Die Another Day comes from Fleming too.
IMHO, Fleming's greatest talent was his titles. It comes from his journalism background. He even knew when to reject arguably good titles--good enough for anyone other than Fleming--like The Belles of Hell and The Rough With The Smooth.
Eon is well aware of how difficult it is to come up with a Flemingesque title. BB and MGW are both on the record as stating that. So I'm sure the B25 title is a big discussion point at Eon.
Frankly, the true surprise is that Tomorrow Never Dies/Lies made it through, but then again, Eon didn't seem too concerned with Fleming in the '90s.
He's not a physical menace, but there is something haunting about this guy. Just listen to the way he says 'chamomile tea'. He's got that odd, flamboyant style the great villains have.
With the news that the CIA feature in the film, I'm starting to think that Malek may play a Russian in league with some corrupt American officials in the intelligence agency. Maybe, Bond would need to make contact with Leiter to get to the truth.
I really hope that Billy Magnussen is not playing the new Felix. Jeffrey Wright is just too good not to include. Recently, he has been looking sharp and his profile has risen considerably since CR & QOS.
As good as I'm hoping Bond 25 will be if Jeffrey doesn't get a swansong like DC it will be one of the missed opportunities of this era and it won't be the only one by a long shot.
Yes, I forgot that, but basically it is still his way of expressing, "I'm letting you live".
?? It's well established that the character they want Malek for is North African. On a different note I am now predicting that Rami Malek will become the first person EVER to get nominated for an acting Oscar for a Bond movie.
That's a pretty bold statement, considering he's not signed on, nor has the film been shot or seen.
One might've said the same of Bardem or Waltz given the Oscar wins they received before appearing in a Bond film.
I'm sorry, where was that established? Is that part of the Never Dream of Dying rumor?
I wouldn't say that. They just put themselves in "multiple options situation". Goin for one last standalone adventure (Boyle, I suppose) or following the overall continuity as established in SP (P&W). They just choose the latter. No one would've complained about the absence of Swann with option 1, trust me.
I think he's giving off a similar vibe in interviews all the time. Good actor though, and I would love to see what he could do as a Bond villain.
As convoluted as Spectre was, I’m glad they’re not completely ignoring it. Although I am very glad they’re going for a new villain rather than doing the obvious Blofeld-escape (as far as we know)
Me too! When I left the theater back in 2015 I had the feeling Craig's arc wasn't done yet. I felt there could have been room for more, expanding what was established in SP. So yes, I'm glad too.
BTW I get your point, but you will always find some Bond fans complaining about something.
Interesting!
By the way, do we all remember that casting call from when Boyle was still on-board? Despite Hodge exiting the project, I think it's safe to say that the attributes for both the villain and the Bond girl (whom I assume went from a Russian agent to a British one) will likely remain the same.

Very Striking. Strong Physical / fighting / stage combat skills required.

You know, another reason why I think it's important to bring back Madeleine is because Bond's decision to quit for her to me felt even more profound and symbolic than it was in the movie itself because of CR. Bond already left MI6 for another woman. He resigned in CR, but lasted only for a couple days as we all know. So his decision to make this choice again for another woman, breaking the armor he wore since the end of CR, it's something that really needs further examinations, imo.
The Garden of Death 2020
Blofield 2022
Then the Hardy era can begin with Smersh 2024
They have dragged their feet so long with this one? That their is no way we will have a film now in 2022. Which to me is a massive missed opportunity.
I think if they bring Waltz back, it will be in a Silence of the Lambs-type scene. I imagine it'll be akin to Alice Morgan in Luther. It'll likely be nothing more than a cameo.
Waltz had his chance. I want them to give as much possible screentime for Malek to shine.
Also, according to Lipstick Alley, Fukunaga and Kirstine Froseth flew by private jet to Norway.

There is speculation that filming may be taking place sooner rather than later there...
