A little bird is whispering into my ear that 2 time Academy Award nominee Joanna Johnston will be the costume designer of Bond 25.
False alert. Turns out I was wrong.

Please ignore Craig if he still insists on wearing suits 2 sizes too small.

This is why it’s wise to ignore the voices you hear in your head. ;)

His Skyfall and Spectre suits are what I'd give my young niece to dress her Barbie's Ken dolls with.

Is it too much to ask for that Bond be dressed in a stylish, yet timeless, classic manner? I don't want Bond to look like a 50 something wanna be hipster who will look outdated by the time the film comes to Blu-ray.

Now I’ll be the first to admit that I am no expert when it comes to tailoring but can appreciate why some find Craig’s suits, generally, too fitted; on the other hand I find some of Connery’s too loose fitting. Can’t their be something in the middle?
Pierce’s seem to strike a nice balance.

Whishaw casts doubts on his return.

[Whishaw doesn’t expect to continue with the Bond franchise now that Mendes has departed from it, though he has nothing but praise for incoming director Cary Fukunaga: “I’m not even sure if I’ll be in it. I’m assuming that I’m not going to be so it will be a nice surprise if they put me in. I think it’s right he and Daniel need to just figure it out. I’ve done two; I’ve had a good run.” Still, Skyfall will always mark the beginning of a new era in Whishaw’s career. “I was in a film that people actually saw,” he said, good-humoredly. “I mean, [that] lots of people actually saw—and that really changed things.”]

    https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/12/ben-whishaw-profile-mary-poppins-returns

Huh? Why is Whishaw doubting his return? The Bond team is notorious for keeping people onboard film after film, and didn't Fukunaga explicitly say he wants to keep the MI6 team? Apart from Craig, Whishaw is the last one I would expect not to return.

I guess the crux of this whole thing is whether the Whishaw interview was done before or after Baz's with Fukunaga

Here's hoping Graham asks Ben about Bond!

Not too tight, not too loose. Damn fine tailoring.

I don’t mind the slim-fitting style of Skyfall & SP, but QoS definitely looks more elegant. I’ve always wondered how he’s able to do action scenes in those tight suits.

Indeed. It's Craig looking his best as Bond.

I think it's an age thing.

Older man seem to like the tailoring of the Brioni days. Personally, I love the skinny fit suits. I was very much in my Topman phase when Skyfall and Spectre came out. I love the skinny suit look and think the tight suits looks great on Craig. I understand that they sartorially are considered to be 'bad tailoring' but he looks damn cool.

It's not an age thing. it's a body type thing. This slim look works on a taller man in my view and makes them look more elegant. On a shorter, more bulky man (in comparison to height) it looks rather ridiculous.

Anyway, Bond should be finely tailored with a hint of contemporary fashion. If Craig wants his legacy not to be dated in time, he should keep that in mind for B25.

I much prefer the sunglasses in CR and SP., but then I’m not a fan of aviators in general, particularly mirrored.

No sources so I’ll take this with a brick of salt.

That would be most interesting. Mainly as CJF usually works exclusively with Jenny Eagan. I presumed she'd be a show-in for the role.

Jenny Eagan is an interesting choice. She has some familiarity with Daniel Craig as well, as she was part of the costume department from "Cowboys & Aliens"
  • Whether we like it or not, the "tighter" suit look is in still in vogue... That's what is displayed in men's fashion adverts here in the States, three years on from SP.

My wife, for one, loved Craig in his tight suits.

As I recall the designer said they were created specifically for action.

Tighter suits makes him look more short imho,
It would look great for someone like Cavill was in " The man from uncle"

They make him look like he has no idea what he's doing. In retrospect, I think there is an 'age' thing to this as well. This look 'suits' a younger and slimmer man more than an older and bulkier one. It's 'full on' exaggerated fashion as opposed to finely tailored. Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne or countless younger actors for instance can pull this look off, but Craig can't imho. Cavill is younger, all muscle and he's got the height too so it can work with him, but even in his case I think he'd look better with more conservative tailoring.

I felt the slimmer suits in SF and SP were an attempt to play to DC's physique, his strengths -- in the sense that he even when he's in "jacked' mode for shooting, he's still a fairly lean man. Not an ounce of fat on him. I'd taken those tailoring as an attempt emphasize that quick, light, lean, panther-like quality without sacrificing the "but when he hits you, man, you're going to feel it" element.

    I might be overthinking it.

And I agree, the QoS cuts were optimal for his Bond. So many wonderful elements in that film -- costuming, score, production design -- that are utterly lost behind off-putting editing and the relative lack of a script. But let's not turn this thread into that discussion. :)

Earlier in the decade, he went through a stage where everything he wore was tight. This was reflected in the suits in SF and SP. I think he is past that, now, if his personal wardrobe choices are any indication. Age has caught up to him. I don't expect him to be in the same kind of shape he'd been in before. He won't be "out of shape," but anyone expecting the same physique, at age 51, with a young child, is kidding himself or herself. And I don't think DC himself expects it, either.

Tailoring aside, Craig will be in top shape, equal to his previous films . Take this to the bank.
