All of this is very possible, and good for them for keeping cards close to their chest.Theyve let us know what they want us to know (looks like M, MP and Q are back (although I have a feeling Whishaw is still in negotiations hence his saying nothing on the Noron show, and it not being asked), Mandy, and of course DC).
We have second unit and stunt men arriving in London.
To me, this is all very exciting. A film is coming together...
I'm hoping for a smaller budget film this time around. To me, the budget of SP didn't show on screen.
I agree. Make it a worthy finale for Craig!
+1.
A film with the scale of SF would be perfect. I don't see them producing a "smaller" Bond than any of the previous four DC movies. It's hist last mission and I expect a good amount of globetrotting in beautiful locations with great action set pieces. Given the fact that M-I: Fallout recently set the bar really high and EoN/MGM/Universal all want a worldwide hit the action must be top notch.
BOTH Skyfall and Spectre made more money than any Mission Impossible film.
Agreed
As a matter of facts, THEY DID. We're speaking just about the action here.
The direction of the action set pieces in Fallout was superb. I didn't like the movie but the action was amazing.
I'll tell you more. They're not going to top them, because we don't have Cruise and his crazy commitment to action set pieces.
So Mission Impossible 6 AND Mission Impossible 4 set the bar high. Point is, MI is eating Bonds lunch right now. They can either concede the crown and focus more on story, or bring their A game. The ball is in EON's court.
To me Bond is head and shoulders above MI:6. And I look forward to both.
That being said, it should never be relentless in a Bond film. Focus on three, high quality action bits, well spaced out and the rest should be story and atmosphere.
True. But MI4 had one insane action set piece. MI6 had at least 3.
Personally, I'm 100% sure they will focus a lot on the story and characters this time but they will also try to give us something special from the action standpoint. Focusing on story doesn't mean having a super smaller scale picture.
Would love to see something like that – as long as they don't do a lot of bad CGI.
I feel this is probably the case - and it's no bad thing. SP was a little overly lavish as it was evident that film was basking in the success of SF.
But SF had very few leaks as the production was very studio-based. Apparently, Mendes was told very early on that the film would be studio-based and have a minimum amount of location shooting. Supposedly, Eon were telling him not to worry as they could easily make London and Pinewood look like anywhere in the world. However, Mendes wisely decided to incorporate London into the story - instead of having it pose as Tokyo or Seoul for 90 minutes.
In other news, I suspect that Mark Tildesley is off the film and Dennis Gassner is back. Gassner has been posting on Instagram a lot in the new year with some interesting looking shots:
Purely speculation though. However, I have been looking around Instagram and Gregg Wilson's wife recently started following Gassner. I won't post her profile here as it's mostly family stuff and I don't think it's too respectful. Though it may suggest Gassner is back.
I don't think a smaller budget is a bad thing either. It's more how they use it. Then again, the lack of rumours or news might just be EON doing their best not to reveal too much.
Interesting point re. Gassner and his Instagram. Does he usually share images from location scouting, etc.?
...and don't get me wrong, Gassner and Temine are great at their jobs, but their return indicates that Bond 25 will completely controlled by the producers with very little input from the great Cary Fukunaga.
But don't worry @PanchitoPistoles at least the great Christopher Nolan won't suffer these fools for Bond 26
Also, remind me to get you your first beer when you turn 18
Or Barbara Broccoli will be wrong either way.
Yea the latter crew appeals more to me.
