If they filmed 10 in 2017 (with the other 10 to be filmed in 2018), that'd be three, maybe four months?
I can't see the producers waiting until mid 2017 to know whether he's coming back or not, because that likely will preclude other actor casting options, given how easily schedules are being filled up these days (with Disney in particular grabbing everyone who's worth his salt, and Warner grabbing the rest).
My point is EON will likely want to know by the end of 2016 who its actor for B25 is, imho.
Secretly they will. EON is very sneaky, don't forget.
I doubt B and MG are quite like Cubby but it's not so great to have the current Bond actor appear in a major tv show. It's preferable to have the current Bond in film only projects. Also, Craig may be tired after filming 20 episodes so it's very doubtful he'd want to commit to a 6 - 8 month shoot on Bond 25. It's not impossible but it's very doubtful.
I think it's all shaping up to a spring 2017 announcement that Daniel Craig won't be returning to the role of James Bond 007.
Yeah, Bond is a mammoth project. No way Craig would start a Bond film straight after filming 20 episodes of a TV series.
EON have become seriously sneaky over the last 6 weeks. I have no idea what they're scheming, but I plan to find out by 2017 at the latest.
After losing to civil war this may be the move that puts WB way over from Disney in other words.
Check mate
Or maybe not
Good. Do that and watch a Bond film. Much more fun.
I second this and suggest you not to watch Casino Royale '67
A play, a 20 episode TV series, and an action-comedy over the next year or more. Craig is not coming back for a 2018 release date. Whether he comes back at all is still in play.
Dear god hope to never watch that film again it says something that this weekend I can look forward to watching Diamonds are forever and think "at least it isn't Casino Royale 1967"
As for bond 25 I feel things are picking up but not in the way everyone suspects I feel that eon is leaking a few ideas they have had as to keep everyone chomping at the bit and to keep 007's name in the press now whether any of this is STILL how Eon is thinking is truely anyone's guess (for all we know Hiddleston and Turner could of both meet with producers and bombed the screen test) I do feel EON is getting all their ducks in a row so that when MGM does sign with a distributer they can start day one on getting bond 25 out. Remember this is the company that hired Sam Mendes as a creative consultant before MGM signed with Sony simply because they couldn't out right hire him as director.
I've accepted that a long time ago. (I'm including myself.)
Now, this is complete malarkey.
1. Eon has always been guarded until the press conference for the film. Always.
2. You have no proof of secret scheming. The only solid news bite we've gotten concerning Bond 25 is Mendes not returning. Everything else has been questionable or speculation.
You have no conclusive reason to believe that 1. Daniel Craig is not James Bond and 2. The Bond 25 release date is set.
I can guarantee you Eon is still working with Craig, and it's likely that they'll have to make a decision only after this year.
Once Craig become co producer on Spectre BB & MGW being anything remotely to cubby was thrown out the window. Cubby would never let any Bond actor have this much power in the series. Same when they waited for Mendes. Cubby wouldn't have waited for him. He move onto to someone new.
Daniel Craig is the first Bond actor to have been chosen in the BB Eon era. She will do whatever she can to get Craig back especially if his schedule allows him to film Bond 25 for Nov 2018 release
The fact that the distributor thing hasn't been sorted out yet (when Wilson suggested off the cuff that it might be by now) suggests to me that they aren't really champing at the bit for this business, which is not surprising given how bad a deal Sony got stuck with last time.
I think profitability of the future films will drive a lot of the future decisions, as a result. Cost control will be a major discussion item imho.
Apologies for some disturbing content in this video, so please excuse for that!
1-Distribution Rights/Release Date
2-Craig's Confirmation
3-Bond 25 Press Conference
And how many months are in between each of these? I don't want to go there... Yikes. If these three "verses" come and pass, that's when we'll really know things.
Yup. Sony got played like chumps for the deal they got and no studio unless they're pathetically desperate will make such a deal to only take home scraps. It's not worth it. This new distribution deal could actually be a huge blessing as @bondjames said, profitability now more than ever for these film will drive things. After SF made $1.1Billion, when it was all said and done Sony took no more than $30million home. EoN aren't going to sucker in a distributor who'll accept and play ball with such a bullshit deal. If EoN want to walk away with big bucks, they're going to have to make sure the quality of the films are to a standard where serious money can be made. For the first time in a long time, going forward EoN's share of the profits are by nature standardly taking a hit. Frivolous spending and overblown budgets are going to be noticeably reduced.
He can afford to not work on anything ever, if he so chooses to, so whatever he might now get paid for one job is highly unlikely to have the slightest impact on his interest to do or not do another job.
Why would anyone think he'd pick jobs based on what he gets paid for them? Why would he? Makes zero sense.
And why do some people think we now know a hell of a lot more than we did a couple of days ago, and things are "moving fast" and whatnot? Where does that thinking come from? This is one weird thread...
Right? Every day there's somebody saying (usually the same people), "Oh boy, I can smell Bond 25 coming!" or, "Just a matter of time now, things are really moving," and "A 2018 release date is totally assured!"
I'm a realist and base predictions on empirical data, so I don't see where all these clues pointing to massive gears moving in the EON machine are coming from. It is amusing, however, to watch people react who think there are.
People think going forward without Dan will keep things moving quick, release wise, but I'd say it's the opposite. Without Dan, EON would have to figure out if they are going to keep the continuity going with another actor (bad idea, IMO) or restart entirely, in which case even more time has to be spent planning what that future will be like, and what vision will drive it, as they did with Craig pre-CR, and to do that they'll actually have to decide on an actor. That process will take a long time all on its own.
Until we hear things about a distribution deal officially secured, there's no point in discussing anything else. No matter how much EON wants to make a move, they can't until MGM sort things out on their end, and they seem to be in no rush to get things done, either. I'm not surprised Dan is keeping himself busy; if he didn't it'd be like sitting in the waiting room of the doctor's office after you know he's called in sick.
