I don't think there is much that they could come up with that in some way won't be compared to something in a previous outing. now that doesn't mean that a great, original, premise can't be done, but no matter what it is there will be aspects, beyond what is established Bond canon, of it that will be called similar, or a rip off, of a previous film.

This. It's inevitable, I just hope that they manage to sincerely dial back on any homages/"rip-offs" and keep this next one as exciting and original as possible.

I think this video with Jamie Bell, clean shaven with neat hair, I could see a potential Bond.

    He's a midget.

I have a feeling Craig will convince Soderbergh to do the next one if he decides to come back.

I'd much rather have her leave Bond than to die.

Absolutely! Give her the Tiffany treatment.

    Erm... this treatment?

I bet Michael G Wilson is more of a force these days than Barbara Broccoli is... in 2016?

No, he's not. She runs EON.

At his age, I wonder if Michael is keen on spending another 3 years of his life producing another Bond film? I know Cubby was still going strong at his age, but Wilson's condition seems to be deteriorating (he had to have a triple bypass surgery last year). Not sure if he'd want to start it all again with a new actor, either.

On Sam Mendes' intervention - this is what people on this forum have been saying for a while anyway so nothing new there really.

So who is going to be the next James Bond after Bond 25 & 26?

Walt Disney. They'll put his severed head on a new, more muscular body, de-age him, then reanimate him and put him in a tuxedo. Simple as that, really.

They'll just unfreeze him. He's still young enough.

Angelina Jolie in Bond 27 confirmed! You heard it here, folks.

And the finale of the film will see Walt Bond facing a bunch of animated foes in combat, à la Roger Rabbit. And Mickey Mouse will appear in the opening title sequence, obviously.

With Bananas as their weapons of choice? Looks like the Ramirez brothers didn't go out of business, after all. ;)

EoN hasn't ..doesn't mean they wouldn't ever. An American director can do fine with Bond. Prefer the actor to be British but the right director doesn't matter.

Why can't he pick up Craig's "mission"? It's still the same character, so it's possible.
If it's a new actor, I feel as if they're better off abandoning SPECTRE and Blofeld for the time being and starting off with a standalone story.

Why. S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and Blofeld have just been introduced.... Why getting rid of it so soon again? Only because...of a new actor? Bond is bigger than any actor who plays Bond.
There's a heavy level of continuity in the Craig era. Waltz's rendition of Blofeld has a very significant relationship with Craig's Bond, a character they have been establishing for 4 films. It just wouldn't seem natural to introduce a new actor to continue the penultimate story of Craig's arc. EoN have said on numerous occasions that they do not like to plan ahead. They chose to re-introduce SPECTRE and Blofeld at this late a stage, and now they have to face the consequences if DC decides not to return. That's why its better to hold off the re-appearance of the organization and its leader for a future film.

Don't know. I think writing can do wonders. And one can easily reduce the amount of continuity. Or, at least, keep some continuity in place by letting a new actor be part of the same continuity that started with "Casino Royale". Just lower down the amount of continuity be only making some short references to Craig's era of films. Very much like they did in TSWLM and FYEO (shortly referencing Tracy).

Also, I think this would be much fresher and different from, let's say, Marvel and DC Comics. There used to be a time in Bond history when continuity. I'm quite against another full reboot to be honest. DC Comics is doing that. Let Bond do it a bit differently.

I agree that it's really all about the writing. Almost any scenario can be 'bought' if properly written, acted and directed. Getting it right is the tricky part.

He should retire then. Babe has pretty much run the entire franchise since CR. Im sure he can produce the films on her own like her dad or have Michaels son take his spot.

I believe the son is getting more involved.

With SP it almost seemed like Mendes was sitting in for Wilson, at least at the press conference (I realize that Wilson was ill). He had quite a bit of involvement and control on this last film it seemed....more so than other directors.

The producers pretty much gave Mendes the world for Spectre. They did everything to get him back

I'm just glad and more excited about who the new director is more than I am who the next Bond actor will be. Can't wait for more news and details.

I agree with this. The director is what I'm excited about. That and the writer(s).

Me too. BUT I'm holding my breath on the writers. Until I hear that Logan is not involved and that P&W are now cleaning toilets in Ireland I won't rest.

I never want the hear the names Logan and P&W even spoken in the same sentence as Bond.

P&W were interviewed, but didn't have quite the right qualifications. "Sorry boys, there's been a mix up - we'd heard you'd been dealing in sh1t for a number of years now..."

Well, lesson learned. They won't be pulling such an act for the next one.

Given the script problems they probably should have given Mendes and Craig full rein to make the Bond film they wanted. I can't imagine Mendes being much pleased with the script he had to work from.

I am sorry are we still blaming the scriptwriters?- Blame Mendes he had a bloody carte Blanche after SF and he and his responsibility cocked it up royally in my humble opinion.
