From what I know, Lamont retired.

I fully support Hemming's return, however.

Yes. Agreed. Bond sucks. EoN Sucks. That's why I will stick around here a little longer to tell everyone why we shouldn't get excited for a new Bond film. PM me. Lets commiserate.

The box office tells us something different, not to mention the crazed ovation DC received on Colbert when he announced his return. SP was a flawed, for sure, but as a whole, the DC era has been very. very, very good for the franchise.

You're right. I think if EoN had carried on, business as usual, the series would have suffered. I think there'll be a desire to return to the classic tropes once the Craig era has finished.

The public couldn't care less about Bond formula.

Yes the only confirmed statement from Boyle himself was he was more influenced by book bond rather than a Cinematic bond .

That makes me sad. Literary Bond "a la" the one in Dr. No would be awesome. Tight setting, few characters, a bit of noir suspense and minimum action.

Then again, we live in era of superhero/MI/Kingsman grand action so...

The past has shown that like for literary Bond doesn´t mean an understanding congruent with the majority of the audience.
When? There is a great misunderstanding of what literary Bond is. I’ll guess and say Dalton, but his performance wasn’t the character either, it was way more intense and humorless than literary Bond. It was Dalton’s take on literary Bond tailored for him; it’s closer to the character than what Moore became in terms of smirky or silly, but people inaccurately think of Dalton as the definitive literary character. Plus Craig is very close to Dalton if not more so in seriousness vein.

That’s why it’s curious to know what Boyle wanted... of course he may have just said it as slight of EON without meaning and it was really all about autonmy.

Wasn´t it said About Mendes too that he was a big fan of Fleming´s novels? Or was that just a construction based on bits he might have said?
    Never heard this.

I’ve never understood the complaint that Craig’s Bond films “don’t feel like Bond films.” Yes, they’re a little less standalone, more personal, and a little darker, but they still have all the classic Bond tropes and ideas all over the place.

I don't think they will go back to the old stand alone films in the near future.

We should expect a reboot IMO.

That is what the super hero films have shown is possible. If you run out of steam just reboot.

They're not going to cast a middle aged actor who just takes over where Craig left off.

Esp if Craig Bond is dead!

It's because the ideas are developed and there's those nasty "theme" things and actual filmmaking with visual storytelling. Yuck.

The last film that really truly felt like a Bond film to me was TLD.

Funnily enough the film that's come closest for me personally since then is QOS. That's mainly because I appreciate it's more pacy approach which reminds me of the earlier not overlong films. Plus it's perhaps Craig's best performance. The movie is totally focused on him. He carries the movie but this just adds to his kudos and presence on screen.

LTK was a turning point I think. All the "This time it's personal" stuff that over time has just become the new normal. When is it ever not personal these days?

I cannot really take the Brosnan era seriously on any level although for my money TND is the 'best'.

Craig brought some gravitas and heft back to the character but the films still just feel a bit like pastiche to me. Like they're "making a Bond movie" rather than just making a Bond movie.

I guess it's Cubby's absence that makes the difference.

So I've been listening to the audio-commentary for Casino Royale, with Barbara, Michael and the rest of the main crew, and I would really love to see Peter Lamont and Lindy Hemming return for Bond 25.

They both did marvellous work on that film in particular and hearing them talk about the process is fascinating.

I wouldn’t mind if Lindy Hemming returns. If she did B25, I wonder if we’d still have Tom Ford or revert back to Brioni. I like Tom Ford’s QoS fit better than Brioni’s baggy suits and Ford’s too tight SF/SP suits.

I don’t think he did that I remember. It wasn’t evident in his movies either.
That it wasn´t evident in his movies was exactly my Point.

„Forever And A Day“ would be a great title for B25 and supposedly Craig‘s last. Dunno if EoN would have the rights to use it though (?).

  • I kinda like the one-word titles. They are simple and effective.

Skyfall was a little flat at first sight - it always felt a bit like a video game time. However it suits that film perfectly. Within the context of the story, it works as it harkens back to Bond's past and has a deeper resonance to his family roots and M''s role in his life. I always felt it was a shame they called Goldeneye that - as Skyfall deserved that title more.

Spectre is a straight-up cool word. It's a cool title that is evocative of something evil and mysterious returning. Which suits the series at that time and the actual story of the film. Arguably, my favourite title.

Shatterhand is dumb though. I hope they don't use that. There was some talk that Bond 24 would be called either Silhouette or Mosaic. Both titles I like.

Though it baffles me that they haven't used The Property of A Lady yet....

Personally, I think Once Upon A Spy is a good title. It reminds me of No Country for Old Men. It suggests an older Bond returning for a final mission. Which is fitting considering the end of Spectre.

The next two weeks will be very hectic and rush for us. Looking for leaked news, rumors and waiting for some official news.

As in previous years the press conference was on thursday before they start shooting the film, so I say that the "BOND 25 Press Conference" will be thursday February 28th.

It may be helpful if some users on here tweeted Baz on Twitter. I did last night hoping for a story to drop either today or tomorrow. I guess time will tell.
  • For whatever reason, Bond loses Madeline, would you feel it befitting for Bond to call Camille in the next movie as they follow up on the theme of The Dead Don't Care About Vengeance?

It could be a small or large part she could play but she'd actually have feedback and words of reason to share with him, as some fans including Babs herself, have welcomed thw idea of Camille returning. Some fans wonder if she's doing well after the intense events of QoS.

No sense in it...plus, Baz drops stories between 11pm-12am on Thursday's. So don't expect anything any other time. i think it's mainly as his column in the Mail is published in the Friday edition. So he get's the jump on the paper by putting the story on Twitter as soon as he can - which is just before midnight.

@Risico007 haven't you already suggested that insiders have hinted that Eon have scheduled something for Friday 1st March? i recall reading that a few pages back.

I don't think it's a good idea to bombard Baz Bamigboye on Twitter in the hope of getting a scoop. It's very rude, and unprofessional, I'm sure the site admin would not want anyone doing such things to mention their membership to MI6 Community if they tweet someone for an inside story or news.
If, there is to be any news from Mr.Bamigboye today or tomorrow or next week, I'm sure he'll tweet it whenever it happens.

True. He'd be absolutely gagging to break the news anyway. It's not like he'd think, 'nah, I'm writing that story about the Bucks Fizz reunion instead.'

I did but haven't spoken to them since January 3rd so obviously plans can change.

I would presume it will be around March 4th

The audience on a tv show is told how to behave. They are directed with signals and signs.

interesting and if this is accurate it says the Italy shooting begins in April... which would make sense as the pinewood stuff would likely start in march. then production would move forward

I agree. If true I am glad they are using the unique UNESCO heritage site. It's a very bondian location. Will harken back to Dr.No, You Only Live Twice and Live and Let Die.

I think so too. The production team for Casino Royale did the same. They started shooting at Pinewood a month before they went on location.

    Nope. This is wrong.

CR began shooting 30 Jan 2006 at Barrandov Studios. They didn't begin filming at Pinewood till June 2006. After filming in Prague, the Bahamas and Venice.
