was fantastic and very Barry-esque! Obviously someone (either Cary or the producers) has a thing for LA-LA LAND and FIRST MAN. So I’m very hopeful about Hurwitz.

I was thinking this as well. Hurwitz and Linus have worked together twice now. I think he would do a marvelous job on a Bond score. As mentioned already his versatility shown in both of those scores shows me he is not going to just reproduce tracks from previous films

Also both super-expensive. I could see Canada subbing in for Norway.

Japan is harder to fake, nor should they.

I could see that too. Was there a timeline for the decision made by Norway on which project will receive the Tax Incentive??

Being Norwegian myself I felt a bit underwhelmed watching that actually...

The hard thing is to make an advertisement video about Norwegian nature and not make it look teriffic. Make a trip here and you will know what I mean.

These guys did a reasonably adequate job, nothing more...

It's on my list. The closest I've been is Denmark some years back.

Yes, I suppose locals will always have a clearer perspective compared to outsiders when it comes to these things, but many of those locales looked suitably Bondian to me.
