No Time To Die: Production Diary

  • @talos7 - how would one get that fight club physique Brad Pitt had? More rakish, not so much big muscles and pecs. Is that more cardio and diet rather than weights? (Sorry to derail the thread - is there a workout thread on this forum?)

Step 1) Have Brad Pitt's parents
Step 2) Work hard, eat right
Step 3) Visit an 'anti-aging' clinic
Step 4) Spend an hour a day in makeup and get the lighting just right
Step 5) Fix the rest in post.

It is very likely that the double will drop weight prior to filming.

That might happen too of course. Are there any reasons for the stunt double to bulk up (if he is), then down for a role, you think?

Bulking up causes both an increase in muscle and fat. Cutting, if done correctly, can just target excess fat.

So if one were to bulk up and then drop the respective fat gained in that bulk, they could end up with better muscle definition. It's hard to do as it takes patience and you need to pay huge amounts of attention to your diet/nutrition.

‘Tis is probably his natural, not for a role weight. It’s easier to drop then gain. By not being on a restrictive diet allows him to train heavier and longer.

My point is to not have this conversation become ludicrous by talking about Craig running around half naked or even shirtless; my point is he’s going to want to look good even if in nothing more revealing than Chinos and a polo.

I see; thanks for the info guys! You learn something new every day :-)

@talos7 Yeah, no doubt they'll have Craig in good shape, regardless wether he's shirtless or in a polo. There's no need to be worried about his shape, unless he looks like DAF Connery during production.
  • talos7 wrote: »
Folks, you have no idea what kind of shape Daniel is now in. No, you cannot judge by recent photos where he is completely covered.

My prediction, and will pull up this post when proven correct, Craig will come into this film in phenomenal shape; naysayers will be pleasantly shocked.

    This is a guarantee.

  • Hope the title sequence in bond25 is interesting/ different- like cr and...qos.

    Depending on when this shoots:

    https://deadline.com/2018/12/naomie-harris-black-and-blue-screen-gems-1202517120/

Moneypenny could have quite a smaller role to play in 25.

Nice, it’s set in New Orleans. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to work on it, via the Fire Dept.

It baffles me she hasn't appeared in a Bond film to this day.

Then again, we don't get a glimpse at Bond's flat in Chelsea a lot, either.

May Maxwell, Loelia Ponsonby, Sir James Moloney, Ronnie Valance.

Those supporting characters should make respective appearances in the film series, sometime.

I agree 100%! The only sad thing about the next adventure for me is that with Purvis and Wade onboard, they'll have Bond go rogue in some way or another. Whether he’s fired, suspended or physically or emotionally hurt, they’ll have him go rogue in some way or another.

That's the standard for the Bond films, nowadays. The new formula, so to speak.

But not now. We are already stuffed to the gills with returning supporting characters. Too many with too much screen time. There were a fair number during Roger's years (M, Moneypenny, Q, Gray, Gogol, Jaws), but for the most part they had limited screen time. And I still think Freddy and Gogol could have shown up in half as many films and all would have been fine.
Surely, yes. And personally, I would rather they cast unknowns in the roles so they won't have to shoehorn a lot of screentime for each of the characters because their actors are household names whatsoever. Of course, I wouldn't want them to appear all at once. Just each of them to make a coherent presence of oneself to aid the plot whenever there's the need for it.

I don't think that they remembered her a year later.

My friends can't even remember Vesper after having seen CR multiple times over the years.

The discussion regarding suits is amusing. In this day and age, sadly few people seems to know what a suit actually is. Put on a tweed sports jacket with a tie and people will call that a suit. Put on a navy blazer over business casual attire ( or jeans) and people think that's a suit.

Bond wears well tailored suits. Period. If he happens to be sporting his best Saville Row gray Mohair suit and a situation occurs that propels him into action, he's not going to stop to put on some sneakers or take off his jacket.

I do think there are a few films in which more casual attire should have appeared, though. The caviar factory scene in TWINE for instance could have skipped the suit. Had it been Roger, I picture him wearing something similar to the Kristatos warehouse raid in FYEO or the leather blouson in AVTAK.

    Agreed with all of this.

    Love this line:

"...meaning the entirety of the old gang is back together for one last tilt at stopping Spectre from bloody ruining everything for everyone."

I hope the gang are confined to their offices this time around but that's too much to hope for.

    You mean... otolaryngologist. ;)

It’s true, though. The general movie goer wouldn’t remember Vesper or at least her name, since it’s not exactly uttered a lot in the film except for a few scenes.

The regular audience would just chew on his or her popcorn, live in the moment, leave when it’s done and forget everything. You’d ask them how did they find the film, they’d say it’s great but can’t cite or recite a scene afterwards, unless it’s a very impactful sequence like the Madagascar chase in CR.

    Ocultist? :-P
The point with this was, you can't expect regular movie goers to remember or care for a character, especially if brought up (only by name or screen time) in a movie years later. For this reason, my friends couldn't make out the deal with the interrogation VHS's in SP – not remembering who Vesper was. Same with Mr. White; they couldn't remember the man we saw in SP as the mysterious character whom we last saw in 2008.

With SP – and to a slightly lesser extent Bond 25 (depending on Seydoux' screen time), they were/are putting expectations on the (general) audience to catch up on past events. If the Bond films came out on a more regular basis, then maybe it wouldn't be too much of an issue. SP will be half a decade when Bond 25 comes out.

I hope Bond has a great one line with the villain, in Bond 25.
like in Casino, "that last hand nearly killed me"
or in Quantum, "My friends call me Dominic." (Bond) "I'm sure they do"

I always feel it makes the audience root for Bond even more, and shows he has the upper hand with his intellect rather than just his strength. It sets Bond apart from most other action films
