Bond 25 needs to do its own thing, Bond is much more than its action sequences. Remove the nut job psychotic Scientologists desire to nearly kill himself trying to top each subsequent stunt from those films and what have you got?
Bond has always been more than that and Craig's Bond is far more complex and interesting than the holier than thou Ethan Hunt could ever be.
I won't be surprised if he has skipped the carpet. Weisz has already walked it and doesn't seem to be with Craig. He probably wants to keep the focus on her and have everyone asking about James Bond.
+1. Very well said!
Still pretty entertaining action adventures that aim to be escapist fantasy and achieve that pretty well, imo.
Yeah, Bond is certainly more complex than Hunt. Hunt is like Mad Max, a vessel through which the action unfolds. I don't think anyone has ever wanted Bond to be like Hunt; many just want a Bond film to leave you excited and thrilled walking out the door of the cinema and looking forward to what's coming next.
People can hold Cruise's audacity in the stunt department against him all they want. But once you take your personal dislike of him out of the equation, the fact is.....it works.
Nevertheless, I still don't think M:I-6 is going to be any sort of aesthetic influence on Bond 25.
Saying that, it's a good job Bond is more than its action sequences because if it wasn't, the last ten years would have been very underwhelming indeed.
I still don't think it's wrong to expect impressive action or stunts from a Bond movie.
Considering the series' history with creative and exciting stuntwork, you'd be right. There's no excuse for uninspired action, especially considering the massive budget of the last entry.
The young industrial magnate who took over SPECTRE from Blofeld and made it rise again, with more focus on being an actual terror unit and being more lethal.
The premise of Nobody Lives Forever is that Rahani has placed a price on Bonds head, and he his being chased around Europe by SPECTRE and other baddies.
Of course I don't find this to be a likely scenario for the obvious reasons, but the thought is quite tantalising. Especially with a plot where Bond is being chased and not the other way around!
Actually that’s a pretty excellent proposal. It would fit with the idea of Bond being retired with Mads. Plus, if SP was about Bond choosing life, B25 would be about Bond being cursed with is “life” as an agent even if he doesn’t want to. Nice!
Would rarely advocate anything from Gardner's Bond novels but this concept actually works pretty well.
:-D
Woohoo! I really hope he is our next villain :D
Interesting retirement plan.
XD. Mads is back, we must deal with it. Who knows how she will be used, but Bond being chased would be a good concept to kickstart the movie. This way, also Mads would understand that she doesn’t have any choice in the end.
With all the strange continuity stuff in SP, why not bring Le Chiffre back, or his just as evil twin brother, out for revenge? :))
He's used a bit heavy makeup lately, but calling Mads a she is a bit much, isn't it? :-D
To be serious, having Bond chased (at least at one point in the film) wouldn't be the worst idea. Haven't read the Gardner novels, so I don't know how many elements can be borrowed from them. As an example, it would make sense for Madeleine to reconsider her future with Bond should she be in danger being with him.
He looks a bit like Johnny Depp/Jack White. So...he's in London. So prep just be majorly underway and filming hopefully around the corner.
Also, rather suspiciously, Rami Malek gave an interview where he spoke f moving to London soon...
How exciting :) that look to the camera after he said it as well haha
It is one of Gardner's better plots, and if I recall correctly, it is all set in Europe, as Bond should be.
Would probably have to replace May with Madeleine, to have some possible emotional connection. Moneypenny could still be kidnapped though. May should be introduced for Bond 7.
Me too. They could film the Union trilogy back to back to back, and release it on a yearly basis.
