I knew they couldn't just leave Blofeld in prison. He was the author of Bond's pain since the start.

Plus, EON wouldn't get the rights back, and then not use him for another film.

    Waltz returning makes sense.

And look I will sleep I mean talk with both Emma Stone and Dakota Johnson and figure out this whole thing... the things I do for Mi6 community.

Like I said the film is gonna be interesting

According to JamesBondDownunder there is another local article that reports that Christoph Waltz will return as blofeld, Anybody know where that article is?

Just to clarify things, the first italian newspaper that mentioned Matera as a "highly likely" filming location was the most important one in Italy (so not a local one) and in that article they also spoke about a Waltz return alongside Whishaw. Here's the link: https://corrieredelmezzogiorno.corriere.it/bari/spettacoli/19_febbraio_02/a-matera-avventure-james-bond-sara-sassi-set-nuovo-007-29e7d088-26de-11e9-83bc-98673c529150.shtml

The local newspaper that reported further details about Matera - like April 7 as the start of filming and the exact places part of the deal - came out with the scoop 5 hours after the other one posted above. In the same article they spoke about Stone and Johnson as "potential" Bond girls, but nothing about Waltz.

EDIT: I wouldn't trust those rumors about the casting choices. Sounds just like speculation, while Matera as a location seems more credible, since they report a lot of details.

I think one thing people seem to be ignoring is the fact that these are coming from "local sources" of places that have apparently been scouted, but surely the location scouts won't know whose been cast, let alone the residents of the places they're visiting?

And I feel like if there was any truth in this, more articles would be picking it up, like Variety. Remember when Monica Belluci and Christoph Waltz were rumoured. Nearly everyone picked up on it and created article upon article.

Some positive signs in the past 72 hours or so. Great locations, stunning Bond girls, and now Waltz rumoured to be back as Blofeld?

It may be worth raising my expectations out of the duldrums, if only we could get confirmation of Shatterhand as the title, we could really start the celebrations early. <:-P

No the residents know all they have people everywhere (looking @peter) Am I right?

Blofeld is such a non-entity in Spectre and he’s the main villain.

If Spectre return for Bond 25 along with Blofeld, I want to see A LOT more of them.

Not that we will ever get a straight answer out of him, but Christoph Waltz will be a guest on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, 4 February on NBC at 11:35/10:35c.

The above article seems to be quoting Fukunaga's interview with the Philippine Inquirer from November, where he toyed with bringing back Waltz and Whishaw if there was space for them in the story.

This is your daily reminder that the character called "Blofeld" will never appear in a Bond film again, and he most definitely won't appear in Bond 25. Why? because Cary Fukunaga isn't stupid.

This. That's why all the casting hints that are coming from those italian newspapers are 99,9% just mere speculation based on previous reports. Can't say the same about the location scoop that sounds more likely.

  • Please eon, don’t make bond 25 heavily dependent on spectre.... spectre is so bad. Why can’t you just ignore it, like after qos.

Because after QoS there was still room to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. This is the last movie now. They have to use what they have.

Look I am not the biggest fan of Spectre by a long shot but to ignore it especially since even Quantum got referenced heavily in Spectre... sorry I am somewhat of a continuity geek..

Spectre finished the storyline that started with CR. The only connection between Spectre and Bond 25 will be Madeleine.

I don't think they need to start completely afresh, but can still don't have to bring Waltz back. They could easily bring SPECTRE into the equation with a different villain.

I strongly disagree. If the craig continuity had been successful I might feel differently. However, it was not successful, and I don’t see any reason for bond to adhere to continuity any more than previously. Doing so severely limits the creative potential of bond 25, and my expectations will correspondingly drop to the gutter if waltz returns. Spectre is bottom 5, and it makes absoltely no sense to continue from it in the next film. It’s like making a direct sequel of DAD or AVTAK.

I would have no issue with her doing it, she can sing.

I'm all for that, just go watch her cover of 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)' :)

Although, we probably won't get an announcement on the title song till the end of the year.

I have absolutely no interest in seeing Italy as Italy again. If it is to stand in for another location then I'm ok with it, as long as it's not obvious to anyone without a trained eye.

I hope for some new and interesting spots in the upcoming film. For now, Norway is the most interesting to me and I look forward to seeing what they come up with there.

Judi Dench is a pretty big name too.

She was doing lame Sunday night sitcoms on the BBC when she got the Bond gig. A big step up for her. Of course she'd done lots of highly respected stage work as well but that's not quite the same as becoming a widely known name in film.

@marketto007 I need this after A Star Is Born. She'd be perfect!

I've now talked myself into believing that both Emma Stone and Dakota on will be in the film. I will be particularly irritated if this is false...Johnson would make a terrific femme fatale. Also according to a fan sit, she teased doing a huge movie soon that was v secretive.

I've only seen Johnson in Bad Times at the El Royale. I had a negative impression of her prior to that due to her association with Fifty Shades (which I've not seen), but after I saw El Royale I instantly became a fan. She's got something and reminds me of both her parents as well as her grandmother.

You haven't seen A Bigger Splash?

    Shocking.

Up market, middle brow tosh. And highly entertaining.
